Not as advertised

Overall the property is fine and Black Butte Ranch is always wonderful, but there was a major issue: The property is listed as sleeping 8, including bunk a room that sleeps 4. They've changed that room to a queen even though the listing still shows the bunk room. When we arrived and found it only accommodated 6, we called management who said they could see that at some point the listing has been changed to list that room as a queen, but was still showing pictures of the bunks and saying it slept 8. They said they couldn't confirm if the listing changed after we booked. We were offered an air mattress and a small refund. Only later did we realize there were only 6 bed pillows and had to put couch pillows in pillowcases we found in the closet.I think the new intent may be for two people to sleep in the loft, but that's a very different set up than a closed bedroom and completely non-functional when you've got kids going to sleep earlier. Plus the lack of pillows really drove home there was no intent of accommodating 8. I really try not to leave negative reviews but inaccurate portrayal of sleeping accommodations in a vacation rental is a pretty big deal.

Nice house, but I would not recommend

The house and furnishings are spacious, clean and nice. But, there were only 5 towels for 6 ppl, one hand towel and one dish towel. I tried to get more but vacasa wasn’t local and their local team wasn’t responsive. No pool or hot tub towels for the private hot tub. The TV in the master didn’t have any components to stream anything, there was only 3 std size glasses and the dishes and pans were minimal and worn out. Black butte is a fantastic place and we still had a great time!

Not for families with small children

The location of this home is great if you want to use Glaze Meadow Rec Facility. You're a two-minute bike ride away. Upon arrival, we could not unlock the door via the keypad. The operator did help us unlock the lockbox so we could access a physical key. Vacasa said they would come fix the keypad before our guests arrived two days later but that did not happen. There were a number of large, loose tiles in the floor in both the entrance way and the kitchen. This was problematic for our friends with a two-year-old. There are two bunkbeds in one of the bedrooms and the mattresses were comfortable, but there are no ladders to reach the top bunk. My 10-year-old could swing his way up there if he used a chair but my 7-year-old could not. This would definitely be a problem if someone on the top bunk needed to get down during the night. We did not bring beach towels and the pools do not provide them. There also were not enough beach towels in the house for all of us to use the pool/hot tub and some of those that were provided had obvious stains. There is no garage access so we had to keep our bikes outside but the community feels very safe and many families seemed to be doing the same. The hot tub was awesome - very clean and comfortable. For the price and our family's needs, we would not return to this home.

Disappointing

We arrived at the house and the key pad to unlock the door wouldn’t allow us in. “Thankfully” the side door was left unlocked which was unnerving knowing the house was left unsecured. Throughout the entire trip we had trouble locking the unlocking the front door even after we received keys to manually lock and unlock the front door.

Black Butte Family Getaway

Great location and well laid out house. Bonus to have a hot tub and beautiful deck. Some miscommunication over requesting a late check out because they thought the property was located in Texas and I had missed the request window. Otherwise, everything ran smoothly and we enjoyed our visit.

The Basics

The screen door was broken. The fire alarm unit started beeping and we called for service. We were told someone would fix the problem. No one ever came. We had to call again and this time they did come. No cable in this house. So we had have a nice stay but no extras in this house. Just the basics. No bikes, lawn chairs or beach towels.

Weekend Away

The location was beautiful in winter and we loved the hot tub! Day of check in process was easy. The additional $9/ person fee was not communicated clearly as we believed it was for using the recreational facilities (which we were not planning on using) and the reception said it was for maintaining the ranch and everyone needed to pay. As far as cleanliness, this is an area that can be improved upon. It had not been vacuumed (found trash on the floor, champagne cork in the bedroom) or cleaned for a while. I’ve stayed in way worse before but probably won’t stay here again until they change their cleaning protocols.

Comfy home w/ great hot tub!

This home was updated and had two beautiful bathrooms and was furnished w/ nice comfortable furniture and beds. But our favorite thing was the large hot tub on the wrap around deck. It had a setting where the color of lights changed like a rainbow...so cool! Only negative was the TV upstairs in the loft. The picture was dark and we couldn't get it to lighten up. Otherwise, great place, would love to come back!

Loved this house

Black Butte stay

The house was great, well stocked kitchen, nice bathrooms and plenty of space for us. There is a large outdoor deck which is nice, but it had pine needles covering all surfaces including the outdoor furniture. We ended up having to sweep everything off with a small broom.

My stay was excellent. The home was spotless clean. After getting the internet working every thing I needed was great. Very quiet and private. The master bed was fantastic I slept better than ever. I would recommend this place to stay
