La "Chalata" es una gran higuera que extiende su dosel sobre la cubierta elevada de esta encantadora villa en Punta El Custodio. La espaciosa terraza ofrece vistas al océano, una parrilla de gas y espacio para entretenerse mientras disfruta de la suave brisa marina. Detrás de la terraza hay una gran sala cubierta de palapa con una cocina completa, comedor interior y una sala de estar. Un sofá cama y un baño completo se proporcionan para invitados adicionales.

La planta baja con aire acondicionado incluye 2 amplios dormitorios con baños en suite, así como una sala de estar cómodamente amueblada con un sofá cama, perfecta para acomodar a huéspedes o niños desbordados. Ideal para alejarse de las fiestas de arriba, para leer un poco o ver un DVD.

La villa está a unos pasos de la hermosa piscina comunitaria al borde del acantilado frente al mar. Las escaleras conducen a una pequeña playa en la parte inferior. Un baño corto o un vadeo lo lleva a un increíble santuario de anidación de tortugas marinas y playa de 12 millas de largo sin nadar. ¡Un paraíso para los amantes del surf y la naturaleza!

Beautiful location but...

Casa Chalata needs some updating... bedroom furnishings are basic and old, handle missing from dresser, no instructions for TV, no DVD's, music system rusty . The kitchen area has every appliance and tool you would ever need including 2 fridges but the rest of the living area is sort of sparse with 2 fairly comfortable chairs and a couch but only overhead lighting not conducive to reading. It would not take much for the owner to make this home more comfortable for his guests.The location is absolutely beautiful lovely, property staff very good... they were able to find a BBQ for us as the one included in the listing apparently hadn't worked for years Ellie, the maid was very attentive. The community pool is great as are the lounge chairs etc, around it .The grounds are stunning as are the views. Getting to Tortuga beach can be a little challenging for seniors as the path involves quite a few stairs ( with railings) but then one needs to cross an estuary which can be a little tricky depending on the tide. However, once across you can walk for miles on an empty, pristine, sandy beach.

Absolutely amazing!

We had an awesome stay! For our family, it had everything we needed. The view is beautiful, it’s set in a quiet community, easy beach access (3 minute walk), safe, sparkling clean, and stunning grounds. Our kids spent most days surfing and playing in the waves. We also released baby turtles from a wildlife sanctuary nearby. Overall, it was a fabulous vacation and we’d love to return.

Great house in a wonderful place

The house was very comfortable and had everything we needed. It is near a wonderful fishing village on one side and a beautiful beach on the other.

Beautiful, remote and tranquil

This place is a hidden gem. We were very surprised by how long it took us to get to the location. Make sure to get good directions before you leave Puerto Vallarta as the cell reception is spotty. The property is very well-maintained and the cleaning crew are fantastic. The views and the wildlife are lovely. The best decision we made was to hire her lovely cook Sonia to prepare meals for us while we were there. They meals were fresh, tasty and nutritious. The location is so remote that grocery stores are few. Thank you so much to Sonia for making our stay so nice and becoming a nice friend to us. Good luck with your puppies. ❤️❤️❤️ The only tough parts were the amount of mosquitoes and the intermittent power outages which left us without air conditioning on some evenings. Thank you for a nice stay.

Radical Jungle Hideout

A/C and luxury in the middle of a jungle peninsula. We loved the stay. The surf was fun for the kids, weather was amazing, staff was super nice, and the food was awesome. We had a blast!

Unexpectedly Awesome!

I agree with all of the other reviews on this site. Casa Charlata was perfect for us. We were traveling with another adult couple and the layout of the house was great. If you wanted to be together, the entire upstairs--indoor / outdoor kitchen and dining was a perfect place to enjoy company. If you wanted solitude, head downstairs to the cool & quiet bedrooms. The gate house staff were exceptionally helpful and had everything we needed. We purchased the meal plan and couldn't have been happier. I would definitely recommend it. The food is fresh, really well prepared and abundant. We didn't want for anything. From a size perspective, Charlata was great for 4 adults. It could have accommodated 2 small children, but I wouldn't do more than that. There are other properties within the community that might be better suited for large families or groups. If you're traveling with a big group, I would definitely recommend renting a few of the properties. They are all close to one another and the community pool and nearby beach are a great place to meet up. The community is pretty secluded--as mentioned by other reviewers--but there are two great towns within a 30 minute drive in opposite directions. Zacualpan, mentioned by another reviewer has everything you need and San Blas is even bigger. Neither is over-run by tourists, so you get an authentic Mexican experience. All of the nearby beaches are great--not too crowded, but have everything you want for a beach outing. The house and grounds were meticulously cared for. The showers were hot and strong. The food was outstanding. The community pool was great. I can't recommend this place enough if you are looking to enjoy a relaxing vacation in Mexico that is luxurious except for the cost. Go!!

