Id stay again

The house was good sized, nice fenced in back yard. It is at the end of a dirt/rock road, which was not stated in the description, but over all it was clean and the hostess always responded promptly.

Needs a better stocked kitchen, ie, mixing pot holders dish towels, measuring cups and spoons. replace counter tops, the paint is flaking off

Comfy beds and great patio

We enjoyed our stay in the House of Shells. The beds were very comfortable and the patio was great! Plenty of room for five adults. We were also able to walk into town which was nice. Unfortunately the firepit was out of commission during our stay. Otherwise, the listing is accurate. The host was very responsive!

Mixed reviews

Good reviews on webpage and was excited about layout for 6 people. Overall clean. One bedroom had no working outlets, large hole in backyard very dangerous. Furnace needs maintenance. Didn’t use but washer and dryer were good. Beds were comfortable . No minimum daysnights would have love to had light blanket.

Overall, good stay with lots of beds/bedrooms

This was a decent (7/10) stay for us (family of 6, with 4 kids). It had plenty of beds and there weren't any frills but it did have what we needed. The owner was really easy to communicate with, allowed us early check in and move our date. The biggest drawback though is that it had a few roaches (both dead and alive) in the bathroom and kitchen. The neighborhood and location was fine - I never felt unsafe or anything. It anything, I imagine the neighbors would have let us join their bonfire

Overall the home is very warm and welcoming. It sits at the end of a DIRT street, and you may have to avoid some livestock on the way in. But aside, the neighborhood, the house is extremely clean. and the beds are super comfy. The only real complaint I would have is that the water heater needs to be turned down, nothing like accidently burning yourself trying to wash your hands.

Scalloping Base Camp

Close to Crystal River, and all of the scalloping spots. The neighborhood was definitely downscale, but the accommodations were clean. The host is extremely friendly and efficient.

Great place to stay

Nice size house with nice floor plan for our group. Nice big kitchen for all of us. The Florida room in the back was great for sitting out and playing cards. We tried to have a fire in the firepit but the wood we bought wouldn’t light so our dreams of s’mores went out the window but otherwise, it was a wonderful stay. Nice restaurants close by and a Publix was just a minute away, highly recommend as a great and reasonable location if you are going to see the manatee.

Great stay for your manatee trip

Plenty of space for our group. Great, fast communication with owner, just a few minutes for 3 sisters springs. Good value!

Relaxing

Lots of room for a family getaway. The yard and 4-season room was perfect for chilling out and game playing-large! So close to Publix and a good Mexican restaurant. If you’re visiting Crystal River to go exploring and watching Manatees this is the place. Not overpriced, worth the money!

we were flooded outof our house in crystal river and found shell house for a stay till our home is finished in november we are stayin ghere till halloween then going home this is a perfrct home away from home

House of Shells

The house is on a dead end dirt street the very last house. I was a little concerned about the neighbors because of the condition of their rental houses but they are all quiet and no issues. I loved the fenced in yard because we brought our small dog. She travels with us. The yard needed to be mowed though. We were there for a week and it seemed nice to be able to cook our meals instead of eating out if we stayed in a hotel which are hard to find pet friendly with green space.

Plenty of room to relax

Cute house with plenty of room to spread out. Large kitchen, large lining room and four large bedrooms. Kitchen was well stocked. Spacious Florida room was our favorite .Quick response from the manager when we had a question. Very quiet street. We enjoyed our stay.
