Saltwater Taffy is a Beautiful and Charming 4 bedroom 3.5 bath home in Royal Sands Beachfront Neighborhood! Just steps from the Gulf and only about 25 feet from the neighborhood swimming pool area. Royal Sands has two neighborhood swimming pools (1 adult pool; and 1 children's pool). Our home offers all of the comforts of home with all the accessories for a perfect beach vacation. Saltwater Taffy has a well equipped kitchen for preparing those cold drinks and delicious meals after a fun day at the beach. Saltwater Taffy is furnished with attractive coastal furniture. We do allow well behaved pets with prior authorization and deposit. The beach is about a five minute walk away across a beautiful boardwalk that takes you across the sand dunes. With the Gulf on one side and the Bay on the other; our guests soak up a real beach experience. Port Aransas is in the migratory path for many species of birds; affording a great opportunity for birding. Bring your binoculars!

Great Stay and Experience

The stay was an amazing experience and location was great. All the room and amenities were outstanding. My family enjoyed it very much. Would definitely stay here again. I would also recommend for others to stay.

Family getaway

We loved the location and access to the beach. The house was the perfect size for our family. Loved that the pool was in our backyard! We hope to plan another getaway in the near future.

Fourth of July at the beach

Just the right size for the 12 of us! Sleeping rooms are large and appreciated the en suites in three of the four bedrooms. Kids ate at the island/bar in the kitchen and the adults ate at the table. We went in town to purchase dish towels and dish cloth so we could keep the kitchen they way we like it! Not enough living room space for all but a pool right out the back door was awesome. Lots of seating options by the pools and in the backyard. The walk to the beach was a bit too challenging for our octogenarians and toddlers. Lesson learned - reserve a golf cart! Appreciated the keyless entry and digital (emails and texts) check-in/check-out processes. We love Port Aransas and felt right at home in the Saltwater Taffy house.

Poor experience

For what we paid for this property we were very unhappy. My 12 year old son got locked in a room that he didn’t even lock. I had to remove the door knob completely in order to get him out. This is caused from having very very outdated finishes through the home. The A/C only worked when it felt like it. We came home after a long day at the beach to a 83 degree house. It wouldn’t cool. Then about 2:00 am it started working again. They didn’t even provide enough towels for our entire group. They did not provide shampoo or soap for the showers. The toilets had trouble flushing and then ran for a long long time. The pool looked lold and nasty. The entire facility and amenities looked so old and were falling apart. The location in proximity to the beach was great. But that is about it. We will not stay here again.

Very Disappointed

The pros are the location to the beach. It is just a few minutes walk. Also, the cleanliness of the home. We had a few issues during our stay. The smoke alarm went off every time we turned the oven on, even with no food cooking and the vent fell off the microwave when we opened the door. The property manager responded immediately. The cons, the issues just mentioned and none of the appliances worked well except the refrigerator. The home is in desperate need of updates. Also, the room with the two queen beds is a converted garage so there is no bathroom for that bedroom. It was very humid because it has a wall unit AC. There were some very inexpensive fixes that could me made. The shower curtain was moldy. Also, there is no window covering on the dining window so the evening sun blinded us at dinner time. We would not recommend staying at this home. We come to Port Aransas every year and have never had a bad experience until this stay. Despite all of the issues with the house our family had a great time.

The house was great for our weekend getaway. All interior was as pictured and clean, comfy. The back area needs attention. Pool gate is broken and BBQ grill is literally on last leg. But all in all we enjoyed our stay.

Our weekend stay

We loved the house!!! We loved the rooms and how nice they were decorated. We love the easy access to pool. Kitchen is very spacious just wish there was another couch for people to sit in living room. The only issues we had were the grill was too small and one leg was rusted and broken, my husband had to prop it up with a brick and was scared it would tip over when he was barbecuing our dinner. The golf cart was very old and had no power. The outside trash cans were full. A suggestion would be get a new medium size grill and maybe add some board games. Thank you

Saltwater Taffy

Our stay was wonderful and the service by your staff was great. We had a few issues and they were on top of it. I would like to add a few things just to make sure you are aware, wasn't a big deal and didn't affect our stay. There are a few cabinets that need to be fixed throughout the kitchen and bathrooms. The sink upstairs didn't drain. The grill is on its last leg, literally :) The floors needed to be cleaned better, not sure they were at all. Hairballs everywhere. The AC must have been set on a schedule because it was very inconsistent. Cold then hot, cold then hot. Again, these are just suggestions for future guests, overall our stay was great!

The house was nice for our family. It seemed to have everything we needed. It was nice that a golf cart was included since it was further from the boardwalk. The rental company was pleasant and easy to deal with. The only issue we had is the dishwasher didn't work and no one ever came to fix it while we were there, even though we notified them.

Nice house with a lot of sleeping area. Lacks common space, but that's what the beach and pool are for.

We stayed there with another family. There was plenty of space for sleeping. Didn't have enough seating space for everyone when we gathered to watch a movie in the evenings. There was a quirk on the larger bedroom that was a garage converted to a sleeping space in that it still had the original locks from when it was a garage on the door so you could "accidentally" dead bolt someone in that room, but they could exit out the front door if that happens. Having the Golf Cart was a bonus but it was smaller than most golf carts I saw in the area.

Good stay

Overall clean and functional and lots of space . Few things I wish it came with were a large kitchen trash can it was a small bathroom trash can in the main area. No trash bags and limited towels . If you have a large family expect to do towel laundry daily. It seemed clean but we did have bugs that we would find in the house throughout. The largest perk is all the bathrooms so everyone has their own space to shower .

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The kitchen was not stocked with updated accessories. We have stayed at the Village Walk prior and were so happy with those properties. They are so updated and the kitchens were so filled with quality items. This house kitchen was very hodgepodge and we were disappointed that the cookware was very old and pretty much useless. We were disappointed that there is not a set standard throughout Silver Sand rentals that should be followed. The BBQ pit is very tiny and inadequate for a rental for 8+ people. We love the friendly staff at Silversands and will book again but the staff at the Silversands golf cart should be a little more honest with what is available as it relates to golf carts.

The drawback was that it was uncleanly - dirty dishes in the cabinets, drawers in disarray, stray hairs here and there in the kitchen and bathrooms. If definitely felt like you were staying in someone else’s home versus a vacation atmosphere.

Just what we needed

Perfect trip during a crazy time. It was so nice to get away to the beach. The house is close to town without the congestion. Check in and out was very efficient and hassle free. Thanks for a great week!

Our Family Vacation at Saltwater Taffy

There’s room enough for extended family members to be comfortable and have their own space. It’s always clean and just feels so homey! The pool right in the backyard, and pool toys on the porch make it a favorite for the kids too (along with the bunk beds). All the beds are SO comfortable, more comfortable than any hotel I’ve stayed in. We also love that it have a front play room, large refrigerator and pantry since we like to keep a lot of food at the house during our stay. We’ll continue to stay here every time we visit Port A!

Cuye but Hot House

I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The main issue was with the A/C. One of the bedrooms used to be the garage. It is not ducted or insulated (the door opener and sprinkler controls are on the wall still). There is a wall A/C, but blows out at the mid-70's keeping the room in high 70's. The regular thermostat is upstairs which freexes teh other bedroom downstairs. It was in the low 80's, would be even worst in the 90's.
