Spacious Cabin on Cedar Creek, Shenandoah's hidden getaway!

Spacious Cabin on Cedar Creek - Make memories at Shenandoah's best hidden getaway! Cabin is on 30 acres of creek front property. Enjoy the quiet tranquility of the forest, take out the kayaks, do a little fishing, or visit our egg laying chickens.

Ideas for your Cabin Experience...

Enjoy a cup of coffee or tea before breakfast, taking in stunning views overlooking Cedar Creek from this two-level cabin, deep in the Virginia countryside.

Cool off in the creek at the local "Swimmin' hole", which ranges from 2 to 4 feet deep, or cast your line in the hopes of catching a brook trout, or other native fish. Bring your PFD, fishing rod, and water shoes. Two Kayaks are available to paddle about - or you can coordinate with your hosts for a 2+ hour kayaking trip on the creek. Extended trips may be dependent on rainfall. Additional charge will apply.

Relax in one of two hammocks in the front yard or lounge down by the Creek. Spend the cool mountain evenings roasting marshmallows by our natural rock fire pit - firewood is provided for guests. Watch fireflies dance among the trees, while you sip a glass of local wine from our two-tiered deck.

Virginia wildlife abounds - walk the trails along the creek, woodlands, and meadows of the Cabin's 30 acres. Sit quietly and you may just see a doe and her fawn, wild turkeys, or a fox or mink. Don't sit quietly and you might see a squirrel. ;) Enjoy wild edibles when in season: Wineberries, Hickory Nuts, Walnuts, and Pawpaws. Yum!

We also have chickens on the property. We don't have a rooster, so you won't be woken by "cockel-doodle-do" in the morning. You can sleep in.

* AC/Heat, and Ceiling fans, as well as an indoor wood stove. Wood provided.

* Kitchen has a Stove, Oven, Microwave and Refrigerator/Freezer, and filtered water.
* Glasses, plates, silverware, pots/pans and cooking utensils.
* Keurig Coffee maker, kettle, and toaster. K-cups provided
* Clean Linens are provided for the beds, per stay
* Outdoor gas grill, for your grilling pleasure
* Travel Crib available on request - Let us know at booking time
* Washer and Dryer for Laundry.

We are a newly retired couple living in another house on the same property about .3 miles away. We will absolutely give you space to use the cabin as your own, but we are available if an issue arises. You may see us around the property gardening or tending to our chickens.

Rich and Mary's gorgeous cabin was exactly what my partner and I were looking for in an October getaway: peaceful seclusion, waterfront access, and close proximity to Shenandoah National Park. We were able to spend two full days exploring, hiking, and fishing the north and central regions of Shenandoah as well as Cedar Creek and Seven Bends State Park. We absolutely loved getting to light a fire in the indoor stove each night to warm up and relax after our adventures. Rich and Mary's recommendations for our stay, Old Dominion Doggery & Burger Shoppe for dinner and taking the climb to Woodstock Tower for unbelievably stunning views, were added highlights to an already amazing trip. In sum, Rich and Mary were fantastic and responsive hosts, and we truly appreciated their wonderful accommodations.

If you are looking for a relaxing getaway in a beautiful country setting, this is your place! We had a wonderful long weekend hiking, and visiting some of the local spots, but mostly just relaxing at the cabin. I really appreciated the comfortable beds and high-quality linens and towels. The soaking tub is fabulous! The deck overlooking the river was a favorite spot of ours. Highly recommend!

This place was everything we had hoped for and more. I was there for 3 nights with my kids (ages 6, 5, and 3) and we hardly left the property. They had so much fun playing in the creek and on the deck, but the highlights of the trip were the hammocks and roasting marshmallows. Rich and Mary thought of everything and truly provide a wonderful place for a family vacation.

Peaceful and serene

Incredible location. Beautifully designed and decorated cabin. Hosts thought of so many nice extras to make your stay wonderful. Mary and Rich were warm and welcoming . Definitely deserves a 10 star rating.

Perfect escape

The cabin was very well kept and had great amenities on the land! We enjoyed every bit of reconnecting with nature, trying canoeing and making great homemade meals. The beds were so comfy and the all around atmosphere made it a perfect place to escape the busy life and reconnect! Rich and Mary are great hosts!!

Family Staycation

Wow! My husband and I wanted a few days away with our boys before Mother’s Day and Rich and Mary’s place was a dream! The love and attention to detail that they have put into their rental is incredible. Rich met us upon arrival and was extremely kind and welcoming. The space was cozy and inviting. Our family enjoyed fishing and unplugging for some quality time together. It was very clean and stocked with most things you could possibly need. We can’t wait to go back!

