Loft apartment in a working horse barn. Minutes from Lexington and the VAHC.

Newer one bedroom apartment in the loft of a working horse barn, with spectacular views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The farm is situated in a very quiet and private location yet only minutes from the Virginia Horse Center and from downtown Lexington, home to the Virginia Military Institute and Washington & Lee University. The farm is also located only one quarter mile from the "New Field Farm at Timber Ridge" event venue. Enjoy walking the farm fields and woodland trails. Horse boarding facilities are available. You are welcome to bring bicycles.

This is an amazing property! Once we turned off the main highway, we realized that this was the perfect location for our stay in Lexington. It is a beautiful property, peaceful environment , with two hospitable and attentive hosts. Daily we encountered deer, and once a flock of wild turkey. The mountains in the distance are remarkable! We recommend this listing to anyone wanting to experience the Virginia countryside and the surrounding area of Lexington. Thank you again for sharing your piece of heaven with us!

We have stayed here before and this property never fails to disappoint. The owner is responsive to our needs, and the space is always perfectly clean. We had to use the kitchen this time to cook a meal for a larger group at a horse show we were attending, and the kitchen was great and well stocked. Check in was a breeze, and flexible to our schedule. A big THANK YOU to our fabulous hosts!

Couldn’t have asked for a better stay!

Lovely property, exceptional views, wonderful hosts

We loved our stay atop this beautiful, working horse barn. The apartment was a perfect size for us. Decorated in a gorgeous, farmhouse style with cozy and welcoming touches in every area - extra blankets, luxurious towels, comfy bed and pillows. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed for a comfortable stay and our hosts left little surprises that we so enjoyed. The view - especially the morning sunrises overlooking the pasture and mountains - were breathtaking. We would have loved to sit by the fire with a glass of wine but time didn’t allow. Most importantly, our hosts were warm, communicative and hospitable in every way. We highly recommend this beautiful home away from home.

Stunning views and warm hospitality

We loved our stay at this beautiful property with sweeping views of the Rockbridge hills and Blue Ridge mountains. Doris and Dennis are such generous hosts, and we had so much fun meeting the horses and Jake! The apartment is so cozy and had everything we needed. We only wish we could have spent more time there, and we can’t wait to return for another stay.

Breathtaking view

We had the most amazing time at the cottage. Pictures do not do the property justice. It exceeded expectations. Doris and Dennis were amazing hosts who treated our children so well. Doris had breakfast stocked and the fridge had the essentials. The bed was comfy! Thank you Doris and Dennis!

Historic Mountain Getaway

This is a wonderful mountain getaway on a working horse farm minutes from downtown Lexington. From the moment we booked, almost a month in advance, we received great communication from our Host Doris. Our accommodations were well-appointed and comfortable. Doris provided fresh eggs and milk and all of the drawers were well stocked with spices and cookware. Both Doris and Dennis made time for us to chat when we saw them during our stay. We appreciated their hospitality and their charming getaway. We definitely would stay again!

Little gem!

This is a gem! The hosts are particularly delightful, and you can really feel how much they love the property and how important their guests are to them. The cute apartment is very well appointed and thoughtfully supplied. Everything you could need. My son and I don't have a horse, but if you're horse people this is a particularly great one to know about. Highly recommended!

Beautiful place to stay in Lexington

As a family with a daughter who rides horses, we found this a perfect stay for a horse show weekend at the Virginia Horse Center. The drive to the horse center is a litle further than the standard hotels we typically utilize, but the comfort and ammenities are immensely better. Doris was a pleasure to communicate with and perfectly responsive. The kitchen was stocked as described, and the bed was firm but comfortable. Everything was clean and updated. She had the couch made up for our daughter upon arrival. The property is stunning, and it made our standard horse show weekend more of a mini vacation. Will definitely stay here again!

Amazing time!

This place is incredible. Dennis and Doris are such sweet hosts and made us feel so comfortable. The loft is exceptionally clean and decorated. Very comfortable and they have thought of everything you could possibly need. They have anything you need to cook and the milk and eggs were a special touch! You do not hear any noise from the barn below. Morning coffee outside was so relaxing. There are more things to do in the Lexington area than we expected. Hike to Natural Bridge, a nice downtown with good food and the Drive thru Safari Park was a big hit. We highly recommend this location and will visit it again. Dennis and Doris are such wonderful hosts.

Breathtaking

This loft apartment above the lovely horse stables is off the charts! Owners are so welcoming and have gone out of their way to provide an unforgettable stay in the Shenandoah Valley. Our only regret was not staying a week!

A number of years ago we retired to rural Virginia. We purchased active farm land, built a home, large barn, padlocks and a horse arena. We own several horses, and usually board several more.

Our farm is off the main road, and we have spectacular views of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Lexington is an old fashioned, but very active town 5 miles away. Lexington is home to both the Virginia Military Institute and Washington & Lee University.
