Cute Little Downtown Gem

What a fantastic experience for my long-term stay! The location was perfect—within walking distance to the river trails, restaurants, and the farmers market. Kris was a very attentive host and made sure I had everything I needed. The place was wonderfully comfortable and convenient.

Just another update on my 4th (yes 4th) stay at Kris's place. I've ran out of superlatives in describing Withy. If you're visiting Hamilton just book it. You won't be disappointed

Really great little house in a really great little town

My 3 dogs and I enjoyed our stay at this cute duplex in Hamilton. We were very comfortable and had everything we could possibly need during our stay. I set up some x-pens for a dog turn-out in the nice grassy area in front of the house - with that, and the small fenced side yard, my dogs were able to enjoy some outdoor time watching the squirrels and rabbits while I sat at the umbrelled outdoor table. Kristine is a great landlord! I appreciated being able to use the garage for sports equipment during our stay. The air conditioner cooled the place nicely - and I rarely used it in the evenings as the house was very cool and shaded by a huge tree. Nice neighbors; nice neighborhood. The kitchen was adorable - complete with Kuerig coffee maker! There were so many good place to eat in town that I don't think I can actually list a favorite. In sum: A great little house in a great little town! Would definitely stay there again if I was in the area.

Wow wow and wow

Having planned this trip to visit a friend who I had not seen in 26 years I wanted to stay in a place that was a home away from home. Withy Gate exceeded ALL my expectations. On arrival there were lovely fluffy towels in the spotless bathroom a new LCD TV with plenty of cable TV channels to watch, a WIFI internet connection that was good enough to stream my UK TV when needed (was out hiking and fishing most of the time!!) and even a fantastic fresh bowl of fruit in the kitchen along with a bottle of the local Bitterroot brew. Kris was a marvellous hostess and nothing was too much trouble. Would I stay here again?? In a instant is the answer. A perfect stay in a perfect place with a perfect hostess. Kris, thank you very much in allowing me to stay in your lovely cottage. It was more than I could have asked for. SImon

Happy Haven in Hamilton

A cozy, clean, quiet, neat, well-appointed, safe cottage with a 7 minute walk to the Bitterroot River, Main Street, Library, Museum, Market and other areas of interest. Set back from the street with a large lawn and wonderful patio with huge umbrella and tree which made for pleasant reading and al fresco meals.

Charming cottage in the historic neighborhood area of Hamilton

Perfect, charming, adorable, peaceful, lovely. I could go on with many superlatives and it still it wouldn't be enough. I loved this cottage. It was perfect for my month's stay. The kitchen was complete with everything you need to cook. The refrigerator is small but there is a full size freezer in the garage for your use. The AC cools off the place quite nicely. The grill was great to use while sitting at the patio table. Many places deliver food--just sit outside and wait for it because the house sits on the back of the lot.

Great property

Everything was perfect. Plenty of room for me and my three dogs. Lots of storage. The location was great. I could walk to the library, restaurants and the Saturday market.

Charming Cottage in a Charming Town

We stayed two weeks, and it felt like home. The bed is super comfortable, the kitchen has absolutely everything, and we ate out on the patio every day for breakfast and dinner. Thanks, Kris, for a great stay.

Loved this little place!

Withy Gate is a delightful, comfy house located in a friendly neighborhood only a short walk to downtown or the Bitterroot River. Well located for lots of other activities as well. Kris has thought of everything to make you feel a little pampered, but right at home. Amazing what she got into that lovely little kitchen! Loved it, and hope to do it again!

2nd stay was just as good

As promised, I didn't hesitate to book my 2nd stay with Kris. It felt like coming back home when I walked through the front door. Everything was immaculate and my stay was once again perfect. It was so good in fact that I have already booked for June 2015. I can see this trip being an annual stay for me.

Loved it!

My husband and I spent 4 nights at Withy Gate and were very pleased with it. Clean as a pin with everything we needed and more. Kris's personal touches were appreciated. Loved the patio area and it is located in a great location in Hamilton. We would definitely stay here again!

Cozy and quiet!

We stayed at Withy Gate for 3 weeks and found it to be very comfortable while we visited the Hamilton area. Kris was there to greet us when we arrived and made sure we had everything needed for our stay. Short walking distance to downtown, and grocery. It was very clean and had everything we needed in the kitchen for cooking meals. It was also very convenient to have use of the washer/dryer! We also had great neighbors to share Withy Gate with during our stay which was very nice. Lots to do around the area, close to lakes, Missoula, and Glacier Park. Being in the Bitterroot Valley was just beautiful and we had such great weather. Thanks Kris for your personal touch.

comfortable cottage stay! :)

My husband and I enjoyed a cozy and peaceful stay at Withy Gate - a perfect home away from home! Kris was very responsive and easy to work with - we really appreciated her special touches, including snacks in the fridge, a handmade welcome note, and a list of suggestions for local fun:) The apartment had everything we needed and is adorable and quite spacious. It was such a relaxing getaway and a great location in the heart of town - too bad for the rain, we would have loved bike around town and down to the river :) Kris really thought of everything and was a wonderful hostess! We'll definitely be back!

