Beautiful, clean, great location, hot tub, fire pit, grill, large porches and excellent WIFI!
A tastefully decorated new Swedish-inspired build with 16 foot high ceilings, an open floor plan, large covered porches, fire pit and a private new hot tub. Inside find a beautiful living space consisting of locally-sourced oak and knotty pine walls, hickory flooring, cherry cabinets and lots of windows overlooking a vast forest. Enjoy colorful sunrises and sunsets from this hill top cabin that overlooks 91 acres of private woods.
There is fabulous hiking on our property's trails (find fairies in our whirly twirly fairy trail, get lost in the maze of confusion and hike the settler's grave yard). This property is adjacent to Waterloo Wildlife Area (2300 acres) and Zaleski State forest surrounds it. Explore the area (Lake Hope's Old Hollow Cave and Pioneer Cemetery trail is amazing). This property is in a great location between to a hip college town (Athens) and amazing Hocking Hills region.
***The property has one security camera pointed away from the house, facing the driveway entrance.

The hot tub temperature was great and we all loved it! We cooked most of the mornings and evenings. The selection of cookware, utensils and plates, etc was perfect. The cabin is very nice and cozy. We will stay here again.

The cabin was really lovely, completely surrounded by trees, and we enjoyed relaxing on the large porch and in the hot tub, admiring the nature around us. We also enjoyed the walking trail close to the cabin.

What a beautiful cabin, we love the deck, and we also loved that we always had a visitor at dinner time, he's a very friendly and well-trained dog! Hot tub was warm and relaxing, we found a new favorite cabin that we would definitely revisit!! The AC was not working but was not needed, the owners left us a note and was willing to bring a portable AC unit if needed, the cabin stayed cold and was not needed. We loved our cabin, see you soon, thank you!!

The property was very pet friendly and super clean! There is a nice trail in the woods off the back deck next to the fire pit. We had one issue on arrival but we received a very quick and cordial response! I appreciated the natural light and well appointed kitchen. There is plenty stargazing and birding opportunities here and you do not need a 4WD to reach the cabin!

My husband, myself and our pup enjoyed our recent stay at this cabin. Although it is close to the road, there is hardly any traffic so we felt somewhat secluded which is what we wanted. Check in was a breeze. Cabin was pretty clean and had everything we needed. Having a washer & dryer onsite was a definite bonus! The beds were nice but incredibly too firm for our liking, but that's just us. LOVED the back deck overlooking the forest. We enjoyed our coffee in the rocking chairs and playing cards on the table (when it wasn't too windy, lol). Great communication with the owner. We would recommend this cabin to others.

This was such a cute little cabin to stay at and so cozy! Our pup is 12 years old but she acted like a puppy again with the trails right behind the cabin, which my husband and I loved as well. I was also very surprised at how comfortable the bed was compared to other places we stayed. Would highly recommend this little getaway cabin!

We had a relaxing time! Everything was clean and well labeled. Hot tub, TV, hiking trail and lights were all clearly explained and easy to use, no surprises! Lauren and Andy Dick moved to the Athens, Ohio area in 1994 to attend Ohio University and Hocking College. It was here that we fell in love with each other and the Southeastern Ohio Region. In 2000, we purchased our first beautiful four acres and cABIN adjacent the to the Waterloo Wildlife and Research Area. Over the past 22 years we have continued to expand our ownership of more property in this magical place. As of May 2021, we celebrated our acquisition of additional acreage now total 91 acres.
It has been our dream to share the peace and serenity of Waterloo Woods with others who desire to get away from it all and rejuvenate. This newly built cabin on our property, as see here on VRBO, has made that dream a reality for us. We take great pride in assuring our guest stay in a private, clean, serene and welcoming environment.

This property is incredible! Hike through our amazing woods, through the whirly twirly fairy forest, up hill to the cemetery or down hill to the pond area. There are beautiful exposed rock faces, creeks and wildlife abound.

Lounge in fluffy bathrobes and enjoy the rocking chairs while looking into the vast woods. The hiking trails are great as well.
