Welcome to Brooks Cabin, named for our Brooks ancestors who acquired the property in the late 1940s. A beautiful custom built 1900s log home, newly remodeled. Surrounded by farm animals on a working farm, you’ll have the chance to see chickens, sheep, goats, pigs, barn cats and our livestock guardian dogs. It’s only minutes from the Appalachian Trail, in a spectacular and unique location with easy road access.

Danni is a wonderful host. The property is beautiful and secluded. The pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, and Abby were a bonus. I needed a break from technology, work, and humans. This was perfect. All you hear is animal noises and the occasional car or bike. I went alone with the exception of my dog. I always felt safe and comfortable. The hot tub is a great addition. You cannot find a better mountain get away! Thank you to the Brooke’s family! Oh and you have to go to the mini mart right before you turn to go up the mountains- the best local goods. Chicken salad was amazing.

This place is magical. We were so happy with our time here. We booked it as we needed a pet-friendly place to stay for a wedding we were attending in Marshall. This exceeded all of our expectations. The photos on VRBO do not do it justice. There are two bedrooms on the first floor, both with queen beds. The second floor, which we did not even use, has 3 twin beds.There are farm animals right there next to the cabin. We had chickens and goats in the yard right off the porch. There are pigs, goats, and sheet in the pen right next to the cabin. I enjoyed watching their antics from the porch. Speaking of porches, we sat on all of them, including the one in the very back with the hot tub. We are already trying to figure out when we can come back!

The perfect getaway for us and our 3 little doggies as we are miserable without them. The cabin is so cozy and peaceful. The hot tub is lovely. The views are gorgeous! The farm animal sounds will lull you into a serene mindset. Just what we needed getting away from Knox-vegas!

The cabin was very cozy and the decor was nice. There was plenty of room for me and my husband and our little dog to stay comfortably. Our host was great and check in was incredibly easy.

Kids loved the animals! Very comfortable home in a beautiful setting. My son loved catching butterflies. We used the hot tub each night. Updated bathroom and laundry. Off the beaten path - away from crowds we had experienced on other trips. Great for our dog too

Our stay at Brooks cabin was perfect. The property was exactly as pictured and described. The hosts provided everything we needed and more (fresh eggs for breakfast)! Our kids loved waking up in the morning and running straight out to greet the animals. They even got to hold the baby goats. We also enjoyed ending our nights around the fire pit and taking in the view while the sun set. I highly recommend staying here if you’re looking for a cozy place that feels like home to unwind and make memories.

Peaceful farm

Great place! We loved the fire pit, views of the mountains and fireflys at night, I fell asleep in the screen porch hammock. We loved all the animals the puppies were so cute and the owner even let the girls give the baby lamb a bottle! Very relaxing. Thank you!

Brooks Cabin 12/26-12/31

This was our second stay at Brooks Cabin and it was just as amazing as the first time! The hot tub was a great addition! If you are looking for a quiet place to get away from the craziness of life, this is a perfect spot!The views from the fire pit area are spectacular! The night sky views are mesmerizing! It is so fun interacting with all the farm animals and the dogs! Black Cat is always a treat to have around as well. We love it up on that mountain! Thank you Danni for the opportunity!I

We had a great time with you

Beautiful!!!!! Danni was so helpful and sweet!!!!! My family got to pet the animals and feed the hog left over???? The cabin was cozy and fun to sleep there!!! We got back to nature and sleeping out on the porch if we wanted too!!!! The fire pit was our nightly marshmallow roasting!!! I highly recommend this place!!! The fresh eggs she had extra was fantastic!!!! Thank you very much!!!!

Beautiful, Relaxing & Lovely place to stay!

We were very impressed with Danni & her dad, Tom & highly recommend the Brooks Cabin to anyone! The beds were so comfy, everything was so clean & it is an adorable, cozy place to stay. It's hard to choose where to relax ---the porch swing? the hammock? the other chair swing? out by the fire pit? so many choices! Danni's touch of condiments in the fridge, a handful of spices, fresh eggs & their own pork sausage went above & beyond!! Thank you for sharing your amazing space & we will be sharing with our friends & family all about this beautiful location in Hot Springs, NC! :)

Cozy and Inviting... Loving on Brook's Farm!

