The Schoolhouse Cottage-Parking, Private, Close To Dunes and Town

Our 1900s Schoolhouse is the perfect family friendly house close to Silver Lake Sand Dunes! Plenty of room for yard games, enjoying a cup of coffee on the screened in porch, a bonfire at night sharing stories with your friends and family. Centrally located between Mears, Hart and Pentwater. There is plenty of parking for trucks and trailers! Campers allowed, limit of 2, at extra cost per night. We are 2 miles from the Dune entrance and 2.7 miles from Cedar Point County Park(recently updated). We are only a short drive from Muskegon, Ludington and New Era.

A peice of paradise

The hone and grounds are stunning!! Bwe sat and sang around the fire pit. There was plenty of room to camp out and very private too!!

Spacious & Cozy Cabin

Our entire group was very impressed by just how perfect the cabin was for our friend reunion weekend. The cabin felt cozy but had plenty of space for everyone to hang out together in the evening. There were plenty of sleeping arrangement options, and I would surely recommend taking a nap on that couch; it's super comfy. The house had all of the basic amenities you would need for a weekend trip, plus some more things like food seasonings and a s'more kit. Everything was clean, the property manager was very responsive, and the weekend was a smashing success. We highly recommend this cabin for any families or friend groups looking for a relaxing weekend getaway.

Great vacation.

House is the perfect size for a family of 6. Kitchen well equipped, everything that you may need. The coffee provided by a host for coffee maker was delicious. Back yard, screened porch, and grill perfect for entertainment and family time.

Perfect location!

This is a great place to stay. There is plenty of space in the bedrooms and bathrooms. It is close to the ORV entrance, the beach, and town. We loved sitting on the back porch having coffee in the morning and sitting around the bon fire in the evening.

Get away

Accurate description of the property. Comfortable and many amenities for large groups staying on the property. Easy checkin and very responsive communications with the manager. Nicely decorated with updated furniture and multiple outdoor seating areas for working, eating, sunsets and sunrises. Rooms were large, bedding was comfortable and bathrooms very clean. Plentiful towels and thoughtful starter supplies like toiletries, soaps, laundry supplies and even breakfast treaties. Perfect location for exploring multiple outdoor ventures. Would happily return for larger stays.

Summer 2024

Trip for family of 8, ranging from 9 - 74 years old. Property was well kept and had what we needed for our stay. I did reach out to the host with a question and got a response in a timely manner. Short drive to Silver Lake and just a little longer to lighthouse and beach at Lake Michigan. The only thing that could do with improving is how hot it gets upstairs, especially compared to the first floor. There is very little cooling from the vents and fans only help so much. We didn't spend a great deal of time upstairs, so it wasn't a huge deal to us, but if you like it cold at night to sleep in the summer, it could be an issue.

Great private area close to the dunes

I booked this house for a few of my buddies as we were planning on hitting the dunes. The location is private and scenic, and the backyard was great for a fire and a game of cornhole (boards and bags were on location). The house was perfect for our needs and we had everything we needed.

Family time

The house was super clean, great location. S’more station was great add, also the shampoo, conditioner and body soap as half my family forgot to pack it. The beds up stairs one queen was super soft the other super hard the twin bed were more on the firm side. Also didn’t help that there no ac vents for upstairs so it was more hot upstairs. First night we had some unhappy adults and kids but we just switched people to there preferred type of bed and had no problem after that. Other than that the house was well stocked and a great place to stay.

Highly recommended

Wonderful home, clean and with everything we needed for a three-night stay for 4 adults and 5 children. We loved the proximity to the dunes, the yard games and fire pit, the extra touches such as s'mores kit. Comfy beds and plenty of room for us all to sleep.

Silverlake Sand Dune Trip~Mears MI

This house was an excellent choice! Very well appointed in kitchen and with linens. Plenty of parking. Great fire pit. And thank you for the Smores Station! The family members who slept in the upstairs said the beds were not comfortable. I slept in the bedroom on first floor and it was fine. All in all, I would recommend the Schoolhouse Cottage.

My husband and I are from a little northern Michigan town of Mio. We loved visiting the sand dunes so much, we decided to buy a house in Mears. We love visiting but we also love having our guests enjoy it just as much as we do!

We chose this home because as soon as we seen it we fell in love with it! When you walk in, it just feels like “home”. The neighborhood is quiet, being outside of town but close enough to go enjoy it when you want.

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

I think our property is unique because of it’s history. It was once a Schoolhouse, being built in 1900, and it still has some of its original features from when it was built. The shed that sits in the backyard was the Schoolhouse’s entrance.
