This spacious, well equipped 4 bedroom home is within 30 minutes of Lynchburg, Natural Bridge, Buena Vista. and Bedford, VA. It sits at the base on Terrapin Mountain in
Big Island, VA and is within 10 minutes of the James River, George Washington National Forest and the Blue Ridge Parkway. The area boasts wonderful hiking, kayaking, hunting and fishing.

Great house off the beaten path

A group of friends stayed here for the weekend to attend a memorial service. It was a great house is a very beautiful location. Would be a great home base for exploring the area.

Great property great owner

Beautiful large home with a great kind owner Very clean and spacious Older furnished but every piece of furniture and decoration is in perfect condition and truly love the home and location In went was super responsive and seemed like the only goal was to be sure our stay was great! We would stay here again!

Beautiful home and property! Very quiet at the end of the road. Wonderful view into the woods from the back porch. Just a cozy, welcoming home that was perfect to decompress for a few days! Will definatly be staying there again!

Terrapin Mountain Run Getaway

We had a great weekend! Kate is excellent in her pre-arrival communications and all is as described. House layout, common spaces, kitchen and grill all contributed to a great time with friends and super-convenient logistics to Terrapin Mountain.

Terrific Hospitality and a Beautiful Home!!!

Spacious home in tranquil setting near Natural Bridge

This was a spacious, clean and well-stocked home (kitchen was great) in a quiet neighborhood with easy access to Natural Bridge. It is just 30 minutes away from Natural Bridge, Bedford and Lynchburg. Lots of bedrooms and comfy hangout spaces. Kate was a very helpful and accommodating host.

Wonderful stay!

If you are looking for a quiet house in the mountains, then this is the house for you! The check in and check out process was so easy and everything we needed was provided for us. The kids had a lot of fun playing ping pong and hide and seek and there was plenty of room for all of us to spread out! If we are ever back in that area, we would not have to think twice about renting this house!

Wonderful Experience

This home was large and spacious for the 6 of us, all adults. The surroundings were very pleasant and serene, a very calming experience. I would definitely consider going back if I had that many people again. The owner, Kate was easy to contact and talk with. Despite the rain we had a lovely time.

Great place for our family to get together! My Brother from Ohio and me from Williamsburg. We met to have the rest of the family see my daughter off to Liberty University. It is about 30 minutes from there but was away from all the chaos of Lynchburg. We also set out to Gross Apple orchard for some nice treats and fruit. A lot of local places to go hiking and Natural Bridge is not too far, but unfortunately we did not have time to make it there. The house has a large living room for us all to sit and visit. Lots of bathrooms and all the needed equipment in the kitchen. The Host was very informative and polite. The place was peaceful and quite. Saw some young deer and the air-conditioning worked very well. We would come back again if coming to the area.

The house was spotless. Everything one might need was there, many times in duplicate. Paper Towels, soap, TP, bedding, shower needs, you name it A stair lift, fans, lots of parking. Owner was very responsive and helpful. Away from everything! A great stay!!

Perfect home for a family get away!

This home was perfect for our families to come together and spend some quality time together. The home had plenty of space for our group of 10. Not far from the home was an elementary school where we were able to play a kickball game then let the kids play at the playground. Kate was amazing with communication! She is a great hostess! Hope to stay again in the future!!

Wonderful!

We had a wonderful break at this home in Bedford County. The house was spacious, comfortable, fun, and well equipped - we were at want for nothing! Kate was easy to work with, kind, and very attentive when we had a question. We enjoyed Natural Bridge, the Drive-thru Safari, hiking, and time in Lexington. We will be back!

Epic Quest Trip

My husband and I took our grandchildren to SeaQuest in Lynchburg VA. We had sooo much fun and made wonderful memories for our family. The children also had never played ping pong so the table downstairs came in handy and kept them occupied when not out and about. It was also nice to have many full baths so that cut down on preparing for the day time!

Hi, I'm delighted that you are interested in our vacation home in beautiful Big Island, VA! I came to Bedford County many years ago and love the serenity of the country hills. On my hobby farm I enjoy my 2 pet cows, chickens, cats and dogs. My three, nearly grown children are now scattered across the state but all enjoy coming home to the peace and quiet at the base of Terrapin Mountain.
While not tending to my animals, properties or kids, I work for Bedford County Public Schools. As a former biology teacher, I help students with a variety of needs.
Finally at the end of the day once all responsibilities have been met, you may find me walking/hiking, cooking or planning my next vacation. Traveling is a wonderful thing, it never ever gets old!
