Escape to a Northwoods Cabin with private island!

A comfy & cozy retreat in the Northwoods of Minnesota awaits you and yours for a quiet space to relax and enjoy the designed indoor & outdoor spaces. A small rural town with simple amenities is a half mile away or larger cities just 20+ miles away with outdoor activities galore. We have several State Parks nearby so perfect for hiking with your dogs. Our 80-foot bridge to a private island on a pond is a perfect setting to read a book or play cards with some friends. Our unique custom speakeasy basement bar and surrounding intimate spaces will keep you at ease.

Our space is private and nestled among towering pine trees on a private pond with an accessible island via a covered custom bridge. We are gardeners so have built seasonal flower gardens and Japanese style gardens over the years. We love sharing our little piece of heaven to others. Each season has something special to share. Our home has been fully remodeled for guests to enjoy. We have ample safe space for your furry babies to roam and explore too!

Guests have access to:
Beautiful grounds with plenty of space to roam
Perfect star gazing and if you’re lucky, you’ll see the Northern Lights
Indoor wood fireplace for cozy nights
Seasonal outdoor wood sauna. If want to use the outdoor sauna, there is an extra $100 charge which includes prep and firewood. We can chat more in detail if you want to use it!
Indoor electric sauna (can pour water for steam!)
Private Bridge over pond to an Island House with small living room setting.
Two-car garage (good for snowmobilers and 4-wheelers too!)

Other things to note:
We have an indoor electric sauna and an outdoor wood sauna. Perfect for relaxation! The outdoor wood sauna has an extra fee as it entails set up and firewood.

If use of the indoor fireplace is wanted, we have Duraflame logs for a small fee and provide instructions.

Outdoor sauna is not allowed in winter due to potential for running water to freeze.

Brand new bridge! Escape to the island house to watch ducks or listen to the frogs.

Relaxing Retreat

Our group of 6 had a very relaxing stay. The beds were very comfortable, the house was clean and there were several spaces throughout the property that we were able to make use of. The check in process was easy and the hosts were available with any questions.

Lovely, quaint getaway.

A friend of mine and our dogs wanted a weekend away from the “rat race” of the city and work. The hosts were very prompt, responsive and wonderful to work with in the booking and stay. Their home is very peaceful and very well put together.

Peaceful escape

The property was very peaceful. Lots of quiet spaces outdoors to be still in. The cabin was very nicely decorated and equipped with amenities! Thank you for a wonderful place to stay in the North Woods while we celebrated pur cousin's wedding!

Peaceful Oasis

Incredible space for family and friends! We had little ones with us and there was so much to do to keep them entertained! Plenty of space for hanging out and relaxing! Owners were amazing with communication and how they present their home. Beautiful town, beautiful home, and beautiful outdoors space!

10 year getaway

We stayed here with two other couples to celebrate our 10-year wedding anniversary. Brandon and Derek were extremely communicative and friendly. We enjoyed playing croquet, making breakfast in the well stocked kitchen, and ending the night at the groovy bar downstairs. The sauna was a hit as well. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to coming back with friends.

Slice of Paradise

Stayed here for a long weekend with friends. The home is beautiful with plenty of space to relax on the property or drive 20-45 minutes in whichever direction to find something else to do. Only real shopping option is Dollar General down the road, but it was good enough for our needs.

Lovely woodsy retreat

Surrounded by green trees and carefully chosen plantings with a delightful deck, and a little pond, this place is idyllic. The interior is idiosyncratic, but memorable and very comfortable. We had a wonderful stay. It was one small problem concerning the coffee maker, but the owners responded quickly and helpful.

Beautiful and relaxing

Great spot. Big yard for the dogs, flowers and fruit trees, space for the teens to get away from the adults. Several state parks within 30 min but you wouldn’t need to leave. Cabin has lovely amenities. Nice hosts as well :).

Amazing home!

Derek’s home is amazing!!! Everyone in our group couldn’t believe the speak easy inspired basement bar! Derek was more than helpful, kind and funny. We had plans of exploring the area, but couldn’t bring ourselves to leave. Highly recommend and can’t wait to come back!!

Beautiful home, great location

We stayed here with a family group (including dogs) for a quiet long weekend and could not have been more pleased. The house itself is beautifully furnished and well-appointed. The care and pride the owners take in the home is evident in every detail. The owners were also very welcoming and gracious, and were helpful in promptly answering questions and accommodating our individual needs. The location was excellent - we loved feeling secluded in nature while also being close to local attractions like Duluth and state parks

Great cabin with luxury touches!

This is a cabin. It is finished with very nice interior and exterior spaces. There are many luxurious features throughout. It was very hot during our stay but with cross breezes and open windows it stayed cool inside! Derek & Brandon are fabulous hosts. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to our friends and family. This cabin is a great space to relax, recharge & reconnect with friends or family!

Wonderful!

This place is a lesson in history. So many antique items and modern appliances! The bedrooms were nice and spacious and the living quarters are amazing! So many things to look at and the bridge to the little house on the island are very cute! The flowers were blooming and the outdoor property is well kept and sitting on the deck and looking at the flowers, water, and bridge was beautiful! There were 6 friends staying and it was spacious enough for all. I would recommend this cabin for a getaway and we will be going back again next year. Loved it!

Picturea dont do justice

The house is just off the road but you'd never know it while you are there. This peaceful, cozy home is a perfect place to disconnect. Lots of space to spread out or gather together. Kitchen has plenty of pots/pans and a great stove/oven. Dollar general is a short drive or moderate walk away. I was glad to expierence this home as a cozy winter get away and would definitely pick this place first for summer fun.

It was lovely to get a tour from the host and learn about the history of the house as well as the design elements. I’m amazed at the generations that have cared for and improved the space.The space was cozy and made us feel relaxed. Everything was tidy and clean! The fun puzzles about the house were an added bonus and a good way to pass the time!

Loved it. Everything you'd want

We loved this property. Feels very secluded, but not hard to get to. Beautiful decor that is the perfect mixture of nostalgic cozy cabin with modern fixtures and finishes that make it feel luxurious. They have everything you could ever want including an indoor suana and built-in bar area in the basement. We loved how many games were stocked and available to play, and spent most of our night playing games and laughing and listening to music on the Alexa speakers that were on both the upper and lower levels for use. Our group of 6 friends had a blast and wished we could have stayed longer!
