As part of our 68 acre homestead, The Gift Bungalow has been our labor of love for the past 3 years. Offering guests the feeling of a rustic, country get-a-way while being close to many amenities and activities. Just 2.5 miles from the village of Clinton, NY and less than a 10 minute drive to Hamilton College, our historic 1921 guest house is a step back in time with all the comforts of home. Beautifully decorated and featuring hard-wood floors, period furniture, new state-of-the-art appliances, cascading natural light in every room and flourishing landscaping-this charming homestead is a dream come true for those struck with wanderlust. Curl up with a hot coffee on the front porch and watch the world awaken around you...

The host is awesome. Everything you could possibly need was supplied. The cottage is cozy with a great updated kitchen and bathroom. This was our second stay and will definitely return. Highly recommend!!

This was our second stay at The Gift bungalow, and this second stay was just as excellent as our first. House is clean and very well stocked, and the hosts are amazing! They responded to every question we had within minutes, and they even stocked the kitchen with some OJ, eggs, and even a few treats.Thank you, Mary & Kevin, for making us feel so welcome!

Cozy cabin with great proximity to Clinton / Hamilton College and anything you might need in New Hartford. We visited for an extended stay. The bungalow sits on a lovely large lot with a nice yard and porch to enjoy in good weather. Updated kitchen and bathroom have everything you need, and bedrooms, while small, are very comfortable. Our hosts were very gracious, responsive and flexible, and the extra welcoming touches upon our arrival added to a positive experience.

I love this home — cozy, comfortable, super clean, well-stocked, easy access to Clinton, Hamilton College and the surrounding area, yet quiet, peaceful and surrounded by nature. The bungalow is set back off a busy road, buffered by trees and rolling lawn — views out each window are beautiful and soul-renewing. Hosts could not be more responsible and responsive, super respectful of privacy yet instantly accessible when needed. I spent the summer here, could not have been more at home.

Magical

I can’t say enough about how special this place is. It is a stunning property all the way around, the hosts are delightful, (but the houses are separated by woods and you can avoid seeing anyone if you choose to), the cottage is appointed with so much care that we felt they had been waiting all these years just for us to arrive! The land is endlessly peaceful and stunningly gorgeous—who doesn’t love a red barn with a chicken coop?! We’re actually hoping to be back to Clinton NY some day just to spend more time at the cottage—it’s not just a place to stay, but a destination retreat. Just can’t say enough about how happy we were to find it.

Wonderful Respite

The Gift was a true gift for our college touring, hotel weary family including our dog who had so much pent up energy that she literally ran in circles upon arrival.As stated in all other reviews, Mary and Kevin are exceptionally attentive, thoughtful, and communicative hosts. They truly have thought of everything necessary to make your stay comfortable, including an incredible coffee/tea setup, breakfast items and snacks, and a basket of toiletries. They even had a dog bed and toy set up for our girl and had filled a dog bowl with ice water.The bungalow is thoughtfully.and beautifully decorated and the kitchen is well stocked with anything that you will need for cooking and brand new appliances. It does not feel like a rental but more like home.The shower is unbelievable and the heated bathroom floors have motivated us to consider putting them in our own house!There is a beautiful trail that we were able to walk the dog on. If ever in the area again, we will definitely be back!

We love staying at the gift bungalow

Everything is thoughtfully considered and provided by the hosts, making the stay very welcoming and comfortable. We love the location and setting for this beautifully restored bungalow. It’s cozy, spotless and very well organized inside. We plan to return again whenever we vist the area.

Second time is a charm!

This is my second time staying at the Bungalow and, as before, it is a treat. Very thoughtful touches everywhere, immaculate space, fully equipped kitchen (enough to prep Thanksgiving dishes!), quiet and comfortable. The Bungalow is my go-to place for stays in Clinton, Mary is responsive and super helpful.

Birthday Weekend

Our stay was amazing!!!! We can't say enough about the well kept cottage and property! Truly a restful place. We were welcomed with warmth and thoughtfulness which is much needed in this crazy busy world. The host were very accommodating and genuinely care about their visitors. The perfect getaway

The gift was just perfect! The Inside was very well kept, clean and we felt so welcome, it had everything you could need. The location was perfect close to shops but also nice and quiet. We loved seeing the chickens everyday and the deer as well. Would love to come back and highly recommend staying here.

Awesome Visit

We had a wonderful weekend stay at The Gift in Clinton. We were up visiting our daughter in college nearby and thoroughly enjoyed our downtime in Mary and Kevin’s bungalow. The property is set back from the road and has a lovely front porch and a back yard with an expansive view. Fresh eggs from “The Girls” made for a delicious omelette following an excellent nights sleep in extremely comfortable beds. Mary is super friendly and gave us chicken scratch so we could feed the birds- a real treat for us city folks! Would love to come back. Thank you Mary and Kevin!

Charming, super comfortable, gorgeous setting

Mary and Kevin have created a cozy, comfortable, thoughtfully decorated retreat — I loved my stay. Everything a traveller might need — and more — has been provided, including coffee and breakfast options befitting a high-end country Inn and helpful resources about the area. The bungalow is over 100 years old but the newly renovated kitchen and bath are state of the art — such a great combination of history and modernity!

Great Stay at the Gift

My family had a wonderful weekend stay at the Gift Bungalow. The house had everything we needed and more. Location was great, updates are lovely, and the hospitality was unmatched. Arriving late in the evening, we especially appreciated the snacks and breakfast items waiting for us. So nice not to have to run out to the store right away. And our daughter, a prospective Hamilton student, enjoyed seeing the Hamilton garden flag and encouraging notes left by Mary. We hope she chooses Hamilton so we have excuses to visit again!

One of the best VRBO's!

Not only was the property lovely, but the extras from the host were very thoughtful and appreciated! We didn't get a chance to try the fresh eggs from the beautiful chickens, but we will definitely be back! I have to admit, being a city dweller, I was a little worried about the chickens, but they were great! It was so nice when they came to say hello!

Holiday Weekend Getaway

We enjoyed this lovely and comfortable and quiet home. The kitchen was very well stockedand the bedrooms were adorable 😍! The wildlife and free range chickens are a bonus.

We both have lived in the area for more than 12 years and have always loved the village: there's a beautiful historical park in the center of town surrounded by a wide variety of shops-many have been operating for many years. One of our favorite places to visit in the fall is Clinton Cider Mill: the donuts are amazing (made daily throughout the day) We live in the ranch next door with our two fur babies. 4 of our 5 children live locally along with one grandchild so we are blessed to be able to spend time with them!
We were intrigued to find out that the property belonged to a family for close to 200 years-the Bungalow is 102 years old and there other home on the property is over 55 years old. During the early 1900's, a local Trolley ran for over 30 years about 100 ft in front of the Bungalow. The line ran between Clinton, New Hartford and Utica.
There's also an old barn with a fairy large meadow that we garden on each Summer-it's been a true learning curve but so worth it: there's nothing like picking your own veggies and flowers! The remainder of the property is wooded. There are several old trails that were here when we purchased the property back in 2019 --we are hopeful to make them available for guests to enjoy: its beautiful up there!
During our first tour of the property, we fell in love with Bungalow-we knew immediately that it would be a perfect guest house: the charm and character were the shinning stars despite needing a total rehab.
