Cheery accessible lakefront cottage-quiet side of Lake Michigan in Door County

Door County is one of our family's favorite spots--it never disappoints. Whether you like hiking, swimming or theatre & shopping--there is something for everyone in the area. Nestled directly on Lake Michigan our spot is close to Cave Point County Park & Whitefish Dunes State Park, which has a beach wheelchair to use on their trails when you want a bit of dune trail adventure.
Jacksonport is a couple miles north of the cottage & can be a fun place to enjoy a cup of coffee, watch the sunrise at the park or take a kayak tour of the lakeshore.

We designed our cottage with families, like ours, in mind. Our youngest, often in a wheelchair, needs some accommodations & so we designed it with a wheelchair/walker friendly bathroom, shower & bedroom. All doorways, halls and entrances are zero entry for ease of moving around the downstairs. And the main features (fireplaces, tv, dining) are on the first floor thoughtfully designed for togetherness. Gather around the outdoor chiminea for s'mores in the evening & listen to the waves as you watch the stars come out, all accessible with a wide sidewalk for wheelchair/walker users to join in the gathering.

We are proud and thankful to have the best professional cleaning service prepare our cottage in between stays as that is an important piece of hosting to us.

The upstairs has a fun catwalk leading to an upper deck facing Lake Michigan and the upstairs also has 2 bedrooms- one with a desk for those who may need a fresh work space in a beautiful spot.
Our cottage can be enjoyed in any season with fireplaces inside and on the cozy porch. Bring books & cross country skis in the winter & warm up by one of the two fireplaces or enjoy family time exploring one of the nearby parks or swimming in the Great Lake Michigan in the summer.

Although our location is close to numerous places and spots to explore, we think you can be perfectly content with our cheerful cottage refuge that offers beauty & activity--inside & out.

What a wonderful vacation home! The house was immaculate and the decor so charming. The location was private and beautiful; surrounded by woods and gorgeous lake views. Would love to stay again someday.

Beautiful house with a fun aesthetic. Kitchen and grill were well equipped for us to cook during the week. Beds were comfortable and there was more space than our group needed, which was nice. There is only one shower but we all loved the shower! It's really nice. Enjoyed watching the sun rise over the lake. Coast is rocky at the cottage but very close drive to the state park for a sand beach.

Words can't describe how amazing this place is. It's a quaint farmhouse on Lake Michigan with an incredible view, especially at sunrise. The view at the end of the concrete walkway perfectly frames the sunrise between the trees. I can still hear the sound of the waves gently crashing on the shore as I'm sitting in the airport headed home.The house itself was well accommodated and clean. We loved everything about it. There is a nice view from the second level balcony, and the screened in porch is quite peaceful. There is also a nice area outside for a fire in the evening. The concrete walkway were also very nice and made it safer for walking around the house and down to the lake.The host was incredible and answered any questions we had within minutes. I would recommend this rental to anyone who is looking for a peaceful place that is just minutes from all that Door County has to offer.

Beautiful Family Week in Door County

We had a wonderful time at the house on the lake! The place was true to all its photos, was wonderfully clean and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. It’s adorably decorated, and absolutely full of charm. The location is peaceful and quiet, and very convenient. All our communication with the host was easy, prompt and considerate. Truly could not have been a better experience!

Door County family vacation-friendly

Charming cottage, comfortable for 3 adults, 4 children. A few yards from Lake MI. Plenty of outdoor seating, fireplace. Quiet area, but close access to all of Door County's offerings. Worked perfectly for us! Thanks for a great stay.

Beautiful cottage, very family friendly!

We loved our stay here! The layout and amenities of the home were perfect for our family of 2 parents and 6 children. Loved the bunkbeds and trundle. So many homes only have queen beds and kids don't always sleep well when they have to share a bed. Beds were comfy too! The location is also wonderful. Loved being so close to Whitefish Dunes and Jacksonport. And being on the water was a huge perk. So lovely to wake up in the morning and have coffee right at the edge of the lake. The home was perfectly clean, adorably decorated, and full of great books, games and puzzles. Owners respond quickly and were very kind. Definitely recommend!