September 11, 2023 was our 25th Anniversary! What a treat to stay at Brooks Cabin to celebrate!!! Thanks again to our Hosts, Danni & her Dad, Tommy! Talk about sweet, friendly, and accomodating...we couldn't have asked for better hosts! The cabin had everything we needed and more! Fresh eggs in the fridge and lots of condiments and spices to use. Clean with cozy decor, comfortable beds, lovely wrap around porch with one side screened in with a table and chairs, hammock, sofa and much more... so inviting! The farm animals like Abbey, who guarded the sheep and Black Cat who kissed your hand with every stroke were adorable. The Hot Tub and Fire Pit area was fun! The gorgeous plantings and flowers, spice garden, cherry tomatoes and blooms were a magnet for butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds!!! Be sure to check out their greenhouses and listen to Danni and Tommy share some history of the farm! They even gave us some plants for our 25th!! Our experience was priceless! We will return...Lord willing!

A Slice of Heaven

Let me begin by saying that the pictures you see on VRBO do not represent the beauty of this cabin. There are so many details that you can fall in love with! The landscaping is beautiful, with tons of butterflys fluttering about. We came up to spend my son's 16th birthday weekend and do some rafting. Danni and her father, Tom are wonderful people. You will feel like you are part of the family. There is a story for thing you lay your eyes on. I recommend taking the time to listen to Tommy tell some stories. He is a treasure! We loved hanging out with the sheep, chickens, and the hog. Their dogs are the sweetest and really enjoy getting and showing affection. Black Cat (that's his name) became our buddy quickly. The view frome the fire pit area is amazing especially at sunrise! Our first night, we were able to see the Milky Way and a few comets which was a special treat! This is a special place in spectacular part of our state. You will have a hard time leaving, I know i did. Much love to Tommy, Danni, and the family.

Beautiful location and property

The property is very beautiful, nice view of mountains and landscaping is lovely. Plenty of room for kids to run around and property is private. Loved the screened porch and relaxing in the chair swing and reading. Nighttime was difficult as the farm dogs barked thru the night and the noise was overwhelming at times. The roosters on the property, kept about 100 feet from the house, would start crowing around 4:30 every morning and echoed thru the house. We are not light sleepers, having slept thru tornado sirens, hail storms and new roof being put on our house, etc but we were all woken each night by the dogs and roosters. The roosters crowed every few seconds from 4:30 AM until around noon. It was very tiring with no one getting a full night's sleep during the weeklong trip. Two full nights and days the dogs barked nonstop, no clue why they just would not stop barking it was a bit maddening. The property owner also stopped by a few times a day to work on the farm which wasn't bothersome except they had several large dogs that were off leash during these visits and so we had to keep our animals inside during these times and never knew when to expect them, sometimes the dogs would be loose at the property without a person and would hang around for awhile, this is not something that we enjoyed as we had to keep our animals put up and we didn't feel comfortable with the strange very large dogs showing up randomly. Overall it was not the peaceful mountain experience we wanted.

Our stay at the cabin was a nice long weekend getaway central to Asheville, NC and the Great Smoky mountains, and white water rafting in Marshall, NC. We made day trips to each location and the cabin was in a beautiful remote and relaxing spot. The hosts were great, and even spent time with my son feeding the animals on their farm. They also have a working nursery, so we enjoyed getting to peruse the greenhouses. The only downside was the cabin had a little funky smell, but it's an old house and not entirely negative as it kind of reminded me of my grandparents farm house. We got an air freshener and that helped. Not a huge issue, but just a little thing we addressed. The check in and communication process was excellent! We also enjoyed sitting by the fire on the patio and taking in the view. The number of outdoor areas for relaxation was a nice touch and the hot tub was clean. It was also very convenient to have laundry as we definitely needed it after all the outdoor activities we did.

We missed this dream spot the moment we pulled away, and we're already thinking of when we can return. The cabin is truly situated on a little slice of heaven, and if you love farms as much as we do, you really can't find a better accommodation, as rolling, verdant hills with sweet roaming creatures flank you on every side. The porch situation is also top-notch, and we loved spending most of our time on the screened -in porch, watching the animals and fireflies, reveling in the gorgeous views. And the outdoor shower itself is reason enough to stay there! The best water pressure you've ever experienced with direct access to breathtaking views The house leaves a few things to be desired, including kitchen implements, but it's cozy and charming, and ultimately was just fine considering all the property had to offer in total! Truly a gem of a find. We are so lucky they are sharing this Appalachian Farm Dream!
