Don't Believe the Positive Reviews
I made the mistake of reading reviews after booking. After reading through them I did see a few generic positive reviews and truly hoped for the best. I contacted Charlene (owner) just to introduce myself and to make sure any issues in previous reviews had been cleared up. She assured me they had. In the description it said, "Ask us about our "virus buster" and get 3 extra people to stay for free." So I asked Charlene about it over the phone and her response was, "Um, I don't know what that is. We just clean like normal."
Arrival: It was a little inconvenient to have to contact the owner (hours after check-in) in order to get access instructions, but she responded quickly. The home definitely had a musty/moldy smell (I would invest in some plug-in air fresheners). It was obvious the home had not been cleaned properly: debris on carpet in all bedrooms, roach in the master bathroom we had to kill, master toilet seat was covered in something black, dust on nightstands and other furniture, shower had mold and soap scum on glass, trash - such as qtips and other debris on the bathroom floor. So within 5 minutes of our arrival, we had to clean. I did take photos of all of this. Air conditioning BARELY worked on the left side of the house, where the master bedroom is. You could hardly feel the air coming out of the vents. I'm sure they are aware of this as the thermostat was the only one that was not locked. The rest only allowed for the air to go as low as 74F. Master room was hotter than outside so we moved the mattress to the great room. For this size home 3 units is not enough for this size of home. Pool was okay but not as clean as we would have liked, but it smelled like chlorine so at least it was somewhat sanitary.
Overall the home does have potential, but it is NOT CLEAN. Outside property could use some TLC. They charge a cleaning fee, which doesn't seem to be necessary. In my opinion this property was not worth the price. She did message me asking about our stay and I told her the above mentioned. She did not apologize, but did say she couldn't see what we could've cleaned even after I sent her pictures. I did explain to her it was not our job to clean. We would not stay again.
Side note: I saw another review mention the owner partially refunding them if they left a positive review. I'm starting to think that is why any positive reviews exist at all.