WONDERFUL 3-MONTH STAY AT WITHY GATE, HAMILTON, MT

We are a retired couple with a dog, and spent Jun-Jul-Aug at this charming property, which is ideally located in the historic district of Hamilton, MT. It is within walking distance of practically everything, including the farmer's market on Saturdays, the free concerts in the park on Tuesdays at noon, and the terrific local coffee shop, River Rising, which has outdoor seating that allowed us to take our dog. Hamilton is also close to fly fishing, hiking, golf, and we found biking directly from Withy Gate into the countryside and foothills to be a real treat. We would highly recommend this property for anyone looking for this type of vacation.

Perfect Place in the Bitterroot Valley

This was my second summer at Withy Gate. Had a six month stay May - October. Fully equipped, comfortable, in a quiet neighborhood. There is a patio and large yard. Easy walk to groceries, good dining spots, and main street shops. The accommodations are very clean and bright. Kris is a pleasure to work with. Very prompt with correspondence and very attentive to anything I needed. Had a wonderful summer and look forward to returning.

Great Little Cottage

Had a very nice 7 day stay. The cottage was very clean and comfortable, fresh flowers arranged on the tables, books and resources available , great little kitchen and big bathroom with many thoughtful touches (homemade soap was wonderful!) . The cottage has everything you need and more, plus very convenient to town. We highly recommend it. Thanks Kris.

Great stay in a charming house

I stayed for almost a month in that charming lodging. I was staying at Whity Gate for business reasons but I almost felt I was on vacation. The apartment is very cosy but a little bit small for two people I guess. However, as I was alone I felt very comfortable. It was a thousand time more fun (and cheap) to stay there rather than staying at the hotel. As the apartment has a fully equipped kitchen, I was able to cook whenever I wanted. Feeling for restaurant instead? Several good restaurants were from walking distance to Whity Gate. Grocery store was accessible by foot as well. The owner was really nice and friendly should I need anything. However I didn't call her very often during my stay because everything was readily available, including shampoo and dishwasher detergent :) The area is gorgeous with mountains everywhere, a lot of hiking trails, abundant flora and fauna! If you choose to stay at Whity Gate, get ready for great vacations!

A great place to stay in Montana's Bitterroot Valley

My wife and I vacation in the mountains of North America every summer and have done so for over 20 years. We've stayed in virtually every type of accommodation available, from tents and trailers to luxury homes and condos, so we have a realistic appreciation of quality and value based on huge experience. This fabulous little unit lives up to the description and is perfect for a couple.We were very comfortable there and would rank it as one of the best places we've stayed in over the years in terms of comfort, facilities and value for money. It has a great little kitchen, good (shared) washer/drier facilities and a homely location in a quiet, residential part of town. The owner was extremely helpful, friendly and responsive to all requests and queries from the start and made sure we felt at home. The photographs posted on the VRBO site give you an accurate reflection of the ambience of the cottage and the amenities available. Everything was clean, well-maintained and in perfect working order, plus some nice personal touches. For us, Hamilton was a great place, not too big yet big enough to have all the facilities required on a self-catering vacation.There are lots of reasonable eating places within walking distance of the cottage, good grocery store facilities, an excellent book store and a good information centre staffed by really helpful people. From the middle of town you only have to drive a short distance to gain access to hiking trails that will give you a memorable experience of the Bitterroot Mountains. Our stay in July was rewarded with fabulous mountain wild flower displays, glorious scenery and occasional views of bald eagles over the Bitterroot River. We would recommend this cottage to anyone looking for lodging in this part of the USA. It would definitely be our first choice in this area in the future

Delightful cottage...

When we arrived at Withy Gate Cottage we were greeted by Kris, she rode her bike to the cottage to give us the 'tour'. What a wonderfully tranquil haven. We were visiting family and had our own spot to unwind at and we enjoyed quiet moments together on the patio. Our family and friends could not believe we found this rental in Hamilton...they have never used VRBO, but they are now believers. Kris, we appreciate every special amenity you provided. Your personal decorating touches make the cottage seem like we were staying at a friend's home. The linens, handmade soaps were wonderful. And knowing you were just a call away gave us peace of mind. Thank you.

I was born and raised in Seattle and first visited the Bitterroot Valley in 1979 when a girlfriend invited me to go home with her for the County Fair. I fell in love with this landscape and knew I would one day live here. After many more visits, I moved to Hamilton in 1999. Withy Gate was my first home and I loved being able to walk out in the morning and see the mountains or walk to the river or for a cup of coffee with friends. I now live about a mile away in Grantsdale where I am restoring a 1890-1930's farmhouse and outbuildings. I enjoy sharing Withy Gate and the Bitterroot with my guests and look forward to helping connect you to the best of the Bitterroot.

Withy Gate was my first home in Hamilton and when I purchased a slightly larger place I found I just could not part with it and so decided to convert my lovely duplex into a vacation rental so that others could enjoy it, too.
