Mountain Oaks Retreat is located it a quiet neighborhood in Norther Dunsmuir. Recently remodeled, and with updated appliances you will be able to relax in style and comfort. Enjoy comfortable beds and relaxing furniture to read a book or watch a favorite program on one of the several tvs. Hot Tub on the deck for relaxing!!! A short walk to Yaks restaurant, Tauhindauli Park or the Dunsmuir botanical gardens is an easy option. Hedge Creed Falls and Mossbrea Falls as well as historic down town Dunsmuir and the Sacramento River are just a few of the local attraction in the area. Downtown has a number of restaurants and the brewery as well as shops and galleries. Strong internet for work or use this home as a home base to while you explore the PCT (Pacific Crest Trail), Castle Crags State park, or the Mount Shasta Ski Park. Whether its peace & quiet or mountain adventures your sure to find it at Mountain Oaks Retreat. Hot tub Included.

Beautiful Home - Perfect for a Big Family

We rented this house to stay for our wedding and its beautiful. Modern, clean, a nice backyard with a hottub, fire pit and open space. Well stocked. Good location to be close to Shasta. The side room with the futon was a great bonus. Was a great stay!

Cozy home not far from Mt. Shasta

We enjoyed our stay as a family of 5. The house was very cozy and we enjoyed the pellet stove, the beautiful kitchen, the grill and the nice hot tub. We had everything we needed and didn’t need to contact management for anything. The house had cobwebs on light fixtures and near the base of furniture, but other than that it was pretty clean. Very nice house for a ski getaway!

Another great stay!

We stayed at the Mountain Oaks Lodge last year as well so we knew the property. It works out so well for us. Beds are comfy, kitchen has all we need for meal prep and the laundry room with pantry is so handy. Our extended family that was staying at a motel in town visited and there was room for all. Thank you for the bedroom coolers! They helped! Thank you for another nice stay.

Great service

The place was great! Very clean, lots of space, and well furnished. Our stay was during an abnormally hot stretch (100+ degrees) and the single AC unit struggled to keep the place cool but each room had its own cooling humidifiers and that helped. Also the mgmnt company was very kind and helpful. I screwed up and neglected to make the final pmt. When we arrived on our first night I had to call at 11pm. The gentleman i spoke with was very nice and quickly accommodated my goof up. We were in the place in under a minute. Thank you!

Not bad but not excellent

Three issues we had that made our experience less than ideal at this home are that the wood pellet stove was broken so we relied on space heaters, we never found any sports channels on the TV’s and management didn’t reply to my inquiry about it, and the trash was not taken out by the cleaners before we came so we took it out and then an animal came and made a big mess of it all outside the house which we cleaned up. Also, the backyard was not tended to so it wasn’t a welcoming area to spend time. But the beds were comfortable and the home is nicely updated.

Get away

Great place. Definitely felt the listing was deceiving. Pictures showed a hot tub and listing came up with "hot tub" filter applied. There is indeed a hot tub there with NO water in it. Very disappointing.

Beautiful spot in Dunsmuir

We really enjoyed our time in Dunsmuir at this cottage. It was spacious, clean, well maintained and well equipped with everything we needed for our stay. It was easy enough to check in and check out, and the location was great in terms of distance from the sledding hills and to get to the lava bed national monument. The only disappointment was that the hot tub was non-functional - this was not clear from the vrbo post, and we were especially looking forward to this feature, and had looked for places that had a hot tub in our search. In future, I would advise the owner to be clear about this - when we reached out to find out if this was something they could set up for us, we had no response. Other than this small blip, we liked the property and would stay there again.

Our Son’s Wedding

We came up for our son’s wedding and enjoyed our stay immensely. The house has been totally remodeled inside not missing a detail. We will definitely stay there again. Thanks for your hospitality.
