Nice cabin, beautiful lake and great fishing

This was our first trip to Okauchee Lake. The lake itself is beautiful and clear. We came up for fishing as we heard the fishing on this lake is great. This did not disappoint one bit. We spotted probably a few hundred walleye on our fish finder, unfortunately didn't catch any.. If you are coming to this lake for fishing, I would recommend getting up early and going out as this lake gets really busy with recreational boaters starting at 11 AM everyday. By recreational, I mean amateur boaters that do not pay attention to what they are doing and make it impossible to fish the main lake. We were casting for muskie and we had ten pontoons cut in front of us and the shoreline just on a Sunday alone. If we go back, we will wait until fall or spring to do so. The cabin is a nice place, just the right size for me and my wife. The location is great, we walked to Smoke on the Water instead of boating over and it only took about 10 minutes. The public boat landing is only about a 25 minute walk as well. Also the cabin is nicely furnished with a couch, chair, a queen bed, laundry, kitchen has what you need, another bedroom that we didn't utilize. The deck is a nice size. The biggest issue with this cabin is the dock. We came with a 17 ft fishing boat and were told we could tie it up at the dock. After the first day the dock broke. Luckily the neighbor let us use his dock. If the dock gets fixed we would definitely stay again. By fixed, I mean replaced. It is a liability.

Beautiful Lake

The location and lake view was awesome! Wish the description of place was more thorough. We booked thinking there was a boat option due to picture on website, but didn’t hear back from the owner until 5 days after booking/inquiring even with multiple attempts on our end. We then were told that there was a double booking for one night so our 3 day stay now turned into 2 day stay. We were finally reimbursed for the extra night we paid for with multiple communication attempts again 7 days after he shared this news with us. The cabin is cozy. It was not dusted or appeared vacuumed. Dirty floors.Cleaning bedding and towels were provided. There was soap, paper towels and Kuerig cups provided. And there was air conditioning which was super nice to find out. We were super bummed about the broken dock which was vary unstable and not safe. There is no ladder to get out of the water or back on land safely. Multiple neighbors commented on the dock and that the state of its condition was a big liability and has been like that for as long as they can remember. There were kayaks, some life jackets and fishing poles available which was fun for kids to have :) Some positives and some bummers! Overall, we made the most of it and again, the lake view on the deck was the best!

Nice weekend stay

Location was perfect for our family to enjoy a long weekend on the lake! Many restaurants within a walk or boat ride. Plenty of parking out front and just the right amount of space needed for our family of 4. Ken responded quickly even after we had forgotten a beloved item after our leave!
