Situated in the community of Cleone, 2 miles north of the Fort Bragg city limits, in a country type setting, close to one of the best beaches and coastal accesses, the North Coast Retreat is the perfect get-away. The house is well appointed for families; friends and remote workers, as well as those who want to enjoy life, appreciating the beauty of nature and the coastal spirit. Just a short walk to the beach, where beautiful ocean views and sunsets are abundant. Bright skies, galaxies of stars, and the calming sound of the ocean are prevalent at this one acre property. Deer, birds and other wild life are thriving on the property for viewing enjoyment. Located close to MacKerricher State Park and the Haul Road paved trail, which provides a bike/walk path that takes you to Glass Beach, as well as the many galleries, shops, restaurants, and other attractions in the downtown area of Fort Bragg. Take a step back from busy lifestyles to enjoy the coastal spirit while staying at the North Coast Retreat. The house has a new roof with solar power for energy efficiency.

Relaxing vacation home walking distance to beach and trails. Our family loved staying in this home! The home was cozy and clean with comfortable beds and plenty of kids books and games. There was a game room in the garage with ping pong, pool, and air hockey that my kids loved. Also a sun room with darts and plenty of space to relax. The backyard was beautifully landscaped and had a fire pit perfect for chilly evenings. The house is a short walk to the beach and about a 5 mile bike ride into town on the beach trail, which was a highlight of our trip. We highly recommend this house for families!

Very well equipped, very comfortable,great mattresses. We tried to think of something they didn't have: a garlic press.Great communication with the owner. Lovely yard to sit in and look at the deer. Close to the campground where my kids were staying. Thank you!

Beautiful home and outdoor space

Wonderful property and location. Hosts are very communicative and clear with instructions. My favorite feature was the fire pit as it sparkled at night (fire can be seen through the holes in an old washing machine drum). We thoroughly enjoyed are stay, had everything we could need and more. Thank you for sharing your lovely beach home. We look forward to returning.

Great house to host a family of 6

This little gem is nicely stocked in a great location just a little walk to the beach. Our 4 generation family of 6 fit perfectly. This little neighborhood is quiet and safe. The kitchen is well stocked. It's always nice to have paper goods provided and not have to run out and grab some. The toys available, the fire pit and the sun room were our granddaughter's favorite. Communication with the hosts was very easy. The decision to rent here again would be an easy yes.

Poor septic system

The property was beautiful and the house was very well maintained. The septic system backed up into the showers, and both toilets. We had to move to a hotel with 5 people and 3 dogs. There was a separate unit behind the house that we discovered had a person living there which was not an owner of the house. We did receive a refund, but it was inconvenient.

Great peaceful vacation

The house was great! Well stocked home with plenty to do. The garden was beautiful as well as the wildlife! The garage games was a great way to unwind the days spent in the sun at the beach! Will definitely be booking there again!

Peaceful

Howard and Kelly own a beautiful and fully stocked home in Cleone, CA. We stayed Saturday through Monday and had a great time relaxing. I fell in love with the sunroom and flower garden in the backyard. We were greeted by 4 deer that were eating in the back. The house is clean, updated, peaceful and just up the road from a beach. The house is easily accessible, and communication was top notch. I would LOVE to stay in this home again in the future.

This is a lovely place. The house is spacious and welcoming. There were 6 of us and it felt like there would be room for 10 people. It's obvious the owners put in a lot of effort to ensure guests have whatever they need. The house was fully stocked. Everything was nice and clean. We played ping pong and air hockey, barbecued, and had a camp fire. There was one gotcha, though. The posting said the house is pet friendly, but it made no mention of an additional charge for bringing a dog. I didn't find out about that charge until after we had left. Hopefully by the time you are reading this they will have updated the posting to mention the pet fee.

Weekend family trip

We had a great time staying here! The kids loved all the activities in the garage. The property was super cute and very comfortable for our family of four! We enjoyed walking to Ward Ave beach access each day. We would definitely stay here again.

Everything you need and more!

Beautiful home! This has to be the cleanest beach property we’ve rented. Even for being a pet friendly property there was no indication of any pets previously. The gardens were gorgeous. The deer visited daily. Even a little frog greeted us the first night on the doorbell. The common area with the double doors on each wall were great for fresh air and ocean breeze. My daughter could not get enough of ping pong and pool. The amenities were plenty and the house very well stocked and so simple to navigate. A short 5 minute walk down to the bike trail. If I had one suggestion, it would be to add a dog water and food bowl. It was an amazing time. I look forward to our next stay. Thank you!!

Short walk to the beach

Had a wonderful relaxing time with our son and dog. Got up each morning and took the short 5 minute walk to the beach for a beautiful morning walk. House was clean, well stocked, and we had some pretty awesome ping pong battles. Backyard is beautiful and we ate dinner outside each night, roasted marshmallows and watched the deer at the back fence. Short drive into Fort Bragg. Overall a great stay.

Fort Bragg Gem!

What an amazing home! Not only was it absolutely spotless, but our hosts, Howard and Kelly, have thought of everything a guest might need and provided it! We cooked in the kitchen and had everything we needed. The house is bright and lovely. The backyard garden is beautiful and we enjoyed sitting on the deck watching the deer and the sunset. The home is within easy walking distance of the beach, and and less than five minutes from downtown Fort Bragg. We will definitely be staying here again! Highly recommend!

Coastal Getaway

This house was the perfect spot for a family getaway to the coast. The proximity to the beach was perfect. The house was as shown on line (if not better), and the house was comfortable, well stocked and the yard was gorgeous. The hosts were very responsive. We would definitely stay here again in the future.

Great place with everything you need.

We enjoyed the neighborhood with a short and easy walk to the ocean and beaches. This home has everything you need and the backyard is beautiful! The owners were helpful and easy to communicate with! Definitely will stay here again on next visit to Ft Bragg.

Perfect place in Fort Bragg

Our stay here was bledded by a Doe and her 3 babies munching in the yard. The house was very comfortable and the location was a perfect distance fro town. We would definitely stay here again

Howard and Kelly bought the North Coast Retreat several years ago and have been busy updating and enhancing the property. They live in the Bay Area and plan to use the property as a family vacation spot and private retreat upon retirement. The property and area provide them soul replenishment from busy lifestyles and work schedules. During hot summer days, the ocean breeze is refreshing/cooling and the clean air is beneficial during the bad air quality days now common in California during wild fire season.

The location is premium! Ward Avenue wraps along the ocean front with direct beach access in several areas. Many homes in the neighborhood are vacation rentals or family owned retreats. When there is fog in the downtown area of Fort Bragg or nearby Mendocino, the blue skies of this neighborhood are appreciated. The property is located outside of the city limits, with a rural type setting. The property has a detached cottage, which is sometimes rented. An RV site at rear of then property is for occasional use by owners; it has previously been rented on VRBO.

The home has a sun room that can be used as a game room with board games, dart board with darts, ping pong table with paddles and balls, ladder ball set, croquette, bocce ball, corn hole game, and beach toys provided for use. The property has a park like backyard that has deer, many varieties of birds, and other wildlife to watch daily. The home has a private gated back yard as well, with a deck, patio furniture, and a BBQ.
