3rd Floor Penthouse Unit (3 bed/ 1.5 bath). This charming apartment is located in the heart of Pittsfield's Historical District in a beautiful Victorian Home. Enjoy looking out the beautiful stained glass windows original to the home dating back to 1899 or sitting out on the front stone terrace. Whether it is lounging on the rooftop deck, catching up with friends & family in the open kitchen/dining/living area, or reading a book in the office nook; there is a little special spot for everyone's needs!
The space
The Hollister House is located on a residential street surrounded by other beautiful Victorian homes. This unit is available for short & long-term rentals! The whole group will be comfortable in this spacious and unique space. It is within a short walking distance to the main strip, "North Street" with great shops, restaurants, and activities! Minutes from great entertainment: The Colonial Theater, Barrington Stage Co., & The Berkshire Museum. The Hollister House is centrally located within the Berkshires, providing easy access to attractions all year round! Whether you are here in the warmer months you can enjoy a short 15-minute drive to Tanglewood or spend the day on one of the many nearby lakes (Richmond, Onota & Pontoosac) for a day of swimming, boating, kayaking, and more! Or, visiting during the cooler months and spending your time out at the local ski resorts (Jiminy Peak, Bousquet & Butternut) all within a short driving distance from here! There are plenty of other outdoor winter activities such as; catching a show, snowshoeing, ice skating, ice fishing & cross-country skiing!

Berkshire Living:
If you are looking to just get away from the hustle and bustle of City life and want to spend some good quality time with friends and family, the Hollister House is located near some great local Wineries, Breweries & Distilleries! One of our favorites, Balderdash Cellars, is just 10 minutes away, where you can enjoy wine tasting, lounging, and listening to live bands, all while looking over the lake!

We enjoyed our stay! It’s a beautiful big old house in a lovely neighborhood. We were a large group and it was comfortable and roomy for all of us.

Good location & value, interesting old home

Located in a really neat old home, this offered a convenient location at reasonable price for our Berkshires weekend. Some updating / repair is needed and seems perhaps in process - which would make this a great spot!

Very Disappointed

The exterior of the house is nice, neighborhood is very nice, Unfortunately, the first shock is when you find out the unit is actually the Attic apartment, getting there requires climbing up a long narrow steep staircase. The apartment itself is spacious and bright, but very dusty which induced coughing spells. Rugs and carpets were old, warned out and not cleaned. Although there was a coffee machine, there were no coffee pods or tea bags anywhere, upon my inquiry I got the response that the reason for this is because of hygiene concerns (??) concerns that skipped the shower where we were unpleasantly surprised to find a used soap bar and no shampoo. This place does not justify the price charged for it. We obviously do not recommend staying there.

Fantastic stay

This adorable place is central to Pittsfield and made it really easy for my daughter and I go get where we needed to be. It’s a clean, great space. We’ll definitely be back!

Berkshire Wedding weekend

Great location and spacious property for a beautiful Fall wedding weekend. Close to everywhere we needed/wanted to go. Visited the Mount and Red Lion In. In Stockbridge and easy drive. The outside deck was nice too.

So much potential

We came for a weekend stay to attend a concert at Tanglewood. Upon arrival, we saw a lot of construction materials in the yard including a saw and piles of materials. The grounds were not well maintained. Check-in was easy enough but when we got into the apartment, we noted that it had not been cleaned. Food crumbs on the floors, unclean bathroom, particularly the shower (which was so dirty we had to bleach it ourselves. We also noted that one of the exit ways was cluttered which could have been a fire hazard. While the apartment slept 6, it only had one working shower; the master bathroom shower was inoperative (and appears to have been so for a long time) and this was not disclosed before we arrived. We did mention to the owner about the cleanliness while we were on-site and they said they would clean but that didn't happen. They offered to provide a refund of the cleaning fee and a token payment for our incovenience but given the overall cost of this property, that was small consolation. It's over a month now and they still haven't refunded the cleaning fee or inconvenience amount. On the positive side, the beds were clean and very comfortable. It's too bad as this property has a lot of potential but until some very basic repairs, maintenance, and cleaning are done, as well as getting the second shower working, I wouldn't recommend it.

Okay stay. Safety & cleanliness concerns

Providing a public review to provide incentive to improve the property. Overall communication was great. Property has mini-splits which provided great cooling in the summer temperatures. Property has an impressive entryway and ease of parking. Property has easy access to Pittsfield and Route 2. However there are some concerns about the property. Cleanliness is a 3 out of 5. Other people’s hair in the bathtub. Ripped/torn hand towel in the bathroom. Pans/oven were unclean and had to be cleaned to use them. Overall hardwood flooring dirty. After removing pillow cases for checkout, yellowed/stained/aged) pillows. Curtain rod left broken and hanging. In regards to safety concerns. The rental is on the third floor of a historical wooden structure. Egress is either down the stairs you came, or it has an external escape stairs off the wooden deck outside of the main bedroom. The stairs you can exit by are cluttered by random debris at the base. The wooden deck egress stairs are rotted, blocked and do not appear safe. It makes one consider how safe the decking itself is as you are sitting on the rim of the deck with aged wood held with one bolt on the back of the framing. I am not providing feedback for sake of complaining. I am hoping this feedback will be used to provide a better/safer experience at the apartment. There seems to be little safety oversight through VRBO. These are basic items that are a consideration for standard building code.

Lots of room!

We love Tanglewood and wanted to stay for the James Taylor concert over the 4th. this was a terrific place for us and another couple. Lots of room! we enjoyed playing cards and eating out on the deck. the awning came in handy when it started to sprinkle. it is a quiet neighborhood and only 15 minutes to Tanglewood. We cooked all of our meals and the kitchen was spacious and ideal. The house is on the older side but we found it charming. The ACs worked well to keep us cool.
