Welcome to Åttekant Cabin! Attekant is Norwegian for octagon, the shape of this very unique home. True to original octagon architecture, this 8-sided house features a large patio and wrap-around veranda along with a hot tub, three fireplaces and lots of space to host family and friends.

Great location, one of only a few homes within the State Park. Minutes away from Rib Mountain retail stores and restaurants while being located on Granite Peak Ski Hill with hiking trails and all sorts of outdoor recreation right out the front door.

Explore Granite Peak Ski Resort! Provides year-round fun for people of all ages, with a wide range of activities from scenic lift rides in the summer to premier skiing in the winter. If you are looking for more ways to get your adrenaline pumping, Nine Mile Forest is just a few minutes away with miles of mountain biking, snowshoeing and cross-country trails.

This premier ski property is just a short drive away from the top of the mountain where you can park your car and ski down. It also makes a quick and easy drive down to the home at the end of the day without having to deal with general parking at the ski resort (this property is not ski-in, ski-out). After a long day of adventuring the mountain, enjoy a fire in the outdoor firepit, cozy up to one of the three fireplaces, or relax in the large 7-person outdoor hot tub and enjoy the stars!

This place is incredible! The setup for accommodating a large group, lots of shared spaces for gathering and outdoor spaces to enjoy nature, it’s perfect! We came into town to experience the spring skiing, and it did not disappoint! We will be back again 100%!!!

We needed a place to gather for Christmas with adult kids and grandkids - poised for the imminent birth of the next one here in Wausau. Our adult kids deemed it a ‘magical’ Christmas! The house and setting worked great. Kitchen had everything we needed. Good spaces to gather and to eat. Plenty of parking. Good communication.

Great home! Perfectly outfitted, clean, great vibe and ski lodge feel. Three fireplaces were nice and living room one put out nice heat and sat the 6 of us comfortably around a nice solid table for games and a big puzzle. Beds and pillows were great and comfortable. Hot tub a nice add. Kitchen had everything you would need including a decent selection of condiments, baggies, cleaning stuff etc. Stayed with wife and 4 teen and adult kids, skied, enjoyed everything about it. Will return.

I recently stayed here and it was fantastic! The cabin's design is both spacious and cozy, with a large patio, wrap-around veranda, and three fireplaces. The hot tub was perfect for relaxing after a day of skiing. The location is ideal, just minutes from stores and restaurants. Overall, it was a perfect blend of comfort and adventure, and I highly recommend it.

Spring Ski Trip

Great location for skiing at Granite Peak. Three other Dads and I brought eight 13 year old boys up for an annual ski trip. The sleeping arrangements, kitchen and access to the state park lot at the top of the mountain made this trip a great success.

Stay for out of the town funeral

The house was amazing. Mattresses, pillows and linens were so comfortable. Well stocked kitchen and bathrooms. Great area for family to hang out in the kitchen and living area. Beautiful decks and outside space. Would definitely recommend and stay agin

Definitely a unique place to stay!

We had 4 adults and 3 children at this place for a long weekend of skiing at Granite Peak. There was ample room for everyone to sleep (we easily could have slept 4 more people) and eat and hang out at the house. The only thing that would have made it better would have been another comfortable lounge chair or two in the living room. Not enough comfy spots to crash after a day on the slopes. Otherwise A!

Great location for ski trip

Excellent communication from the host before and during the stay. The house is well stocked with everything needed to cook indoors or to grill outside, even in winter. Beds and bedding were comfy. Outdoor hot tub was great. Wifi worked well throughout the house. My only suggestion is to consider adding a second TV in the lower level so that some can watch movies, connect a gaming system, etc. while others are using the upstairs TV. Would definitely book again, thanks for a great stay!

Great place, great location!

We come to Wausau annually for a ski trip and this has been the best place we’ve stayed at by far. For experienced riders, you can drop in at the State Park just up the road from the house. Otherwise Granite Peak is just a short seven minute drive away. We had four adults and five kids in our group, there was plenty of space for everyone. The hosts have done a wonderful job to make the cabin feel just like home and the hot tub is an added bonus! Thanks Kari and Ivan for everything.

Quite, Secluded, Convenient, Well-Appointed

Our family had a wonderful stay at Attekant. Kari and Ivan were attentive and responsive hosts. The home is situated high above the road; beautiful sunrises in the morning. In fact, beautiful views from nearly every window that make you feel you’re in a secluded, woodland. Our son, daughter-in-law, their three kids and dog used the entire lower level off the garage. It’s set up perfectly for a family! Mom and dad had a spacious bedroom with kingsize bed and fireplace, kids had a “bunk room” across the hall. They had their own family room [with fireplace] and a large bathroom that included a washer/dryer. The kids could play and we never heard them upstairs. Upstairs has a big living room with fireplace and beautiful views. The kitchen has high-level appliances, a table seating 8-10, an excellent selection of cookware, knives, utensils, spices, etc. Dishware, serving dishes, glassware were plentiful and new [everything matched…just in case you’ve ever been to a VRBO that had random low-quality pots, pans, and dishes that appeared to have been purchased at garage sales]. We had our own bedroom/ spacious bathroom down the hall from the kitchen, and there is an additional bedroom with a full bath across the hall. There is one bathtub upstairs; it’s jetted but we didn’t use the jets. The outside deck is HUGE. Due to the very cold weather, we didn’t use the deck, grill, or hot tub. However, it looked like a fun place to hang out in warmer weather.
