1920s masterfully decorated period Victorian style home, 5 bedroom, sits on 1.5 acres with a (vintage) pool, breezy porches & outdoor areas. If your an antique'r or an avid junk collector, this fun, fashionable Texas Home has , 3.5 baths, full kitchen, stocked w/ coffee & southern sweet tea. Perfect location for Antique’rs or weekenders, 5 min to LaGrange 15 min SMITHVILLE, 30 min BASTROP, 30 min Round Top *(Junk Gypsies) & more! This is not the party pad, but the relaxation place, come unwind! The space Comfortably Victorian! You don’t feel like your in a museum, you know these antiques are to enjoy and sit on! Each piece was handpicked for this house, now you can enjoy them too! Each room has antiques and decor to purchase, if you like it you can buy it!
It’s an “antique’rs” paradise! The house is in what I would call the Antique intersection, with fun small towns in every direction with great shops!
Perfect ladies get-away; Friends Trip; Antique Junkers weekend, Church Bible Study retreat or a romantic "Somewhere in time" escape; retreat from the BIG City life!
Each room a treasure to regale and admire, the house, it’s history and the family that helped build Plum Texas are in the walls of this fine Texas home! It was the town & the Morgan Family history that made me want to restore this beauty. Fully restored and now open for the public to enjoy her story, her history, her beauty. Our plan is to help usher her into the next 100 Years!
Come stay a spell and have a glass of tea on the porch, ohh if these walls could talk!
NO TV's - for a reason!
Ps: did we mention everything in the house is for sale, meaning all the antiques are purchasable. This can make the stay even better, “a stay & shop”….. Only very few items like the grandfather clocks NFS
P.s.s: not suitable for small children due to high level of antique breakables, and the outdoor pool, and an orig 1800s cabin at back of property. Too many things to entice a child ….
P.s.s.s. The pool has a hot tub , but it’s a COLD TUB, it’s not heated, heater will not work, so we ask that you NOT adjust or mess with pool equipment, other than the instruction we have by the door to turn the Polaris (a pool vacuum off or on while swimming)
P.s.s.s.s. This home has outdoor only, video surveillance at each door and driveway for your protection and the homes protection. Guest access Plenty of parking in the driveway and portacache’ (portache’ is a covered drive through between house and garage). This house has steps to each door, please note for anyone with difficulty with stairs or steps!!
Plum Tx is tiny, like really tiny.... but it’s quiet, peaceful, small, just the right place to get away, decompress, relax by the pool! Feel like you stepped back in time while staying here! And we are a quick 5 min drive to LaGrange Texas (stores. Food, shopping)
Pool: ** winter months we cover the pool ( Nov - Feb) **
The town was bustling the the late 1800’s complete with a saloon , 2 mercantile stores, a farm implements store, a cotton gin and post office. All are long gone, except the post office & a few houses! Plum is 5 min to Lagrange, 15 to SMITHVILLE, 25 to Round Top...perfect location for ANTIQUE lovers or to just get away and feel like your walked into your 2nd home! Other things to note Your coming here for a one stop shop, literally! To rest, relax, rejuvenate and maybe to buy some Central Texas antique treasures! Or relax by the vintage pool ( installed in the early 80s/ pools not modern or new its basic, but cool and refreshing) *** note during winter months we cover the pool **. Pool has a heater but it’s non working, so hot tub is a “COLD DUNK”, please DO NOT attempt to maneuver pool heating unit, will cause issues, and extra fee’s $350 charges.
This is a one of a kind house, full of antiques hand selected, and just about everything is purchasable! Your reading correctly, items can be purchased ( and that gives me great joy to go shop again to replace it!).... So feel free to inquire @ items of interest! Its our unique twist on an Antiquer's Air BnB
You come here to relax. This house is ‘off the Beaten path’ This is a small pocket right outside Lagrange, so no business to distract you. The house is the attraction & the history is fascinating. So come create new stories with your friends at The Morgan House Texas.
Bring a bottle of wine, or a book, sit by the pool or a small nook, and breathe deep and relax! Enjoy the outside, we have a BBQ pit for your use ( just please clean up when done!). We try to leave you with a few special treats inside for your consumption, from a local Plum Texas, organic Gardner ( Jan makes the best jellies, jams and scones ever!) she lives right down the road - we want you to know how special PLUM TEXAS is and its people!
Great internet access for those who cant put their phone down ( but we do encourage you try!) we have board games upstairs for you to 'try' -- NO TV's in the house (for a reason) !
Your home when here! Don't take our word for it- come see for yourself!

