A peaceful retreat
We wanted a vacation away from the fireworks in our town that always stress out our dog over the 4th of July holiday, and this cute A-frame house suited our purposes exactly. Our dog enjoyed the enclosed yard that allowed her to roam around freely or hang with us on the decks. The hot tub was clean and a nice perk. The kitchen has new appliances and all the necessary equipment. The bathroom and bedrooms are simple but spacious and comfortable. One thing to note is that if someone in your group frequents the restroom at night, it is located on the first floor and the bedrooms are upstairs. The stairs are a bit narrow, but there is a handrail and an overhead light that you can switch on to go up/down safely. This cabin is nestled in the woods and very quiet and peaceful, while being close enough to walk into the little town of Gualala, which has markets and good restaurants. They were cooking/selling BBQ ribs, tri-tip, roasted corn, chowder, and other side dishes out in front of the supermarket which we bought for our 4th of July dinner and it was delicious! In town you can catch some stunning views of the ocean from the cliffs and a short drive away there are beautiful beaches that allow dogs and also the river. While we heard from the locals that there was a firework show in nearby Point Arena, we did not hear so much as one pop in Gualala the whole time we were there, which was exactly what we and our doggy were hoping for :-)
