Welcome to our private, peaceful retreat on Hawaii Island's Hamakua Coast - Relaxing Gardens. Unwind and enjoy the panoramic ocean views from our home atop a hill in Laupahoehoe, Hawaii. Our lush gardens will delight your senses with color, fragrance and even a few edible fruits. Rainbows and Stargazing from our lanai will amaze you... no city lights to block views of nature!

Relaxing Gardens welcomes you to explore the inspiring Big Island from our convenient location on the coast between Hilo and Waimea. We are far enough from towns that you feel like you're in the country and we are close enough to fascinating Hawaii Island sites that you can be entertained every day. Delight in both Sunrise and Moonrise views over the ocean from our lanai.

Relaxing Gardens sleeps 6 guests and offers three bedrooms. One bedroom is on the main floor with a Queen size bed, desk and chair. There is a full bathroom from the hallway with an elegant 'walk-in' shower for ease of access. Also on this main floor is our well stocked kitchen, dining area with panoramic ocean views, and a comfortable living room with TV and free Cell-Tower WIFI . You will also certainly enjoy the full, covered lanai for hanging outside!

Upstairs is another full bathroom with two sinks and a deep bathtub with shower. There are two bedrooms upstairs. The main bedroom boasts incredible ocean views, a Queen size platform bed plus a Full size bed. The third bedroom has a Queen size bed and sunrise views over the ocean. There are floor AC units in each bedroom, but the house gets great breezes and crossflow ventilation when you open up the windows instead.

We supply games, beach chairs, beach toys, wine cooler, outside shower and clothes line. We also stock a starter supply of soaps, detergents, and paper products. Please purchase your own refills for longer stays, mahalo!

Loved the comfort of the house, the lanai and the lush setting. Amazing star gazing as a plus. Views to the ocean, very quiet other than the nature sounds of coquis and more. The kitchen is very well equipped to cook. Comfortable bedding. All we needed for a wonderful Hawaii experience, 6 stars!!!

The best spot on the island!

This place is amazing. Feels like you’re so far away from everything, yet close enough to drive to whatever we wanted to see. The geckos and frogs are everywhere, the sunrises are beautiful, and it was everything we wanted and more!

The house has a beautiful front porch that overlooks the ocean and is the perfect way to start your day with a cup of coffee or end your day looking at the stars. The house has some additional supplies that were super helpful: beach chairs, coolers, snorkel gear to name a few things. The management company provided a very informative binder with details specific to the area which was super helpful. The rental was as advertised - overall a great experience.

Fabulous retreat

What a gorgeous house, and what an amazing garden. A short drive to Hilo and a shorter drive to other small towns worth a visit. Modest kitchen with most necessities, everything was clean and in great shape. Amazing beds and views. Very private from neighbors. A wonderful, comfortable stay.

Beautiful View

The pictures of the property are perfect of the property. Beautiful home and location. Road getting to the property is a bit steep and curvy but worth the drive! The property is in the rain forest and that comes with geckos, but they kept to themselves.

Privacy and a wonderful ocean view

Our family of 4 stayed at the Relaxing Gardens home. The property was secluded (which was fantastic), it had gorgeous vegetation, and a beautiful ocean view. It was very spacious and we all had our own space to relax and rejuvenate ourselves. There was plenty of outdoor seating, a hammock, and space in the front of the house to go outside for some fresh air. The kitchen was well stocked and we lacked for nothing. Relaxing Gardens is a great place to stay. We used it as our home base as we traveled around on the Big Island.

Amazing!

The pictures do not do justice for how beautiful this home is! We were in instant awe when we turned the corner and saw the amazing home and garden. Great instruction on how to get in, extremely clean and homey. All communication was fast and friendly, and the neighborhood was gorgeous. Dream home, perfect vacation!

Could not be cuter! Lanai is a dream, kitchen is a dream, landscape is a dream! The carport is tricky with a SUV/minivan size car but you can manage it

Fantastic home near Hilo

Absolutely wonderful stay at this property. The house was in an absolutely gorgeous setting on a well-maintained garden lot with a great view of the ocean and sunrises. It was very convenient to Hilo and many of the sites on the Eastern side of the island, including Carlsmith and Richardson beach parks, volcano national park, and Hilo. And it was relatively easy (an hour and a half drive) to Kona and the west side of the island. The house itself was clean and comfortable, with large, spacious rooms and comfortable beds. The kitchen was stocked with all the cooking pans, knives, and utensils we needed. It was such a great home. A wonderful stay and a wonderful home.

Incredible property out of the mainstream!

Beautiful, comfortable, well equipped home situated in a garden paradise with panoramic ocean views. The care and communication from property managers was the best we have encountered during numerous rentals! This was our first time staying north of Hilo and found it very relaxing. It is a 27 mile pleasant drive to Hilo and 14 from Honoka’a north. The home is located on a one lane road and environs are very peaceful. Picked oranges and limes for great juice… marveled at the daily flower display. The beds comfortable, furniture very nice, spotless and well cared for property! Could go on and on but suffice to say if you desire a well situated, relaxing, easy to get to the sights and attractions spot to land, Relaxing Gardens is it!

Lovely and Private

The house is in a private and some what remote location north of Hilo. It’s a little tricky to find, but once you open the gates and find your way in, you are glad you came. Beautiful views of the gardens and ocean are had in every room. Kitchen is well appointed with almost anything you could need. The whole house was spotless! We stayed 5 days and were very comfortable. Do realize that almost everything is quite a drive. Volcanos NP is a 90 minute drive through Hilo and the attractions of the Kona area are 90 minutes north. Akaka Falls is nearby and there are other local attractions if you look. We would definitely return. The management company was very responsive and helpful. The fruit and other snacks were much enjoyed!

Walk around the neighborhood was so fun. The clementines that we got permission to pick were just incredible - still thinking about them. Overall, one of the best places we've ever stayed at and we would definitely go back! Highly recommend.

Perfect stay on the Hilo side

Reviewer Comments: My family and I have been vacationing on the Big Island for over 30 years and have always stayed on the west side of the island in Kona or Waikoloa. We tried this rental on the east side for the first time. We’ve all agreed we will be staying on the east side and, hopefully, in this home from now on. It’s the most aptly titled rental. It truly is a relaxing garden. The home and gardens are magnificent. The sunrises from the front lanai are amazing. There is a little general store with a bar and restaurant about 4 miles away, otherwise you have a very isolated feel. Hilo is only about 35 mins away. There is a nice oceanfront park about 2 mikes away where we snorkeled, played frisbee, and explored tidal pools everyday. This was absolutely our best Hawaii experience ever.

Beautiful Location

The location overlooking the property and the ocean is incredible in the mornings. Sunrise is a special event. The house is well maintained, furnished well, and has all the amenities that you need. While on the more rainy side of the island, the rain occurred in the evenings and did not interfere with our plans. There was mentioned the sound of frogs, but we found them soothing along with the rain at night - a natural green sound machine. Someone in a prior review mentioned the road, but the road was good - one lane, curvy and paved - any car can make this road going slow. I would recommend this house if you are looking for a quiet location to recharge and be away from the city. The sunny side, Hilo and the volcanos were all within less than an hour drive. Nearby the house is a great local store and restaurant - Papaaloa Country Store (papaaloacountrystore.com). Look online for their hours. The store had most things you need, and the grab and go food was excellent. I recommend trying their fish tacos and Lilikoi Cake which is addicting.
