Super-nice host and the owner’s pics are very accurate. It’s a beautiful spot and we enjoyed eating breakfast on the porch (we brought some food with us, but the owners provided delicious muffins), watching the sunset by the water’s edge, and relaxing by the fire pit in the evening. We were a little thrown by an instruction not to flush any paper at all and put our toilet paper in the trash (which may just be a temporary condition?). Overall, this was an enjoyable getaway for us in the beautiful Piney Woods!

We had a wonderful stay! Our host met us when we arrived and gave us a quick tour of the place. We arrived to some freshly baked goodies that we’re absolutely phenomenal, they had bubbles for us around the ready to go fire pit, we made s’mores, blew bubbles, used the kayaks, went fishing, saw lots of wildlife, and explored some surrounding areas. The cabin was absolutely perfect for a couples get away and one we’ll keep in mind if we ever spend another weekend out in east Texas.

Wonderful caring owners. Loved the views and closeness of the lake. So enjoyed watching and hearing the birds and wildlife. Cabin small but comfortable. Great for a couples getaway. Be sure and visit the city of Jefferson while you’re there. Took the trolley tour and learned so much about this historic town.

Nice little cozy cabin right by the lake. The hosts were wonderful, very nice people! They even baked muffins and cookies for us! Would definitely stay there again, next time we might be able to bring our pups.

First, the host Frank and Linda are wonderful to work with. When we arrived, there were a variety of baked goodies waiting for us to munch on throughout the weekend including a couple of goodies for the pets.The cabin has a balcony which you get a great view of the lake from.The cabin was clean and had everything we needed to get through our stay.They provided two Kayaks which we had a blast on. With the water only a few yards from the cabin and lots of room for our dogs to run we had everything we needed. All you here at night is crickets and the waves hitting the shore. Very relaxing.We would definitely stay here again.. Gary and Patricia Patterson

Was looking for a quiet lakeside getaway to celebrate the girlfriend’s birthday and this could not have been a more perfect fit. Linda and Frank were incredible hosts, very friendly and sweet. The baked goodies they left us were a nice treat and some of the best we’ve had. We brought our two puppies and Frank made sure to have treats ready for them both too. Cabin was very clean and comfortable. The property’s right on the lake, walkable from the cabin, great for spending a day in the water with the host provided kayaks. Couldn’t recommend this cabin enough. We’re already looking at dates to come back out.

My mom and I stayed at the Second Wind on a family vacation. Frank greeted us as we drove up and was so kind to help me unload our car and carry everything in. My mom is mobility challenged at the moment (hip surgery the following week), so she was unable to be much help, and we so appreciated the level of service shown to us. The cabin was perfect for us in every way. and I so much appreciated the attention to accessibility details – ramps, power recliners, etc. Not only that, we brought brought my mom's mobility scooter to help her on our trip and we somehow got off without my battery. Frank and Linda provided her a walker to use while we were there. They also took my mom down to the water on the golf cart since she could not have walked it herself – not just one time, but each and every time. The service was above and beyond. Frank and Linda truly have servants’ hearts and blessed us so much. They even prayed for my mom when we were leaving, that her surgery would go well, etc. The cabin was beautifully hand-crafted and the waterfront view was beautiful. We, our dogs, and our family enjoyed it so much. Can we give 25 stars or more? Highly recommend this beautiful retreat.

Without a doubt the 2nd Wind is the BEST Vrbo we had stayed in. Frank and Linda will make you feel right at home. They live next door and make themselves available for anything. Frank even brought out some of the best tasting brisket I've had. The views from the back porch are beautiful at sunset. The area is quiet and relaxing. Coming from West Texas, it was nice to have some real trees and a beautiful lake to enjoy. Frank and Linda really care about their place and their guests. We had special baked good treats and treats for our dogs waiting for us. Our dogs even enjoyed the wonderful change of scenery.

Wonderful stay!

We were so impressed with the little guest cabin. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the hosts are so welcoming down to home made goodies! We would definitely recommend this rental.

The cabin is even more adorable in person! Fantastic view from the balcony over the lake. Exceptional hosts, made sure we had everything we needed and more. The bakery treats were beautiful and very tasty! And as an extra, treats for our pup!!

It was very nice, clean and secluded from the city (which was very much needed). I enjoyed being able to hear the birds, and getting in touch with nature. Taking the kayaks to the lake as the sunset was we setting was a lovely view to just sit and watch. Will be sure to keep this place in mind!

Relaxing stay, gracious hosts

Frank and Linda were wonderful hosts, & the property itself was picturesque and exactly what my partner and I were looking for. We enjoyed coffee and breakfast on the patio before kayaking then getting dressed and heading into Jefferson to explore the town. We would definitely stay here again!
