Getaway Cabin on the Rock River, enjoy kayaking, canoeing and fishing

The property is located on the Rock River in Oregon, IL and is perfect for group gatherings up to 8 people. Enjoy fishing, kayaking, or canoeing on the Rock River. Golfing at Silverridge Golf course is about 10 minutes away. Like hiking? There are multiple parks close by from Castle Rock, Lowden State Park and White Pines. These are beautiful state parks that could take days and days to do all the trails. The house is 2 ½ miles from the town of Oregon which has multiple restaurants, bars, a grocery store and a Dollar General store for any emergency necessities that may be needed. Other activities close by; horseback riding, golf, and you can enjoy a lunch or a dinner cruise on the Rock River.

The cabin on the river is a must see. If you need to get away from it all, then this is the home for you. There’s a full-size kitchen with all the amenities to cook meals, an outdoor gas grill, and multiple decks to enjoy the views of the river. If the weather is not cooperating and you just want to watch TV, you can pop in a movie in the DVD, or watch TV with Roku next to a cozy gas fireplace. There are plenty of games to choose from and lots of books if you just want to relax with a good read.

The cabin has 2 bedrooms with queen beds on the 1st floor as well as a bathroom w/jacuzzi tub. There’s a bedroom w/2 twins beds upstairs along with a bathroom and a loft area that houses another queen bed.

Feel free to bring your canoes/kayaks or rafts as there is a launch pad up by the dam in town which you can drift down till you arrive at the house. What better way to enjoy your day than to float down the river.

If you're an early riser, you can enjoy seeing the sunrise. Or, enjoy a beautiful sunset at the end of the day all from the back deck. Into bird watching? There's hardly a day that goes by that you won't see an eagle flying along the river.

Great view of the river. Classic rustic cabin with furnishings to match. Good WiFi . Everything in good working order. A little close to neighbors, but generally quiet. Quick drive into town. Bela’s Cafe full of regulars and excellent food for breakfast or lunch.

Friends Getaway Weekend

The property has a great location on the river and on a quiet street. The house itself is quite spacious. The house has a nice sun room and well and a big deck. Highly recommend for a nice getaway on the water with family or friends!

Hidden Gem

If you are looking for the perfect spot for your group of 6-8, this is it! The wrap around deck, fire pit and outdoor grilling station are just part of why it is perfect. The indoor kitchen is perfect for a group cooking and serving. We had a great thunderstorm roll through and watched it from the huge screened in porch! Bring your tubes and put in up the river near the dam and float back to the property! There are stairs leading up from the water but no beach front or actual swimming area at the property. Very rocky (aka Rock River) so use caution. Oh, and a wonderful chicken came to visit us daily!! Can’t wait to return!!The host is responsive and prompt with messaging. This was the relaxing weekend we all needed.

Pleasant Gathering on the River

This very pleasant cabin on the river provided us with lots of room and comfort as we gathered from across the country to attend some business and family meetings. We were pleased to find a place we could all stay together. Most of our time was spent away from the cabin but it was nice to relax there at the end of the day.

Beautiful property

The owner has done absolutely everything and more to make this a top vacation spot. Interior has an amazing log cabin feel, cozy, rustic, and welcoming. Everything you could need. Check in and out was easy, and although it was too cold to be outside much. it’s easy to see that there’d be a lot of options with a fire pit, grill, and steps down to the river. Place felt spacious and homey. 5 stars overall, although be aware that the neighboring properties are very close, so might not be as much privacy in summer months when people are outside, and some of the neighbors are displaying large and prominent political signs, which may make it hard to relax for anyone trying to switch off and get away from the world. None of that is the owners fault though- important to reiterate that the property itself is as good as it gets on Vrbo.

Cozy Thanksgiving

This was a cozy place to spend Thanksgiving weekend after visiting family in Rockford. I was craving the crackle and pop of a wood burning fireplace and arrived with plenty of firewood. The fireplace is GAS which was a surprise. Besides that minor let down it was a comfortable weekend and the river is beautiful. Great shower, good kitchen. It was frigid during our stay so we didn't get to take of advantage of the parks in the area, but there are plenty of options for outdoor activities nearby. Next time :)

Ladies Retreat

Our stay at the Getaway Cabin was a delightful experience. The beauty surrounding the Cabin was overwhelming. The sunrise and sunsets on the river were miraculous! The home was just as extraordinary! It was charming and cozy! We had everything we needed! The kitchen and coffee bar space was a main gathering area for us as well as the outdoor kitchen area. We had a group of 9 ladies, spending the weekend together for a spiritual retreat. We had plenty of intimate spaces to gather together in conversation and fellowship indoors and outdoors. There was also more than enough space for each of us to find our own little spot when we needed some quiet time. It was a joyful and peaceful getaway. We can not recommend the Getaway Cabin, highly enough. We are already making plans to return next year!
