As part of our 68 acre homestead, The Gift Bungalow has been our labor of love for the past 3 years. Offering guests the feeling of a rustic, country get-a-way while being close to many amenities and activities. Just 2.5 miles from the village of Clinton, NY and less than a 10 minute drive to Hamilton College, our historic 1921 guest house is a step back in time with all the comforts of home. Beautifully decorated and featuring hard-wood floors, period furniture, new state-of-the-art appliances, cascading natural light in every room and flourishing landscaping-this charming homestead is a dream come true for those struck with wanderlust. Curl up with a hot coffee on the front porch and watch the world awaken around you...

We had a wonderful stay for our daughter's graduation from Hamilton. Mary left a handwritten note and fresh flowers, wishing us a great weekend. She also left fresh eggs and other breakfast items in the refrigerator. Mary checked in during our stay to be sure everything was going smoothly. The home was perfect for three of us, and we loved our stay.

I really enjoyed this stay. The host was very welcoming and checking in to see if all was going well. Lots of very nice warm touches like notes. I also appreciated how well appointed it was and had everything I could have needed. I will stay here again next time I am in the area and provide my strongest recommendation.

A wonderful experience. Great location close to the village, clean, modern bathroom/kitchen, yet so much charm of an older home. The little touches from Mary and Kevin were appreciated ( fresh eggs from the girls, notes welcoming us). Comfortable beds and plenty of linens. Nice to sit on the porch and relax. Wish I would have found sooner!

This was our second stay. Location cannot be beat for visiting Clinton, but it’s the extra touches that make it really special. Loved coming “home” to the living room with lovely holiday decorations. And having breakfast items provided is a huge help after a long trip.

What a beautiful little space. Fully equipped with Everything you could ever want or need in this fun restored bungalow. Yes I had to look up “bungalow” - I knew what they looked like but I didn’t really understand what they are - it’s a small one story open concept home with an enclosed front porch. Built for one story efficiency- which is Exactly what the Gift is all about. We sat on said porch for a beautiful afternoon and enjoyed some nice CNY country living. Refreshing to see real wood furniture and high quality finish work throughout. This is what a home rental should be! Don’t tell anyone. We want to come back…

Perfect Autumn weekend spot

This was our second stay at The Gift bungalow, and this second stay was just as excellent as our first. House is clean and very well stocked, and the hosts are amazing! Cozy cabin with great proximity to Clinton / Hamilton College and anything you might need in New Hartford. We visited for an extended stay. The bungalow sits on a lovely large lot with a nice yard and porch to enjoy in good weather. Updated kitchen and bathroom have everything you need, and bedrooms, while small, are very comfortable. Our hosts were very gracious, responsive and flexible, and the extra welcoming touches upon our arrival added to a positive experience.

Holiday Weekend Getaway

We enjoyed this lovely and comfortable and quiet home. The kitchen was very well stockedand the bedrooms were adorable 😍! The wildlife and free range chickens are a bonus.

Our stay was wonderful. We came for Christmas to see family. Upon arrival we were thrilled to see a beautiful Christmas Tree in the living room!! The accommodations were just like described….cozy and very comfortable. The kitchen had EVERYTHING you could possibly need, which was important to us. We cooked a Christmas dinner for our son and grandkids, and a few days later another family meal for our daughter’s family. Kevin did an amazing job keeping the driveway plowed with record breaking snow during our stay. We look forward to coming back again, during the warm weather and again next Christmas!

We love staying at the gift bungalow

Everything is thoughtfully considered and provided by the hosts, making the stay very welcoming and comfortable. We love the location and setting for this beautifully restored bungalow. It’s cozy, spotless and very well organized inside. We plan to return again whenever we vist the area.

We both have lived in the area for more than 12 years and have always loved the village: there's a beautiful historical park in the center of town surrounded by a wide variety of shops-many have been operating for many years. One of our favorite places to visit in the fall is Clinton Cider Mill: the donuts are amazing (made daily throughout the day) We live in the ranch next door with our two fur babies. 4 of our 5 children live locally along with one grandchild so we are blessed to be able to spend time with them!
We were intrigued to find out that the property belonged to a family for close to 200 years-the Bungalow is 105 years old and the other home on the property is over 55 years old. During the early 1900's, a local Trolley ran for over 30 years about 100 ft in front of the Bungalow. The line ran between Clinton, New Hartford and Utica.
There's also an old barn with a fairy large meadow that we garden on each Summer-it's been a true learning curve but so worth it: there's nothing like picking your own veggies and flowers! The remainder of the property is wooded. There are several old trails that were here when we purchased the property back in 2019 --we are hopeful to make them available for guests to enjoy: its beautiful up there!
During our first tour of the property, we fell in love with Bungalow-we knew immediately that it would be a perfect guest house: the charm and character were the shinning stars despite needing a total rehab.
