A one-of-a-kind lakefront getaway, thoughtfully created inside a full-size school bus and set just steps from Lake Granbury. The Riviere Skoolie pairs a memorable place to stay with the comforts that make it easy to settle in: a private two-person hot tub, a separate bathhouse, kayaks, a propane grill, and your own outdoor space near the water.

It’s designed as a romantic escape for two, with room for a small family to join the adventure. Enjoy coffee by the lake, take the kayaks out from shore, or spend a quiet afternoon on the three-hole putting green. If you’d like to fish, bring your own rod and tackle. Guests have even landed some surprisingly large catfish from the shoreline. In the evening, grill dinner, relax in the hot tub, then gather by the fire with the lake just beyond.

Inside, the school bus has been converted into a comfortable, colorful retreat with a queen bed and two twin beds, heating and air conditioning, WiFi, a smart TV, and a kitchenette with a refrigerator, microwave, sink with hot and cold running water, and utensils for coffee, snacks, and simple meals. All three beds share one open-concept sleeping space, so it works best for a couple or a small family who are comfortable sharing the room.

Your private full bathroom is in a separate, roofed bathhouse just steps from the bus. It has a hot rain shower, hand sprayer, vanity with hot and cold water, teak bench, flushing toilet, towels, restored lockers, and an interior lock. The bathhouse is fully private and roofed, but because it is an outdoor structure, it is exposed to outside temperatures and is weather-resistant rather than completely weatherproof.

The Skoolie sits in a private, well-kept outdoor area with its own parking, privacy fencing, and room to unwind. The bus, hot tub, bathhouse, firepit, and designated outdoor living areas are reserved for your stay. Other Modern Nomads accommodations are nearby, so you may occasionally see other guests around the larger lakefront property. Your hot tub and bathhouse are never shared.

Historic Granbury Square is about 10 minutes away, with restaurants, coffee shops, wineries, boutiques, live music, and seasonal events. Or stay close, enjoy the water, and let the day unfold at its own pace.
