Charming ‘upside down house’ off Billy Cabin road in Mirror Lake area of Highlands. Recent remodel, new furniture and paint as of August 2023. 2 wood burning stone fireplaces, 2 living rooms, master suite downstairs, kitchen, dining room, utility, 2 bedrooms and bathroom upstairs. Huge upstairs deck wraps around house with similar deck on lower floor. Yard of 1/2 acre is perfect for furry friends. Flat lot around the property and plentiful parking, with an internal garage. Small fenced area for pets if needed, but they have the run of the whole lot.

Newly available coming off an 18 month lease. Full designer refresh August 2023

Great local hikes from the house to waterfalls and restaurants. Also, mountain bike from the house on gravel roads for hours!

My daughters and I had a wonderful time in highlands. The owners were so kind and the house was beautiful and had all the essentials. We loved how peaceful it was on the porch listening to birds in the mornings. Great location to town. Enjoyed our stay

Beautiful scenery from the deck which was a lovely place to spend time.The kitchen was well stocked with all you would need. We enjoyed the home and the property. It is obvious there is a lot of love here!

Beautiful property nestled in the wooded hills west of Highlands. Antiseptically clean, tastefully furnished and decorated, the property was a perfect place to rest and relax. The owner is gracious and accommodating, and very friendly. A-plus!

We have stayed in Highlands many summers and this was definitely our favorite place. So much so that we immediately booked for next summer. Someone else called it "antiseptically clean" and I would agree. It is also beautifully decorated and extremely well provisioned, down to the smallest details. The owners live next door and Kathy is always willing to help with anything or answer questions. It is in a beautiful, woodsy neighborhood and setting that makes you feel as if you are in a treehouse, and has quiet roads and trails for walking yourself and your pup. As peaceful as it is, you can get to town in 5 minutes by car. You could walk, but it might take a few more minutes. Can't wait to go back.

Great property Great hosts

My wife and I spent two and a half months at this property and loved it ! It was super clean and very well equipped. If you are looking for a private/mountain experience this is the perfect location. Close to town with a quiet mountain feel. I would definitely go back.

Excellent property! We really enjoyed our stay, super responsive host and everything was beautiful and matched the pictures in the listing. Well stocked with quality amenities which is always a treat. The big porch with the large outdoor seating was perfect for a glass of wine. The layout was good for families and wow, the beds were incredibly comfy! We will be back!

Dream Property

Fantastic property and amazing hosts. My wife, two young daughters send two dogs spent the week at this house. The house is beautiful and the hosts have obviously put a lot of thought into the accommodations. The location is stunning and very close to so many great hiking trails, waterfalls, shopping, and restaurants. I would highly recommend this property.

Kathy was a wonderful host! She went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed for our lengthy stay. The house was spacious, comfortable, and nicely decorated! It was close to downtown Highlands yet we felt so secluded in the woods. She gave us recommendations for hikes to waterfalls, great restaurants and shopping! I highly recommend booking this place! Thank you Kathy and Tony for being wonderful hosts!

This is probably the best VRBO where we have ever stayed. The house is extremely nice, it is equipped with everything you would need, it is beautifully furnished, the landscaping is amazing and it has a wonderful upstairs veranda where we spent many hours. Kathy lives next door and was always available to answer any questions and to provide recommendations for restaurants, activities, etc. Our stay at this home could not have been any better.

Rest and relaxation

We really enjoyed our stay. The host Kathy and husband were very helpful and had the house very well stocked. Everything was very clean and ready for us. The location was perfect and very convenient to downtown Highlands. The neighborhood was good for walking your dog. The deck patio area was a very serene setting in the woods. I would recommend this rental and would definitely consider staying here again when coming back to Highlands.

My experience with rentals has been that the property doesn’t live up to the pictures. This was far from the case. The house is more spacious and attractive than we expected. It’s so well appointed, that I never unpacked the “essentials” I brought. The lower level has everything but a kitchen. There’s a fireplace and a huge TV. The upper level is roomy with an updated kitchen and laundry room. There’s a fireplace upstairs as well.The beds are comfortable, which is a priority for us.The home is situated high atop a mountain ridge that gives the feeling of being isolated, but it’s not. The leaves had just begun to turn when we arrived, but a stormy night gave them a nudge. When we left 8 days later, we were surrounded by gold leaves with hints of orange and red. Downtown Highlands is just a 5-6 minute drive. Shops and restaurants abound.We didn’t have a pet, but they are allowed. I’m happy to report there was no dog smell.You couldn’t ask for better hosts. Kathy and Tony are not only very personable, they are going to make sure your vacation is perfect.

It’s in a secluded area, off Billy Cabin Road, but great for local neighborhood walks and longer hikes, right from the house. A 30 minute stroll puts you at a water fall with swimming area that’s pretty much a local secret. Greatly for pups and kids who like to swim in cold fresh mountain water. You can use a hybrid or mountain bike locally and get 3 hills in safely for a very good scenic workout. The area is very quiet and safe with minimal passing traffic, in a 4 house cul de sac surrounded by forest. Even so, its less than 5 minutes to an Ace Hardware, a great BBQ Smokehouse and Main St Highlands.
