The property is well stocked with everything you may need except towels. We had eight adults and two children and I had to run to the store to get extra towels. It is located in a great part of town with easy access to shopping, restaurants and the beach. I had to call the office and they were helpful and prompt to reply to our concerns.

Not for Salt and Horns- was changed to the Happy Heron

Biggest complaint is the property calling me TWO DAYS before my scheduled stay to tell me the house would not be available. We were to stay at the Salt and Horns but was forced to select the Happy Heron or something smaller. The options given me were not what I had booked months before. More notice would have given me the chance to look elsewhere. I think an upgrade would have been justified as they were the ones who did not meet our agreement. If I had more notice, I may have just cancelled. Offering me something in our "price range or less" was kind of a cheap move. Upon arrival the downstairs bedrooms were not made up. They did send house keeping to make it right but that was after everyone had arrived. Found spiders in a bed upstairs and in the garage. Dryer handle was broken. Upstairs toilet loose and unstable. Leak under kitchen sink. Disposal barely worked. Bedroom ceiling fans inoperable. Several light bulbs burnt out. Dirt in the corners of the bedrooms. Wow, I have seen better at cheap motels. For the price one would expect above average conditions. Positives were a nice view, nice access to the beach via a boardwalk. Kitchen was spacious and well stocked. Living room was a good size with nice furniture. The bench seat at the dining is kind of awkward. Maybe ok for kids but not adults. Staff was friendly. Hated to give a bad review but hopefully efforts will be made to make this a desired place to stay.

Dissapointing

For the price, this house was not worth it. It needed to be cleaned, missing tile on staircase, spa didn't work (as mentioned in several reviews), mold in shower, roaches in kitchen, couch was stained so bad we put towels down to sit on it, old dog pee on walls.

Nice

Looks nice but needs some maintenance repairs. 3 story home with a elevator but doesn't work. Two many stairs if your out of shape and have heavy luggage. Views was great and inside was pretty.

So many little things that could boost this Property’s reputation Not worth the priceNo instruction booklet surround-sound system did not workBroken tile on first floor stairwellMy uncle slipped and hurt his tail boneIt cost 100 per day to trun on the spa, jets or waterfalls (option is all or nothing) I went in September, I did not need the heater however I was told if you don’t pay for the heater then you can’t use the spa jets, waterfalls or pool lightsNo trash bags, paper towels or laundry soap. Only one travel size dish soap. Elevator stopped working on the second to last day This house is 3 levels and 6 flights or stairs. It was so hard to bring the suitcases, Pack and play and bags back down Ice machine did not work Beer fridge is in garage, bottom floor at front of house. Makes for a long trip every time you want a drink. Recommend moving it to back deck along with ice machine. House was dirty / unkept. Couch had lots of stains No spare sheets for pull out beds in master room mosquitoes are horrible (deal breaker bad)Recommend offering some sort of treatment options No pool toys No beach towels Golf cart was swapped out twice Both times we had the wrong keySo we had to call them at least 4 times and still couldn’t start it in the last day. We missed out going to the beach before checkout I don’t typically write reviewsI thought it was important to share this info for the next guest. We had 10 people and paid good money, we all expected a better experience.

For the price I wished the hot tub and pool were in better working order. We called the office during our stay and no one came to fix. Otherwise I loved the house and it suited our needs perfectly.

Overall not satisfied due to the price we paid

Great location for access to the beach. The house is not maintained properly. A/C did not work properly. Silvesands sent an a/c company out and they said the unit needed to be replaced, the coils were clogged. The features in the pool worked for 1/2 a day, again Silversands sent a pool maintenance guy out and he could not repair pool. The gas grill was so rusted you could not use it. The house was not properly cleaned. We also had to go get more towels. It is really a shame that this once beautiful property has not been maintained.

Having a pool n a golf cart made this house worth it. Had to change out golf cart the first night. House was clean and was accommodating for 3 adults n 4 kids. Ice makers did not work. Lots of porches n seating for eating outside.

Perfect party house

Great Location, Very nice property, but needs a little work to be as great as the rate requires...

