A short walk to famed King Street, 'The Walled Garden' is an historically protected Charleston home, with private pool! Renovated with modern comforts, experience the charm of a traditional Charleston home, with sweeping piazzas overlooking serene gardens & pool.

The Space:
Relax at 'The Walled Garden', a charming protected historic home located on a spacious property, with private pool & ample outdoor spaces. Cozy living room, and separate kitchen. This two-story home offers traditional porches on both levels, for lounging & dining al fresco.

The Walled Garden accommodates up to 10 guests between 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths.

• Flex Bedroom Suite #1 – King bed (or two twins) & Twin bed + Ensuite bathroom
• Flex Bedroom Suite #2 – King bed (or two twins) & Twin bed + Shared bathroom
• Flex Bedroom #3 – King bed (or two twins) & Twin bed + Shared bathroom
• Living Room – King-size luxury memory foam sleeper sofa + ½ Bathroom

*All ‘Flex’ rooms can be converted from King beds to two twins when requested*

Guest Access:
Each Town & Island Co. unit is equipped with coded locks and unique codes that are changed regularly. You will receive all important check-in information 3 days prior to arrival.

Early check-in or late check-out requests are evaluated and granted on a case-by-case basis. We offer a luggage storage space on the property for guests to use as needed.

Getting Around:
Become a Charleston local at the California Palm. Located in the heart of the downtown peninsula, with a neighborhood location Rated a 97/100 walkability score. Explore Charleston with ease from 'the Walled Garden' private home.

Too hot or too far to walk? Not a problem, Charleston offers a variety of transportation options such as a free downtown shuttle, pedicab, or ride share companies. Contact our property managers with any further questions about getting around town.

Town & Island Co. is now happy to offer, through partnership with The Wonderer, all guests 25 and up access to Charleston’s premier global-inspired lifestyle club. This 2-acre private membership club nestled in downtown Charleston is a modern oasis offering resort-style amenities and a Bali-Tulum-inspired atmosphere unparalleled on the peninsula.

Guests can enjoy an indoor gym and fitness studio with daily classes, a recovery room full of spa therapies, private and shared workspaces, live music, and an active calendar of social events. Refresh and relax with the Jr. Olympic pool complete with pool-side cabanas or savor the onsite eateries offering breakfast, lunch, dinner, and trendy cocktails.

Once you confirm your reservation at The Wonderer, you will receive a link to book your time to visit the campus. Please note, all fitness classes and ticketed events are offered based on availability and may come at an additional cost.

*Please be advised that Town & Island Co. is not the same company as The Wonderer and offers this additional amenity to its guests through a partnership between the two companies. If access is not granted during your stay due to availability no inconvenience credits will be awarded. Any issues related to your visit at The Wonderer must be directed exclusively to The Wonderer staff.*


The Walled Garden comes with residential street parking passes for one car, a pass for each day of the booking will be left in the unit. While theft is rare Charleston is a city and we encourage guests to ensure their cars are locked and all valuables have been removed.

Town & Island Co. welcomes all our furry companions. There is a $75 non refundable pet fee. You are responsible to inform us you are traveling with your pet(s), so we can add this charge to your booking. Please note: If upon check out, we see evidence of an unregistered pet, the $75 pet fee will be taken out of your SD authorization hold.
We ask guests traveling with their pets to not allow them on any furniture to maintain the quality and cleanliness of our human centered spaces. **no pets on furniture and beds**

Beautiful property and great service

An amazing property! It was absolutely perfect for our group of 4 adults, but would be great for any type of group. The location is great, the area was quiet but a close walk to King Street and all the shops and restaurants. The home itself was perfect, very clean and comfortable. Small touches like clothing racks for hanging, detergent on hand for washer and dryer, and beach towels were great. Also, the outside area and private pool was so nice and made for a great day at the house. The hosts are communicative and very organized. Highly recommend!

Citadel Recognition Weekend

We selected this home for our son’s recognition at the Citadel, officially ending his knob year. Everything was perfect and extremely memorable. The location to the Citadel, King Street and 26 are awesome! We’ve stayed in this area several times and really love it. The Bagel shop and bakery are practically at your door and many restaurants and shops are nearby. Walking just few blocks to catch up to the cadets marching to Marion square down king for corp day was fabulous, we couldn’t have planned it any better. The porches on this house are dreamy and the pool is the icing on the cake. This house captures the charm and history of Charleston, we loved it and hope to return.

Highly Recommend!

This was such a great stay! The location couldn't be more ideal for walking to King St, short drives to City Market and to Folly Beach! Holy Smokes Bagels is a must (few doors down) and the heated pool felt more like a hot-tub - so nice! Thanks for a wonderful visit to Charleston!

One-of-a-kind find!

Booked this house for a 4 night stay and it was perfect! The kitchen was well appointed, the cleanliness was top-notch and you cannot beat the location. Would 100% stay here again!

Great Stay in Charleston

Enjoyed our time here. The house is beautiful with ample space for a family of four. The pool is a big bonus and it was heated so it could be used in February. Location js great as King Street is just a few blocks away. On the same street there is a bakery, bgal shop and cafe. We enjoyed our stay and would book again.

Clean and great location

We had a great time at the property. The place is clean, very close to King street, has a great bagel/coffee place close, and next door to an amazing bakery. The pool is very nice and relaxing after a long day of walking. As a FYI - the sink in the downstairs bathroom drains very slow.

Beautiful Charleston Property

This was our first trip to Charleston and we wanted to find a property convenient to College of Charleston and King St. This home was such a perfect find! We could walk everywhere if we chose and enjoy the beauty of Charleston on foot. Lots of cute bakeries and restaurants nearby. Management was quick to respond and the property was as described…a beautiful combination of historic and updated. The pool space was an added bonus! We would stay again!

Superb Location!

This place was great! We had 4 adults and a dog for our stay (even 2 additional adults and 2 children for one day due to a trip layover of some family members) and this was perfect for us. The pool is such a cool bonus to have in the middle of the city - we definitely took advantage. Location is amazing because you can walk to all the bars/restaurants on King but removed from the hustle and bustle and noise. We loved the historic charm this house has. Also the beds were SO COMFORTABLE! And this place was absolutely spotless, I’ve never seen a rental this clean before. The management was great too! Would definitely recommend this house for a stay!

Wedding Weekend

We chose this house and the Sugarsweet house at 59 Cannon for our daughter’s wedding downtown. If you happen to need more than one house, these two having connecting pool areas that uses a gate to get from one house to the next. The porches on this house are a fabulous place to unwind if you are not by the heated pool. The location is perfect and we never moved our car. Parking on Cannon Street was no problem. Everything exceeded our expectations and I would choose this house again.
