Grandma's House in the Woods, one mile from Custer

My folks' old place just south of Custer, an old converted pole barn set on five wooded acres with lots of parking and peace and quiet. Easy access, garage parking, a big front porch for sitting, sipping, and relaxing and for watching the deer and turkeys and cottontails. Sleeps up to 8, dog friendly. Pet sitting may be available this season. Owner on premises this season for improvements, but not in your way! High speed fiber optic internet and DirectTV, room AC units, full kitchen, commercial W/D, handicap accessible including main bathroom and master bedroom. Minutes to Custer State Park, Crazy Horse, Mt. Rushmore, blocks from Mickelson Trail.
One mile to restaurants, shopping and gifts, pharmacy, grocery store, service stations. Trail rides, fishing, boating, hiking, helicopter rides, and adventure vehicle rentals and bicycles close by. Grandma's House feels rural, but is located central to most Black Hills attractions and parks.

Fantastic location. Great location for sightseeing and privacy. We enjoyed walking the dogs in the wooded area. Very comfortable and the hostess, Vicky, was great. She went above and beyond. Thank you for having us and sharing your Mother’s home with us.

This is our second time staying at Grandma’s. It’s a great location just a short distance from town. All the amenities are as advertised and Vicki is a very responsive host. We can’t wait to go back!

What a great house in the woods! The rental was clean, well stocked with everything we needed for a week, quiet, secluded. We enjoyed our stay immensely! Our host communicated promptly and pleasantly. The owner stopped with a loaf of fresh baked sourdough bread! Loved everything about our stay!

We had a great time staying at Grandma's Cabin. It is centrally located to so many beautiful sites in Custer, SD. It was clean, and had everything we needed. Vicki, the host, was so sweet and attentive. My only complaint was that we didn't know the second bathroom was in the garage.

We arrived late no lights on. It was VERY hot. Bedrooms have noisy floor unit AC that is vented out window. Light comes in early since blinds cant close completely. I barely slept due to noisy AC. Bathroom has fabric blinds that don’t close entirely and a trailer is parked with a window right across from it that can see in. Owner is living in trailer. I would not have booked knowing owner is living inches away. Owner stated they don’t look out window on that side of trailer. I checked the ad and it says on site this season for renovations. I do recall seeing this when I booked last FALL a year later owner is still on site looking further back for reviews owner has been on site for years. This should’ve been in listing - “this season” is false. No photos of trailer that is right next to the porch behind bbq. Older videos of this home look much nicer. Either way I informed them we would be using smaller shower in garage. They offered to call someone to put up plywood on window. If they are onsite for renovations I would think they could do this. It was surface clean but couch hasn’t been vacuumed in quite awhile, stove drawer full of expired cookies. The carpet is pretty nasty my socks were filthy walking on it. Owner is responsive but having them onsite was uncomfortable. No fence for dogs. Owner has a dog run area for their dog. We had friends over bbq is in front of their trailer within earshot. Would not have stayed here had I known owners are on site.

Everything was great the host the owner the only thing that needs attention is all the living room furniture needs replacing it looks nice until you set on it and its all broken down,l finally brought in a rocking chair from the porch to watch tv.like l said everything else was great

Great Location

Enjoyed our stay at this great location. Easy access to Custer State Park, Crazy Horse and Mt Rushmore. Loved the town of Custer. Would have liked the 2nd bath to be in house vs garage but it was a very nice bathroom. Well stocked kitchen. Nice parking area. Would stay here again.

Great stay in the Hills that feels like home

This is a very cute house that is close to everything, but still gives you the feeling of being out of the hustle and bustle. Great porch with chairs and rocking chairs for families to sit out and talk and laugh. Very clean house with all the amenities you'd need plus the small things that you may habe forgotten to pack, to use. We had 4 adults and 3 kids stay and the house was plenty big for us. The grounds were perfect to play around and walk on some small trails. The communication was always very quick and efficient from the initial booking up until the day of check out, offering us a safe drive home. Definitely a great place to book and can tell the family loves their property and keeps it pristine.

Best vrbo we ever stayed at

Hours, property, hosts, and location all exceptional! 5 secluded acres, big front porch, 3br2ba, high quality accessories, close to town, quiet, peaceful. Immaculate, comfortable, felt like home and we didnt want to leave. Absolutely incredible place and the owner was like a sister to me. We strongly recommend this place to others and intend to return. The owner recommended Black Hills Burger and Pizza and we got there at 11 when they open and it was full by 11;30am.

Anniversary weekend

This was a wonderful peaceful and well located for relaxation or adventure. Custer was just down the road but this place felt like it was our own oasis. Deer turkey and rabbits running through the yard. Peaceful evening where you can see the stars sitting on the covered front porch in the rocking chairs. Thank you for a wonderful weekend.

Fun at Grandma's house

Very nice home. Extreme amount of amenities, just like home. Beautiful location away from traffic and the city. Enjoyable 8 days.
