Welcome to Buffalo Trail Retreat, a newly remodeled property in the Terry Peak subdivision with close proximity to skiing/snowboarding, and in the middle of the northern hills recreational corridor with so much to do! This wonderful property is the perfect location for both winter and summer vacations, with great access to the Stewart Lodge at Terry Peak just 1/2 mile away and local snowmobile trails less than a mile away, along with ATV/UTV trails that can be accessed easily with a short ride over to Recreational Springs to connect to the larger trail system. You can also be enjoying the rim-rock canyon walls of Spearfish Canyon in less than 10 minutes, grabbing some great food or gambling in famous Deadwood in under 15 minutes, or taking in the majestic sites of Mount Rushmore, Sylvan Lake, Custer State Park and more in about an hours drive! You can't beat this location surrounded by trees, but within an easy drive of many activities!

Inside you'll find an open kitchen/living/dining area that seamlessly comes together to make it easy to entertain your favorite guests that you brought with, along with a dining table that comfortably seats 6 people, and additional seating at the kitchen counter. There's a flat screen TV in the kitchen area great for entertaining and it comes equipped with the reliable and fast Starlink internet great for watching your favorite internet based shows and staying connected on your trip. The upper loft has a twin bed and a loft along with another smart TV. The lower level has another bedroom along with a great game room complete with a pool table, foosball table, Nintendo gaming system and seating area with smart TV. It's a great place to enjoy the night with your friends and family by your side. The bathrooms are newly renovated and are both walk-in showers making it great for everyone in your group! There's also a walk-out onto the back deck that has a wonderful hot tub! There's plenty of parking for multiple vehicles and/or trailers as well!

The hot tub was only hot the first day and after that never really got hot and the jets weren’t very powerful. The beds were super comfy and there was a good amount of space for everyone to have their own area. We enjoyed the pool table but they definitely need new pool sticks or tips. There was a foosball table but no balls to play it. Kitchen was nice and the couch and chair upstairs were comfy. Easy location to get to and would recommend to a family needing to place to stay close to the ski resort. We spent a lot of time in Deadwood which was only a short drive away.

Perfect for ski trip

We had a great stay here ( 2 families). It is perfect for a ski trip. Lots of room. Comfy beds. Great kitchen and hot tub. Due to a snow storm between SD and home we got stuck in SD and they were great about letting us stay another day beyond our reservation. Very easy to communicate with. Very happy with our stay!

Cabin was nice. Bedding had not been changed from previous guests. Feminine products were found under the one bed. Dead mice outside window egress. Property was overgrown with weeds. Deck and stairs need repair before someone gets hurt. Hot tub was low on water. Driveway entrance was very steep from the road and drug our trailers while entering and exiting.

Needs a good cleaning

The property needs some love. It was not very clean, water seeped up through the basement flloor, crock pot was broken, hot tub has a crack in it. Overall we had a lot of fun & the house met our needs. We were disappointed with the fact that we had to clean while we were on vacation. The location was great & the kids loved the pool table & fooseball table. The open lay out was ideal for our group. clean on vacation .

Everything was as pictured. Great place to stay while out skiing. 2 minutes from Terry Peak. Lots of cabins in there so no privacy for hot tubing. Hot tub was very clean and well taken care of. Foosball table didn't work well. Pool table was good. Grill worked great! Very comfortable beds and couches. Highly recommend.

Worst stay ever!

We have rented a lot of houses for vacatins, this place was the worse. Looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months! Relayed information to host and didn't get any response.There were towels and trash (boxer shorts) left out by the hot tub, I had to sipe the counters with Clorx wipes and you can see they are just filthy. The dish scrubber that was left-I wouldn't use. Grll was disgusting, missing grates and the chain on the light fixture looked like it hadn't been touched in years.

Great Location

Our family had a great time visiting Terry Peak. This cabin was very close to the ski area. Beds were comfortable. Linens were clean. Kitchen had all the supplies needed to cook meals. Snow was cleared off driveway and walk up to the cabin. Hot tub is older and missing the cushioned pad head rests. Cabin could use a good deep spring cleaning. At first glance it appears clean but when you look around it’s not. Lots of dust, keurig was dirty, bathroom closets and side of bathroom vanity were dusty and grimey. Also, would not recommend this cabin for families with young children because loft area does not have a railing so the stairs are open to the living room below.

Needs a good cleaning.

Property was in need a good cleaning. There was used tissues, dirty bandaid on the floor in the master and garbage left around the hot tub. Every wall was dirty and every surface was dusty. The hot tub quit working the first night and when we addressed these issues we were left with a response of the cleaner was in a hurry and not much they could do about the hot tub. Everything in the cabin from the carpet to the games in the basement were very rundown.

Hot tub is old and didn't work. We had to sweep the deck area and the top of the hot tub before using it. The deck is pretty rickety, lawn not cared for and tree down in yard, and driveway partially washed out. So, first appearance, not good. The inside of the cabin is nice and appears clean on the surface, but this is a layer of dust on the curtains and trim boards, and a bandaid laying near the bed in main flood bedroom (this was mentioned in a review 1 yr ago..same bandaid??) The beds are comfortable, kitchen well stocked, and like that there are spices there. Plenty of towels. Location is great and lots of parking room if you had a trailer with snowmobiles or ATVs. Would not recommend for anyone with kids since the stairs to the loft is wide open with no outside rail. Overall, very nice cabin but needs a deep cleaning and a new hot tub. If you want a hot tub that works I would not rent this cabin unless it lists a new hot tub.

Thanks for your feedback Lori. The hot tub works still, but it is an older tub. There wasn't any mention of the hot tub when you visited, and we had out hot tub crew service it before and after your visit. Both times, it was working great. The deck is getting replaced after the winter months and an new hot tub will be going in after that's finished up. We'll take a look at the cleanliness items you mentioned and get them taken care of. Thanks again for staying.
