This unique 24-acre resort property located right on the edge of the Town of Duck, NC, sits between the Ocean and the Sound, and offers access to both. This is arguably one of the best locations in the Outer Banks for convenience and walking / biking proximity to multiple activities and dining options.
This property has one of the largest outdoor pools on OBX and a Recreation Center with Indoor Pool, Hot Tub, Sauna, Exercise Room, and Activity Room.
THE SPACE
This is a two level 2BR/2BA unit located in the 300 Building on the 3rd and 4th floors.
3rd floor - Full Kitchen with Stove, Oven, Refrigerator, Dishwasher, Microwave, Coffee Maker, Toaster, Blender, etc. Sit up bar / 3 stools, Dining Table / 4 chairs, Living Room area with Loveseat and Sleeper sofa, Fireplace, Bedroom with 2 Twin beds with full size bathroom / shower, good sized Outdoor Deck has a scenic Sound / Garden view and table / 4 chairs,
4th floor - Large Loft area with Sleeper Sofa, Master Bedroom with King bed, Full bathroom / large Garden tub, shower wand. There is a private deck off the Master bathroom with a Sound view. Washer / Dryer on this level.
This spacious 2BR unit at approximately 1,300sq ft is rated to sleep eight (8) persons. There is a Washer / Dryer inside your unit.

VIEW CATEGORY:
While the resort itself is Beachfront, these specific units are located in the 300 Building (see property map in the pictures section). The 300 Building sits on the highest point of the property, so there are nice scenic views from the outdoor deck. There may be views of the Sound and / or Ocean depending on the specific unit you will be assigned. Your unit will have a scenic view from the outdoor deck.
BEACH ACCESS
It is possible to walk to the Resort’s private Beach access, but since this is a large 24+acre property that stretches from Sound to the Ocean, it can be a longer walk to the beach from certain sections of the resort versus other areas.
STAIRS / ACCESSIBILITY:
Most properties in OBX have a certain number of stairs, so that buildings are elevated and protected in case of potential flooding that could be caused by hurricanes or major storms.
BIS-Duck Resort will provide assistance carrying your baggage to your unit if you would like some help.
For this specific unit:
Exterior Stairs to Front Door – 34 to 50 steps
Interior Stairs to 2nd level – 15 steps
UNIT INTERIORS:
This property was originally constructed in the late 1980's and early 1990's. Recently a $8+ Million dollar renovation project was started, and expected to be completed in phases.
Before the renovation started, most of the unit interiors were spacious and comfortable but very dated.
Please note these specific units in the 300 Building section have been partially renovated. These units have received new Flooring throughout, new furniture in the Living Room and bedrooms, new window coverings, newly painted in all rooms, and the Kitchen has been refreshed (although countertops remain the same). The Master Bath also had the large garden tub replaced with a Walk-In shower.
The benefits offered by this resort are the overall amenities, including one of the largest outdoor pool areas on OBX. Next to the pool area there is an onsite Sea Glass Snack Shack serving stuff like burgers and hot dogs, beverages, and water ice.
This property is definitely one of the most unique on OBX, with direct access to the both the Beach and the Sound, and in very close proximity to the many shops and restaurants in the Town of Duck. You also benefit from these spacious units being priced lower than comparable options of the same size in the area.
Many families enjoy their annual vacations at this property, however if you are a traveler that requires more luxurious accommodations, this may not be the right choice for you, and you might want to consider one of the more expensive listings on VRBO.
I am not trying to sound negative, because personally we enjoy this property for what it is, not what it isn't. I just want to make sure your expectations match reality. If you have any specific questions on this, please don't hesitate to ask.
GUEST ACCESS
Your unit is private, but since this is a resort property, amenities will be shared with other guests (Pools, Beach, Recreation Center, Outdoor Games, etc).
OTHER THINGS TO NOTE
- Primary Guest checking in must be at least 21 years of age with a valid ID and credit card for security deposit. If a security deposit is required, it will be returned to you after Check Out if you have not made any charges to your room.
