at our "Desert Steampunk Studio," located in beautiful Southern Arizona (Tucson). The newly built space has Italian tiled floors, a paint pallet inspired by the 1920s Great Gatsby era, and southwestern furniture for an iconic golden age feel. The location is a rural hat-trick sitting on the edge of a natural desert valley with beautiful mountain views and stunning sunsets. It is close to fantastic desert hikes and minutes from downtown Tucson, the University of Arizona, and some of the territory's best restaurants. It's truly a unique desert stay!

Thoughtfully warm reception from Milan! The place was clean, comfortable and perfect for our stay at Tucson with our fur baby. It felt as if we were staying with family or friend. The porch light was left on for us and upon arrival, there were snacks and refreshments; which was much needed after driving from Cottonwood. Wished we stayed long enough to enjoy a fireside s’more or explore the backyard. We would stay there again!

pleasant and convenient with friendly host

This room was quiet, comfortable, spacious, and clean. Convenient location near food and tourist destinations. Milan was very welcoming and helpful, and supplied us with some excellent snacks. We really enjoyed sitting on the patio for coffee in the morning and sunsets in the evening. The place was a little hard to find after dark, as it is in an unlit neighborhood(a nice thing!) and the street signs are old and dim, so I recommend arriving during daylight. We would stay here again.

Wonderful surroundings

The sunset view is the best in Tucson, I think.The patio looks over a wash full of natural beauty with no nearby lights and just natural sounds. An owl lives next door and hoots at night. The neighborhood is quiet.Our hosts were full of advice for activities and went out of their way to accommodate us.We had a great time there!

Cool place to stay

Great Location and host.

The written and photographic descriptions are accurate. We are from Canada's east coast and found Tucson's >100°F heat uncomfortable We were in Touson for a family illness and the host, while remaining unobstrusive, demonstrated empathy to us and was genuinely helpful. A Great Experience!

Shawn was an outstanding host. Always willing to help and suggested so many places to visit and experience during our fourteen days. There were many things we would not have thought of to do without Shawn's knowledge and thoughtfulness. We would definitely stay there again.

Overall it was a nice little place to stay for the price. It was clean and close to outdoor parks and the city. The picture is angled to show just the mountains but does not show trash cans and trailer on the other side.

Awesome Studio and Awesome Location

We simply just loved this studio apartment. The view on the patio was breathtaking. Lots of space and storage inside. Close to anything you may want to do in the area. Hoping/planning to return next year.

Exceptional host

We so enjoyed cooking dinner on the patio grill overlooking the desert every night! The sunsets were spectacular and walking in the desert was fun too. Our host, Milan, was quick to accommodate a couple of requests we made, with enthusiasm! Also quick to help get out a couple of jams we brought on ourselves, which was very helpful. Loved that we were told to just leave everything for them to clean up as we had a plane to catch the morning we left. We would highly recommend this property to anyone wanting a quiet, relaxing stay at the west Saguaro Park edge that is close, but not in, the congestion of Tucson.

Great and cozy location in Tucson!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this cozy little cottage with a great view in Tucson. It is located in a perfect spot to allow you to get around easily. Communications with the property manager were very smooth. The room was clean and comfy. Many efforts to make it feel like home were evident including pre-stocked with drinks, books, games and tourist info. The towels were luxurious. Cannot recommend more highly.

Wonderful and private

We stayed here while in town for the Gem and Mineral Shows and its location was absolutely perfect. In a short time we were able to get everywhere we needed. Central location to so much. Property was clean and well decorated. Easy entry and great communication with owner. Looking forward to staying here next year!

Ideal couples retreat

Beautiful sunset vista. Quiet, convenient to area activities (we used it as a base for hiking west and east Saguaro National Park, Santa Rita and Santa Catalina mountains). Fun eating options, super clean, spacious. Modern kitchen and bath. Romantic fire ring with plenty of wood supplied. Responsive host. Relaxing weeklong stay. Highly recommended.

Fantastic Stay!

As a field geophysicist frequently on the road, I've seen my fair share of good and bad rentals. Shawn's VRBO property easily falls into the category of one of the best I've come across. I had the opportunity to stay at Shawn's VRBO for a single night before catching a flight later the next day. I was thoroughly impressed by the VRBO, the space is roomy, very clean, and had excellent temperature control. Although you share a building with the hosts, the space you stay in is completely separated and the hosts are incredibly respectful to your area. I had my own kitchenette, and bathroom attached to the bedroom.The kitchenette is a nice touch for any extended stays and is very nice + well stocked. The bathroom is also a positive, all the features in the bathroom were modern and definitely higher end. Everything worked smoothly and I was able to relax and take a long hot steamy shower after a long day. The attention to detail in the whole setup made a significant difference in comfort. I appreciated the layout and amenities that made my stay easy and enjoyable. In short, I can't recommend Shawn's VRBO property enough. For travelers seeking convenience, privacy, and quality, this is an excellent choice. No complaints!

Raised in Tucson, graduated from college in Portland OR, and currently working in the field of geophysics back in Tucson. I love the desert and all it has to offer. An avid traveler, I have traveled across the US, Canada, and South America. I enjoy people, conversation, and laughing. My hobbies are photography, cycling, and reading.

Before starting my career in geophysics, I had a small contracting business. I was recommended as a landscape contractor to the previous house owner by an existing client in the area. While working on the house, the owner and I became friends due to the unique way the house was built. As an environmental scientist, I was intrigued by the construction. The house was constructed as a concrete standup designed as a passive solar house in the early 1980s. It was built like a bomb shelter with 6-inch thick solid concrete walls on the edge of a desert arroyo. The previous owner was fixing it up to sell, so I bought it.

The unique benefits are its location, construction, design, and outdoor activities. Its location is rural yet close to amenities like downtown Tucson, the University of Arizona, and outdoor activities. The construction is new, with high-end fixtures, floors, and outside spaces. The design is desert steampunk. For outdoor activities, there are golf courses, driving ranges, beautiful desert hikes, and cycling on the loop (130 miles of a shared-use path along the desert washes/rivers).