Enjoyed the whole property immensely. The main house is so interesting due to the history and decor. I found the fact there are no tvs very refreshing. Spent two wonderful evenings with our cousins visiting, reminiscing and making new memories in the den after spending the days shopping and dining in the towns. Host contacted me soon after our arrival to check and see if we had any questions or needed anything. She responded quickly when I contacted her later with a question. Would recommend this place to anyone looking for a memorable stay. Very clean. Easy directions on how to access and use the property.

Property was like a museum. No television, furniture not comfortable, front door did not work, water in showers had a sulphur smell, some windows did not have a way to have privacy, and trains that blare through two to four times a night. Very unique stay but not typical VRBO experience.

Absolutely fabulous
We had a wonderful stay. We're a group of women between 35 and 60 out for a relaxing weekend. We fell in love with the house and the grounds. Everything was clean and well ordered, plus any little thing we could have thought of was covered, from extra toothpaste to security lights. The house is central to several surrounding towns and the pool was a fantastic perk. Britanie was so easy to communicate with and so very nice. Max, the neighbors' dog, added to the homey, lovely, comfortableness of the place. When we were leaving, I told him I'd be back.. and I will!

Girls weekend!
The Morgan house was the perfect place for our girls weekend. We had six girls in our group and had beds for everyone. So much space to sit and enjoy quality time with friends. The house decor is so precise to the theme and breath taking. I felt like I stepped into a scene in Steel Magnolias!! We absolutely loved our stay. The house has everything you could need; snacks, coffee and creamers, extra toiletries, plenty of towels, paper plates, even an ice maker! Getting greeted by Max the neighbors dog was a treat and being awakened by the rooster’s crow was nostalgic! The beds were so comfy too!! We visited Bastrop, La Grange and the Warrenton/Round Top Antique Fair. The Morgan House is at an ideal location. Thank you Britanie for letting us enjoy your lovely home.

Comfortable & Relaxing Step Back in Time
My siblings, their wives, and myself found this property to be ideal for our week-long gathering. The country setting, the beautifully decorated and comfortably appointed home afforded a relaxed and enjoyable environment. The property manager is the best. Her attention to detail and all the little extras provided were great. Location is convenient for shopping, dining, and exploring a bit of hill country.

Acerca de su propietario/a
Propietario/a: Britanie O.
Born and raised in Austin originally, 10 yrs ago decided to move out of the city, and restored another 1925 house, that is when I got the BUG, to do house restorations !
Por qué escogió este alojamiento
Not sure I picked this area, I think the house picked me ! It was a serendipitous moment, driving around just looking for Property and pulled over to look at my phone and this house popped up on the screen, it was vacant and overgrown, bank owned ( which was rare and still is), so decided to call agent listing house and the rest is history !
Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial
This is unique house with a great Texas history ( and on the Historical Regsiter)- the house was built By the Morgan's, One of 3 brothers who came to Texas post Civil War.
Their dad died in the war and eventually all of the family ( including their mother and sister) settled in Fayette County. Each brother owned a business in the town of Plum and they co-jointly owned the Cotton Gin ( The Morgan's owned the Lumber yard, General Store, Farm Implement store and a saloon) .
So the house was built ( 1924) and it far surpassed any other local houses in both size, stature and features. Once we learned about the history we knew we had to remodel the house and keep its originality and bring some of it BACK to the originality ( by removing 1980s paneling etc). So now the house is full of antiques and we believe it to be a great house for Antique hunters coming to town to get away from the big city or to go hunt antique treasures in Lagrange, Round Top or Smithville !
The house looks like the 1920s but it feels updated ( insulated, all new plumbing and electrical) a pool and a huge yard, and 2026 we will have finished a private CHAPEL on premises
