The small apt is entirely adequate but many broken and unmaintained fixtures reduced the experience for us. Most troubling was the presence of black mold behind the toilet in the poorly ventilated bathroom. Getting into the gated community took 10 minutes each night and security treated us as second class citizens in this wealthy, gated community since we were Vacasa guests. The property is adequate but we will likely not stay here again.

The community where this place is is simply gorgeous. The Vrbo is quite like a college apartment. It’s a lot smaller than I thought, and needs to be updated. The toilet shower area was kinda gross.

Gated community

If you want security this is a quiet and safe place. However, if you plan on being out past 8pm be prepared to have a difficult time getting in the gate. Each night we had to call in at the kiosk and the last night took a longer than usual time to get in. Not the place if you want to be if you are out late. Also the headboard on the bed is situated so that the pillows fall through. It is ok but we probably won’t be staying there again.

Bend Getaway

Had a bit of a sterile feel like I was renting the property from a virtual person or a property management company. Nice apartment in pretty gated community. A bit weird with the gates and the locks and no personal touch. Great bed and bedding! Overall good spot for the cost.

Wonderful!

This place was lovely, quiet, and private! We loved our stay. We did arrive 45 minutes early and the toilet was not cleaned, it had feces on it.

Coming from California, I had no clue what to expect and could only go off of the listing and description for choosing a place to stay. Upon arrival we were immediately taken back by the fact that the size of this place is grossly misrepresented. First, it is a dual unit, two locked off vacation rentals as part of one apartment/condo. The upstairs is a large unit and the bottom is a small 1 bedroom kitchenette. The listing says you will have the unit to yourself, but does not note that it is below another rental which was very very noisy. The listing also says it is 800 square feet. After measuring the apartment, we determined it was 320 square feet, about the size of a hotel room. I could tell it was a simple unit from the photos, but those can sometimes be deceiving so I figured there were spaces that weren’t in the photos. Not the case. In fact there’s a photo of the top floor balcony, not part of this rental at all. I would have never rented a hotel room sized kitchenette for 4! The couch did not even seat 3 comfortably, there was very little room for our things, and if you use the fold out couch you can’t walk around the unit because it takes up the entire room. That’s how small this place is. The listing also says there is coin laundry on site but there is not. We called the rental company repeatedly after check in about the size and the laundry issue and got no response. After over a week of calling and escalating this situation we were offered a $60 refund.

Suite in a golf course

This is a suite in a condo in a gated private golf resort. It was functional as a place to stay in Bend, but was not really convenient for walking or biking to any Bend attractions. You will not have access to resort amenities. This is listed by Vacasa - read the vacasa listing before booking as the VRBO listing is not accurate with regards to amenities. Specifically, there is one parking space and Vacasa will recommend that if there is an additional vehicle that you park it at Deschutes brewery over a mile away. The actual local manager was helpful. Also, there is another rental upstairs. There was a dog left alone that was howling while we were there. Maybe you will not be as unlucky.

Unresolved problems

We arrived after the gatehouse closed and the access code did not work. My husbands was sitting on the side to put shoes on the bed and the frame broke, we had to move out a day early as it wasn’t fixed, we have not had any resolution with owner or Vrbo. The property owner was not available or willing to help with the problem