- Barrier Island Station – Duck is professionally managed and operated by Capital Vacations. The Front Desk is staffed for Check-In, Check-Out, and is available for any questions, issues, or need for assistance during your stay.
- Check In time is 4:00pm (or after) and check out time is 10:00am. Please check with the resort Front Desk for any possibility of earlier unit availability and / or early use of the resort amenities during check-in days.
- Late Check In: The Front Desk / Office is open from 8am to 7pm. If you arrive after those hours you can go to the Security office and get access to your unit. Then the following morning you will need to go to the office by 11am to get officially signed in and receive your parking passes, information, etc.
- Please note that once you Check In and get access to your unit, if you encounter any issues or concerns regarding Housekeeping, Maintenance, etc…please contact the Front Desk / Office IMMEDIATELY. The staff members on-site provide the best opportunity to get any concerns resolved in the fastest and most efficient manner.
- Please note that some of the photos may not be from the specific unit you will be assigned. However, they do reflect the general layout you can expect from various locations in the unit.
- Two FREE parking passes are included with this unit, which you will receive from the Front Desk at Check In. If you need parking for an additional vehicle you can arrange this directly with the Front Desk.
- Bedding linens, including blankets, sheets, and pillows are provided. However, if have you have any favorites blankets or pillows, or if you sleep better using a certain type of pillow, it would be good to bring your own.
- Please especially take note of the detail above about bed coverings. BIS-Duck provides Blankets but does NOT provide the heavier, bulkier Comforters that you may have on your bed at home.
- If you plan on using the Sleeper sofas during your stay, I definitely recommend bringing your own sheets, pillows, and blankets, maybe even a mattress pad for the Sleeper sofa specifically, which can be turned into a very comfortable extra bed. Also plan accordingly if your unit has multiple sleeper sofas (bringing 2 sets of sheets, pillows, blankets, etc).
- Bath and Hand towels are provided for you and will be inside your unit when you arrive.
- Please note that Housekeeping will provide EXTRA towels and blankets upon request. Just contact the Front Desk and they will arrange a drop-off.
- There is no daily housekeeping provided. However your unit does have it's own Washer / Dryer in the unit that is for your use only. If additional housekeeping is desired during your stay it is available for an additional fee scheduled directly with the resort Front Desk.
- Each Unit will receive a "Starter Package" at Check In. Your unit will have basic supplies like toilet paper, paper towels, detergent, etc to get you thru the first day or two of your stay. I recommend you definitely be prepared for this by bringing your own supplies in these categories based on what you feel you will need for the week (especially if there are specific brands you favor). Also don’t forget any cleaning products if you want them (cleaners, hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, etc). There are grocery stores conveniently located in Kitty Hawk, Duck, and Corolla if you want to shop for any groceries or personal items you want during your stay.
- Utensils, Dishes, and some basic Pots and Pans are provided. If something appears to be missing, you can contact the Front Desk and possibly get it dropped off (if they have it). However, if you plan on cooking a lot of meals inside your unit, or plan any special dishes, I do recommend bringing your favorite Large Frying pan (or Large Sauté Pan, Wok, Crockpot, etc, etc) for cooking. This way you will have something you are comfortable using and you will know exactly how things will cook in it. You may also want to bring your favorite Kitchen knife(s) for food prep.
- Pool / Beach towels are not provided. Each family should bring their own pool / beach towels
- You should bring your own Beach Chairs / Beach Blankets / Umbrellas / Coolers / Equipment you want to use on the beach. If you don’t bring your own stuff, you are able to rent Beach chairs / Umbrellas in the Town of Duck, or during most summer weeks on the beach out in front of the facility.
- The new H2OBX Waterpark recently built in Powell's Point is only about 15 miles away
- If you or any members of your family enjoy bike riding, I strongly recommend taking your own bikes (if you have the means to do so). Bikes are a great way to move around the resort, and also ride into the Town of Duck. Bike rentals in Duck are available if you don't bring your own. Remember to take your bike locks so you can lock up your bikes at the bike rack each night.
- If you are interested in fishing while on vacation, just make sure you have the proper licenses.
- Pets are not permitted anywhere on or in the Resort property.
