Cozy cottage along the beautiful Mitchell River

If you enjoy the outdoors, the sounds of the river flowing, and watching wildlife you will love staying at our cozy cottage. You can take a stroll along or go fishing at the river. There is a1so a firepit that you can relax by. Inside the cottage is everything you will need to be comfortable. As you watch TV or read a good book, you can turn on the gas logs in the fireplace. There are conveniences such as high speed internet and a smart TV. If you want to cook there is a full kitchen with dishes, utensils, and appliances. You will have a great view of the river from every room.
Occasionally, we do have baptisms at the river. We will let you know ahead if there is one scheduled.
It is located within 10 minutes from downtown Elkin, 15 minutes from Dobson, and 30 minutes from Mt Airy. We are close to many vineyards. If you enjoy hiking or beautiful views we are close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Stone Mountain State park, and Pilot Mountain.

This place was amazing! The owner was so friendly and helpful from day one. The home was extremely clean and well maintained. We had a great time and will absolutely recommend it to everyone! We can’t wait to come back!!

Tiny house with Big view! It is so nice to find a cozy place just the right size for two. Our reason to rent was because my husband could FLY FISH right there on property. A fishing guide had recommended the Mitchell River having the best stocked rainbow trout during the season of catch & release. The fall leaves in the Yadkin Valley were glorious!

The cottage was all that we had hoped. A quiet retreat to relax and come back to after a day of exploring wineries and hiking. The river and fire lit provide a wonderful back drop to sit and relax. The cottage is perfect for a couple.

This property was the perfect location for a quiet, relaxing weekend. We loved being able to listen to the creek and look out the windows to see nothing but nature. It had everything we needed in the kitchen and plenty of towels in the bathroom. We appreciated the snacks too! We'll definitely look to stay here again when we need another rejuvenating weekend for just the two of us!

Adorable cottage

House is cozy, clean, thoughtfully appointed, and as described, and within a short drive to wineries, Elkin, and hiking. Owner is very responsive. Property is serene next to the river and tucked back behind trees from the road. We went back and forth from heat to air due to varied temperatures and were always quite comfortable. Kitchen is well stocked and we enjoyed breakfast at the table with the morning sunshine. Note: there is no dishwasher, ice maker, or in-sink disposal, but we were only there for breakfasts, so didn't bother us. Bathroom has updated fixtures. Bed is right off the living space as pictured so you can watch TV from the couch or bed. Bed and pillows were a little firm for us. Living area was cozy. Enjoyed reading in one of the chairs by the windows. Could use a small coffee table in front of the couch so there is a place to put drinks. We enjoyed our stay and will plan to stay again when in the area!

Mid-Week Spring Break Interlude

We always enjoy staying here. Joyce and Junior are excellent hosts, and they are very responsive. We would give them 6 stars if it were possible! Always clean, well-stocked, and maintained. Beautiful, expansive, quiet property adjacent to the river.

Cody weekend retreat

Great quick communication with host Clean Well stocked Short drive to scenic overlook. Beautiful country in fall Less than 30 minute drive to Mt. Airy Personally I'm a big and tall guy, shower doors made it a bit snug, otherwise great amenities. Would highly recommend to friends and family.

Cozy Cottage

The cottage is all that we had hoped for and more. It’s beautiful and clean and as stated, cozy. The river and ponds were an added bonus. It was so peaceful and relaxing. It felt like we were in a different world. We hated for the week to end. The owners were very kind and assisted when needed. We couldn’t have asked for a better week.

Exceeded Our Expectations

We cannot say enough good about this property and the hosts. The house was very clean and boasted plenty of space for our needs. It was even better than their description on the Vrbo site. The bed was very comfortable, and we had plenty of cooking and dining space. The bathroom was also larger than we anticipated in a smaller cottage. We were truly amazed at the size of the yard and the amenities that were included. I thoroughly enjoyed practicing my fly casting at the two small ponds and later, wading and fly fishing the nearly half mile expanse of the Mitchell River behind the house. I caught a dozen fish, and my wife took several pics. My wife also swam in the swimming area on the river, and we lazed in the shade in the zero-gravity chairs in the evening. Also available was a lighted sitting area next to the river with a fire pit, picnic table, and horseshoe pits. We also witnessed a small paddle boat on the first pond. Although we declined, our hosts offered us tubes to float the river. On our first morning, we discovered that the Keurig was not working; however, within less than an hour, the hosts picked up the non-functional unit, and dropped off a brand new Keurig still in the box. Junior and Joyce are outstanding and hospitable hosts. We cannot wait to return in October!

NC weekend

Great location in the NC foothills! The cabin is very nice and clean. We spent a lot of time watching the river. We will definitely return!

Rest by the River

Such a restful time. The cottage was not only beautiful it has everything you could possibly need for comfort and functionality. We also loved the mix of vintage and new. Truly a unique and quaint aesthetic. In addition, the view from the bay window was stunning. We even saw chubby woodchuck hanging out in the backyard. Sincerely a special place. We will definitely be back.

Weekend get away

Wonderful location in close proximity to local wineries, Stone Mountain and Pilot Mountain State Parks. The property affords privacy and access to the Mitchell River. The owner maintains the property very well and is readily available to address any questions.

Peaceful Cottage Retreat

Joyce's cottage is the perfect place to relax and breathe deep. The setting is so beautiful and peaceful with the river running through the back of the property. I also noticed several different types of birds and wildlife. If you're looking for a quiet getaway, this is the place for you.

Happy Place

Our stay was relaxing and peaceful. We love staying there. My husband loves to fish for fun and we will return again in the near future. The cottage is very clean and stocked well. The bed is comfortable and the sheets are soft. We love the fire pit at the river, you can sit and relax. This is our favorite place to stay now.