Casa Chalata was absolutely excellent. Combined with the food/service package it was the best vacation spot my friends and I have been to. The landscaping in the enclave is beautiful ! The Playa Tortugas just steps away was like having your own deserted tropical beach ! Totally relaxing. The house was really comfy especially the upstairs kitchen/patio . The food service was more than we expected . Plenty of everything and with a nicely varied menu. Cynthia our chef was simply wonderful and sweet. Ismael the concierge was always available to provide help with everything from tours to a selection of wines. Thanks to everyone on staff and also to jeffery the owner for all his tips on the area. Hope to go back soon. We're telling all our friends to check it out and would certainly recommend this Casa to all. Terry,Dede, Mark and Rosalie

Fantastic property, serene and comfortable!

We LOVED our stay at Chalata in Platanitos! The house is in a lovely gated community on a cliffside overlooking the ocean. It felt very, very safe. The house is well-appointed and well-designed, bedrooms downstairs stay cool and dark and the upstairs terrace and kitchen area are roomy, sunny and bright. The staff is considerate and professional, and the grounds and pool are very lovely. Property was clean and well-maintained. A few notes: 1. The meal plan is an excellent value, we always had enough to eat and drink and snack - and we didn't have to spend any time shopping or cooking. Zintia made us gorgeous local food - including ceviche using fish we caught on an excursion arranged by Ismael (the caretaker/property manager). The staff even packed us a picnic for our beach excursion days. 2. The house is not near nightlife: if you need that, this is the wrong place for you (we did have some wonderful parties with our small group at the house - it is an excellent gathering space with the wonderful terrace!). 3. Definitely bring or rent a car when you come here, unless you are seeking solely solitude and do not intend to travel much. Not much within walking distance. Reco: get a quote on car insurance ahead of time or find out if it's covered by your personal insurance co. or credit card. Rental car insurance is expensive in Mexico. 4. The house is excellently situated over the ocean, very easy walk to the small beach in Platanitos where there are small stores and a few restaurants. We also did wonderful beach day trips to Sayulita, Playa los Cocos and Playa las Tortugas. You can body-surf, swim and sun within walking distance of the property. 5. The way the house is built is great for couples vacationing together or families with children. Several families could rent adjoining villas and have a wonderful experience in this community, sharing the pool. 6. The pool is really lovely and was never crowded, even during Christmas week. Highly recommended, excellent vacation property!

It's like fantasy Island

Everything from the gate of entry to the compound was impressive. The people that work to maintain the compound and help the visitors are also great. The house is just steps away from the ocean. Walk down a 1 minute path and you are at the top of a rustic well designed staircase to the beach. The house layout was good for relaxing while others are in the detached kitchen and patio if they wanted to be more lively. If you want to go fishing by boat or horseback riding on the beach, just contact the front office and they can set all that up for you. The boat people for fishing were on time and really nice, and the horse back riding group the same. I really relaxed and had a great trip overall. Thanks again!

The Perfect Vacation

The pictures of this beautiful place, while lovely, don't begin to show how gorgeous this home and the property surrounding it really are. I was blown away by how secluded and private the compound was, and by how excellent we were treated while we were visiting. The people who work on the grounds are so friendly, and the massive amounts of food they cooked for us was excellent! I received two wonderful hour-long massages during my week long stay, both from Zinthia, and they were amazing. There are plenty of fun activities to do off the grounds too, like fishing and horseback riding, but it was just as nice soaking up sun by the beautiful pool that overlooks the ocean! Even though we were tucked away, there were amenities very close by if needed; Zacualpan was the nearest little town, and we went in to dine out, pick up groceries, and grab some delicious ice cream! Oh, and there was a great little market right up the street for any little things you want to pick up (and their chicken tortas were awesome!). There really is no need to even leave the grounds if you don't want to; everything you need can be provided just by asking the friendly staff at the gatehouse. You don't have to clean on this vacation; the staff was always there to clean up before you could even get to it! There was wi-fi service available at the gatehouse as well, so if you need to check email, it's no problem. The house and grounds are extremely well taken care of; all of the plants surrounding the homes are so beautiful, you really feel like you are in a little paradise. I highly recommend this vacation home; it was the best, most relaxing vacation I have ever taken! PS: take the boat ride and do some fishing and whale watching! It was an awesome experience!