So Relaxing

We are a group of 6 women who stayed for a girls trip. It was perfect. From the sound of the waves to the adorable decor, this spot provided our group with the most relaxing week away. The beds were comfy and the kitchen had everything we needed for light meals and cocktails. 3 in our group worked part time from the house and had no internet issues. The location is great, 20 min to Ephraim, 25 to Sister Bay. Easy drive. We’d definitely stay again. Thanks so much to our hosts! 😊

Perfect spot on the Quiet Side

Amazing and accessible

The property is beautiful and accessible for anyone with mobility issues--walker, rollator, wheelchair, crutches--and anyone without. The views of Lake Michigan are lovely, and the woods surrounding the house give it a nice sense of privacy. The decor is charming, and there are labels and instructions for everything you need. Becca is responsive, kind, and a super host. We're already planning our return trip.

Wonderful Family Time

The sun rising over Lake Michigan fills the house with an orange glow. So beautiful. We loved cooking s’more in the patio fireplace. Puzzles, Uno and fun games too! The perfect getaway.

Fantastic Lake Michigan Rental

We had a wonderful time at the lake house. Everything was as stated and seen in the listing. We especially enjoyed spending our time on the porch or by the lake listening to the waves crash on the rocks. The beds were very comfortable, everything was clean and tidy, and we only wished we could have stayed longer.

Best house in Door County

This house was beautiful, charming and so relaxing. It had all the amenities of a peaceful getaway and the wheelchair access was a big bonus. This made it possible for everyone in our party to be together, enjoy the beautiful sunrise together and have a great time. I really appreciated the hospitality of the host as well.

Adorable Cottage

Bright, cheerful cottage with magnificent views of Lake Michigan! We enjoyed everything about our stay at Blue Cedar Point Cottage. Property was clean, decorated beautifully, beds were comfortable, host was responsive and helpful...so many details and little extras to make us feel right at home. It's conveniently located to all areas of Door County while providing a quiet, relaxing getaway on the lake. We hope to visit again and spend more time just enjoying the cottage and it's surroundings!

Peaceful, quiet getaway

The cottage was perfect for my wife and I to get away for a few days. We usually want to leave our lodgings and "go do," but in this case we were very content to stay in, cook, sit by the fire and watch the lake. So very relaxing!

Our family loves the beautiful Wisconsin parks & often camped in Door County as our kids grew. We also loved vintage cottage charm. Although older constructed cottages provide quaint charm they aren't accessible in design. So, building this esp. with our family's needs in mind, we wanted to share our wheelchair accessible with others to enjoy beautiful views, make memories & spend time with loved ones in all seasons--of the year & in life. Our fireplace has stones from significant places of both our families' histories-Stan's family farm north of Madison, WI & Becca's family cottage on St. Joe Island, Ontario. The flag over the galley kitchen is from the Cliff's Victory's captain, through his friendship with Becca's dad. We love the freighters' history found in Door County & love that the flag connects us to those Great Lake Ships. We have found great refreshment in the summer swimming & many activities in each surrounding communities & we've also found refueling of our souls in the snowfall with a fire going & good books to read. Our hope is that this spot can provide others with the gift of togetherness, memories, adventures & blessings so hearts return home full.

We love the hustle of all the shops & artists on the Bay side of Door County but, are most refreshed by the 'quiet side' on Lake Michigan--known for the quiet water activity that we enjoy most--kayaking, swimming, paddleboarding & reading by the waterside.

So to be on Lake Michigan is a stunning gift! One we want to share! The location is optimal for staying in and enjoying activities & togetherness but, also close to beautiful parks, great restaurants, horse back riding & lighthouse exploring! We consider ourselves very blessed to be in our beautiful spot & share it with joy!