Perfect Getaway!

We wanted a place to stay that had all the amenities and was super comfortable, but that was also close to all the great hiking in the area. This place was perfect! We hiked every day, and came home to a cozy home after. When we weren't out and about, the creek was a nice place to relax and cool off! Rich and Mary were great, and very communicative, making for a great trip.

Quiet, relaxing getaway in Shenandoah Valley

This cabin is a perfect way to enjoy nature and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Rich and Mary were excellent hosts. The cabin is situated on a hill overlooking Cedar Creek and was super cozy and rustic but also luxurious. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there over Veteran's Day weekend. We enjoyed kayaking and walking the trails around the property. The only disappointment was that we could not have a fire because of the drought. We will definitely visit again during warmer whether so we can kayak some more and enjoy the swimming hole.

Cedar Creek Getaway

It was a great getaway for spring break and early birthday for my daughter. Cabin was well stocked and clean. Had a great time walking the trails and visiting the goats. The chickens were also fun to watch everyday. Will have to come back when the weather is warmer to use the kayaks.

Quiet, peaceful and cozy stay

We fully enjoyed our stay in Strasburg and would love to be back to enjoy it in different seasons. The home was clean, very welcoming and had everything we needed. I loved all the wood and the cabin feel. Rich and Mary were amazing hosts and awesome folks who go above and beyond to make sure your stay is memorable.

Perfect for our family

The cabin was super clean and stocked with everything we could have needed. We really enjoyed swimming and fishing in the creek. Lots of small touches that really made our stay amazing. Rich and Mary even brought us fresh eggs twice!

Wonderful cabin in the woods

We had a wonderful stay in the cabin on Cedar Creek. The property inside and outside is well maintained. The owners were very helpful and easy to reach. The swimming hole and kayaks were a great extra as well as the gas bbq, airconditioning and high speed internet.

Splendid Sanctuary

This amazing property and hosts did not disappoint. The cabin was exceptionally clean and comfortable. We especially enjoyed the gathering places on the property. The fresh eggs, variety of coffees and teas for the Keurig and s'mores ingredients were a very thoughtful touch. We enjoyed this relaxing retreat so much we are definitely coming back.

Thanksgiving Trip 2023

Lovely cabin with great views. Had an amazing time, our hosts where very accommodating. Cabin had some basic spices, extra blankets, and plenty of necessitates which were very welcomed when needed. Ultimately we would love to stay here again and will certainly plan to in the future. Thanks so much Rich & Mary!

Great little getaway spot

My family of 4 had a fun weekend getaway. From playing in the creek & fishing to hanging out on the hammocks, having a fire pit & making s’mores. The hosts went above and beyond to accommodate seeing their goats, they provided a hand written note with a s’mores kit, there was shampoo and soap provided along with a variety of kitchen necessities. We had a great time and would go back!

Awesome place - Awesome hosts

The place is beautiful. The sound of the running creek behind the house is so peaceful. The views are fantastic. Everything we needed was provided. Rich and Mary are fantastic hosts. Rich answered all of our questions and gave suggestions for things to do in the area. We had a wonderful time and would certainly stay there again. My only regret is that we did not spend more time at the cabin.

A relaxing getaway surrounded by nature

The cabin exceeded all our expectations. Inside, lovely decor with nice furnishings and quality linens and modern amenities that made for a very comfortable stay. Outside, a beautiful view of the water from the deck, easy access to the creek and nature trails, and very secluded and peaceful surroundings. It was also neat to watch the chickens each day and to meet the goats nearby. Rich and Mary are wonderful, gracious hosts who made us feel very welcome and made sure all of our needs were met. We look forward to staying again.

Reconnected with nature

We were looking for a private, rustic place to satisfy our much-needed time away and this place delivered!! It was exactly as advertised!! The house was very clean and the property was very well maintained. You’re surrounded by nature with the trees, wildlife, and sounds of the creek. The owners were very friendly and full of local information. Communication is definitely a strength!! I would highly recommend for a relaxing getaway. I’d love to return again soon!!

My wife and I are semi-retired, and love country living. We raised 3 children (now adults) in Northern Virginia, and moved to the Shenandoah Valley once we were "empty nesters". We fell in love with the natural beauty that is here, including the animals that live in the forest, and the birds that come to visit. Ask me about all the animals we've seen. You may be surprised!

The Cabin on Cedar Creek has its own unique beauty - where you feel like you're in another world. It's secluded ... but it's also close to Shenandoah National Park, the Shenandoah River, and other attractions such as Shenandoah Caverns!

We also love the history of this land, which dates back to 1760 - prior to the founding of our country. When you're here, ask me about the settlers who once lived here.
