We’re disappointed to see this review, as it does not reflect the condition of our home or the experience we provide. All amenities were fully functioning and well maintained during this stay, and no concerns about maintenance were reported to us at any time. This review appears to be in response to our inability to issue a full refund a few days into a month-long reservation, as the refundable cancellation period had already passed. We followed VRBO’s policies and offered at our own initiative to refund any nights we could rebook. The review also came after charges were submitted for damaged caused during the stay. We take pride in maintaining our property to a high standard, as reflected in our many positive reviews, and we remain committed to providing a clean, well-cared-for home for all guests.

While we appreciate your comments on our responsiveness, we are surprised and disappointed by the nature of this review, as many of these concerns were never mentioned during our communication throughout your two-week stay. To address your points directly: * Communication vs. Feedback: We pride ourselves on being "the most responsive hosts" you’ve dealt with. We addressed your requests for a lightbulb, internet troubleshooting, and extra towels immediately. It is difficult to rectify issues when they are only disclosed in a review after checkout. * Property Condition: We maintain our home diligently. While it is a traditional Merida property, "lack of care" is an inaccurate characterization. Our photos are kept current to reflect the home’s character, and our maintenance team is on-site regularly. * Check-In: Our check-in time is 4:00 PM. We allowed you to drop bags at 11:30 AM as a courtesy while the home was being prepared. We cannot bypass the cleaning process for a full early check-in when a prior guest has just departed and the request is made last minute. * Electricity Charges: To call a disclosed utility fee a "scam" is a serious and unfounded accusation. As stated clearly in our listing and Guide Book, electricity is a separate charge based on meter readings. As an experienced traveler to Merida, you likely understand that air conditioning in this climate is the primary driver of high consumption. Our solar panels allow us to offer a rate of $4.5 MXN per kW—significantly lower than the high-consumption (DAC) rates charged by the utility company. We take all feedback seriously, but we stand by the quality of our home and the transparency of our business practices. Best regards.
