This client contacted the property manager who immediately went to the house to inspect the damage and check on the renter. What the property manager found: no water anywhere inside the shower (walls, floor etc) which she found odd as the client said she was "getting out of the shower when the door broke" - all by itself. The property manager took video of the scene and again interesting, all of the broken glass was 'inside' the shower - not scattered all over from a spontaneous explosion. The shower door was tempered safety glass - I have been in the glass business (ironic) now for 37 years - so I know a little about glass breakage - I have yet to see one break 'all by itself'... you can decide what happened here. As for professionalism, I was conciliatory and professional letting the client know that I was not going to hold her responsible for the broken door ($500), I hoped she was okay and had a good time at the house... until she attempted to get me to pay HER money and that she was going to call an attorney. There IS ventilation in the bathroom - a window... I did not erase my voice text on the clients phone - it is not possible to delete something from another's phone. Like I said, I'm a glass guy, not a master hacker. The property manager did see the renter with a couple of bandaids and (in her words) 1 drop of blood on the floor. Look, things happen in a house, things break. I normally chalk it up to the cost of doing business and move on, but when one breaks something, uses their breaking my stuff to get $ from me, and then assassinates my character, I have to respond- My wife and I have three other vacation properties (a lifetime dream) on VRBO with hundreds of 5 star reviews - we want all our renters to LOVE the houses and have an amazing time - with no drama.