Feedback for 8445 Park Place, because we overall enjoyed and may look to stay there in the future! - Loved - Location is great - pool is very nice - Kitchen is stocked very well - Internet and TV access are very good - The view is great! - Great games in living room - Love all the books in various rooms - Golf Cart was great to have - Suggestions for Improvement to share with owners. - Lightbulb in refrigerator is out - One Lightbulb in stove hood is out - Tall lamp in living room doesn't have an on off switch on it - Under cabinet lighting in kitchen is partially out. That switch is near the utensil holder by stove. - The firing mechanism on the gas stove doesn't seem to be working right. The lighters on the left side initiate a clicking and nothing lights. Then the clicking won't stop until playing with all the knobs for a bit. - The ceiling fans are very dirty, we wouldn't use them - Clothes Dryer vent needs to be cleaned. - Pool - The pool was heated nicely once it was fixed. We had asked to have it heated so we could swim when there. We were disappointed it was ice cold and broken. After it was fixed the pool heated perfectly and quickly. The hot tub however never got above 90. - The bedroom downstairs had sand in the beds, like maybe there were not cleaned before our arrival. - Better proportion of towels and washcloths per room. Maybe consider a linen closet in large bedroom with all the bedding and sheets. We thought about using the fold out couch, but could find any linen. - Other than that one room, the sheets were nice. The bedding and decorative pillows could use an update, they were quite worn, some torn.

Salty Stay

The worst experience with a property management company ever. Booked a three night stay 3-5 to 3-8 early in March to celebrate 3 birthday's and a fun getaway during my nephew's spring break. Specifically booked this home because it is equipped with a heated pool. We arrived Saturday at 4pm, boys jump out of the car and ran straight to the pool only to scream out that the water was cold. We called the office and the maintenance person tells us that they weren't able to heat the pool because the credit card payment didn't go through. Hmm, really because I received an emailed receipt for the $300 payment to heat the pool for three days on Thursday March 3rd. We were told there was nothing he could do and we had to call back Sunday morning at 9am. We called back the next morning and spoke to Cheryl. She said that there was no issue with the payment and she would send the maintenance person to the house immediately. Maintenance person arrives at the house and notifies us that the pool cannot be heated because of a broken part in the main board. He proceeded to tell us that he had called in the problem to the property management company Thursday March 3rd, the pool company came out Friday March 4th and let them know that they didn't have the part needed to make the repair and it would more than likely take a few days, maybe Monday. The important point here is that our checkin date was Saturday March 5th at 4pm, the company had more than enough time to place a call to me so that they could notify me about the pool. If they would have notified me, I would have asked to reschedule the trip for a different date, considering the expected weather during our travel dates. Needless to say we were never able to enjoy the pool during our stay. We were given old internet connection information and there were small roaches in the kitchen. As of this review entered Wednesday March 16th I have been calling the office almost every other day only to be given the run around. My family and I make frequent visits to Port A, we will most definitely never book with this property management company again nor will we stay in this home again. Beyond disappointed!

Loved it

We had such a great time. The house was just the right size. If I had been cooking the kitchen would of been perfect. . But other than that everything was wonderful. Thank you again for everything. We will be back

The home was beautiful but we felt that is was not fully prepared to receive guests. The house didn't smell clean, the couch had stains and looked dirty, the kitchen had no dish rags or pot holders and the utensils were limited, the trash cans had no trash bags and there was an empty trash bag box under the sink, there were no tissue boxes or liquid handsoaps in any of the bathrooms. The vacuum cleaner was full of dust. Amenities listed a Keurig, Ice machine and DVD player and none of these items were available. We had packed Kcups and Christmas DVD's to watch and of course were not able to use either. The washing machine was broken and the refrigerator wasn't cooling. I called maintenance on the evening of our first day to inform them that the refrigerator was not cooling and I asked the gentleman to let me know what was going to be done. I never heard from him again. I called the number for the office and all I got was music, no one answered. You would think that someone would be available even on holidays. My wife searched the internet and found a different phone number and was able to get ahold of someone. This person seemed very concerned and said that he would make sure someone would come and check on the items of concern. He said if no one comes by to call him again. Well, no one called or came by so we called him again and he said he would take care of it. I received a call from the office asking if I needed ice chests for our food and I told them, it's a little late, we're leaving in the morning. We had to remove all the food and drinks from the fridge and take them to the fridge in the garage which was an inconvenience. Then a man showed up and inquired about the items that weren't working. He confirmed that the refrigerator and washer were broken. A while later the office called again and said they would submit a request to the owner to see if we could receive some sort of compensation. So far I haven't been contacted about any compensation. Overall, I would not recommend Silver Sands to anyone. The only reason we gave it three start was because the house was nice and roomy. We have stayed in South Padre several times, and the homes are also clean, well stocked with kitchen amenities, and maintenance people are always on hand should any problems arise.

Beautiful as Usual

We have enjoyed this property several times. It's a really nice place, the only complaint I have is the last two times I've been there I've paid for items that weren't working - and no one ever came to fix as promised. Also, there were bugs this time, not alot, but for the price - I'd expect no bugs.

Sorely Lacking This Visit

I have bad knees, so the reason we rent this property is for the elevator. The elevator was not working, maintenance came by said there was a blown circuit, he was sending out an elevator repair company. Never heard from anyone from that time. I got charged for a $250 elevator deposit, that I have yet to be refunded. Also, the ice machine was frozen solid and we had to chip it all away to get it to work. Just was very disappointed in the elevator issue as by the end of the weekend I could barely walk from having to climb three floors of stairs. Especially since I had to unload everything myself when we got there, which means I had to drag everything upstairs. TV's also kept showing no connection so I had no TV to watch. I finally figured out after two days that they were all set on the wrong wifi setting. Still a beautiful home, staying here again in October, just hope the visit will be better.

Everything was good except the things that did not work. For example the elevator wasn't able to be used and stove had to be lit with a lighter. Clicking sounds would not shut off at times on the stove. Also, the washer would not spin correctly at times and we also ran out of propane for BBQ pit. We had a few that had to be carried up the steps because of bad knees and were very sore by Sat. from the steps not knowing we were not going to be able to use elevator. Hopefully next time it will work for those of us that are handicap. Other than that we had a great time with family and friends.

Nice and Clean

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The House was pretty inside and out. It's a little older than the pictures show but it was still very nice. My biggest concern was that the hot tub did not heat up and actually turned off completely before reaching the desired temperature (and then never turned back on the rest of the stay). Given the other reviews saying similar issues about the pool/hot tub, I don't think I would include swimming plans as part of your stay in the winter months. The owners bathroom shower was very low flow but sufficed. The clothes washing machine also leaked pretty bad. Both of those issues aside, we enjoyed our stay.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: very nice house, several small problems that were taken care of quickly, one that recurred. The igniters on the gas stove all came on at once and stayed on from 30 min to over 1 hour, very loud and eventually turned off on their own, happened 2 days (told had something to do with the way the cleaning people cleaned the stove). It took a day to get the pool heater on, did work when turned on. A lot of stairs, 3 stories, has elevator but not an option to use? Over all enjoyed staying. My wife thought the drive way was very steep as well.

Rating Details: The property manager was very unhelpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was very unhappy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: House was under construction with roofers hammering away during the daytime. Shingles and debris falling all around the pool area!

Nice house but need more cleaning

- Nice and beautiful house - Nice walk to the beach - Water was running very slow at kitchen sink and shower bathroom. - Need more cleaning especially at the bunk bed room. Seems like they didn't mop at the floor. It is really dirty. - Spa at the pool was not working. We were trying to reach to the manager but no one gave any feedback.

Disappointed in Silver Sands

Rating Details: The property manager was very unhelpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was more than happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Dirty sheets, dirty bath tub, ice machines not working, broken tile, had to cover couch to sit. Left three messages for silver sands to call and still have not heard back from anyone.

BEAUTIFUL

Rating Details: The property manager was very unhelpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: By far the best place we've stayed so far. The place is beautiful and in a great spot. Would stay here again and again.
