Pookie + Bubba's is now booking for Spring/Summer 2024! We are oceanside/"between the highways" and dog friendly (2 dogs max). If you are looking for less than the minimum required, feel free to message me and we can try to make it work!

This classic 3 bedroom, 2 bath oceanside Nags Head beach cottage is the perfect getaway for family, friends or couples who appreciate a vintage vibe and nautical decor! This cottage boasts outdoor living at it's finest - one screened in patio off the kitchen, a porch off of the dining room with brand new EZE Breeze windows, a porch off of the king bedroom and ample hangout space under the house. This is a great home for those who like to live the simple life while at the beach. Our new outdoor shower is the perfect way to end your day on the beach. Both of the full bathrooms were completely renovated in January 2023. All guests staying at Pookie + Bubba's will have access to Nags Head YMCA Pool + Fitness Center (.3 Miles from cottage). See below for more information.

Located on a quiet cul de sac and only a 5 minute walk to Bonnett Street Beach access (lifeguarded beach access, complete with showers and restrooms), the location can't be beat! We manage and clean the home ourselves - you will not find a cleaner rental home! We are considered "oceanside" which does not require you to cross a major highway to access the beach.

Pookie + Bubba's is a block away from the new, 5 acre Dowdy Park! There is a great playground for kids, basketball, bocce ball and pickle ball courts. In the summer, Dowdy has been home to a weekly farmers/artisans market.

In addition to this great new park - we are within walking distance to Tortuga's Lie, Lucky 12 Tavern, Galaxy Mini Golf, Morningview Coffee Shop, The Spot Ice Cream, Nags Head YMCA, Waveriders Deli and of course, the BEACH!

We had the most amazing stay. The house was immaculate and had literally anything you could need while on vacation. It was in a quiet neighborhood, just a block from the park and two blocks from the beach. The owners are top notch. Book it - you won't regret it!

We had a great stay at Pookie and Bubba's Cottage! Very clean and comfortable. The beds were super comfy! Everything you need is there and waiting. Location was perfect! Easy walk to the beach, mini golf and Food Lion. We really appreciated that everything in the house was labeled. Communication was great too! ould definitely stay here again and recommend to others!

Great stay near the beach and all amenities

We had a great spring break in the Outer Banks! This well appointed house is tucked away in a quiet location only a very short walk to the beach. It is also amazingly close to the grocery store, numerous restaurants and beach shops. We had great communication with the owner who was very responsive and clearly takes pride in ownership of this lovely home. We didn’t need to bring a thing besides our clothes, it was well stocked with towels, soap, shampoo and Kitchenware. Best of all, the house comes with membership privileges to the YMCA across the street which we used regularly since it was too cold to swim outside.

Comfortable, enjoyable, well taken care of

We went for a family vacation. Myself, my husband, my mother, two children (10&14) and our dog. The house was in an adorable neighborhood. We loved walking our dog to the park daily. The beach is walkable but we chose to drive. It was close enough that I could let my teen walk home if she was "beached out". The beds were the most comfortable! Especially the king upstairs. It was the most comfortable bed I have had in a rental and slept great. My other family members state the other beds were also very comfortable. The house was very clean and all the essentials were already there including metal dog bowls. The decks face west, which was lovely in the mornings so we could enjoy our morning coffee and not bake in the sun. The neighborhood was quiet. The host, Amanda, was easy to reach and answered all our questions. She was very compassionate when we had a tragic death in our family and needed to reschedule this trip. She worked with me to get everything figured out. We loved sitting at the large table and playing games in the evening. The location was great with easy to access restaurants, activities, and the beach. Thank you for the most wonderful, very much needed, relaxing vacation.

Clean and comfortable with all the amenities

This is a sparkling clean, cozy home and the owners have thought of everything to make your stay comfortable. It was such a pleasure to have linens and paper goods provided as well as the use of beach chairs. Keyless entry made check-in a breeze and the use of the YMCA was clutch when Tropical Storm Debbie wrecked our beach time. We loved being able to bring our pup with us! Can’t say enough about this great place and Amanda is wonderful as a property manager.

Clean and convenient

This house was very clean, well stocked, and comfortable. The location is truly an easy walk to the beach, as well as walkable to some places to eat and the park. Super quick drive to get to Jockeys Ridge, Wright Brothers Memorial, Lost Colony, and more. We really appreciated howquiet the street was as it is not a through street.

Wonderful home

This home, located on a quiet cul-de-sac, was the perfect size for our family's stay and was well equipped with everything we needed. The supplies available were an added bonus. The porch, decks and area below the house were great gathering places and also great for "alone time". The beds were ultra comfortable, and we all slept well. The home was centrally located to the beach, eateries and shopping. Communication was excellent and our questions before and after our stay were answered promptly. I would absolutely recommend this home to others for a quiet getaway.

Wonderful Stay

Our family loved this house. It’s extremely convenient and well-stocked with everything you need. Our Golden Doodle was very relaxed here and enjoyed seeing so many other dogs on the beach. We will return!

Cozy home/ Pleasant neighborhood

Very nice location, dead end street. The home was very nice,had a large yard area for my dog and kids to play. The carport area had nice lighting and seating. Great place to enjoy your vacation

Great location for a low key family trip to OBX

Location was fantastic even though not directly on the beach—our young kids happily walked the short distance to the beach and back and it was nice not to have to cross any significantly busy roads to do so. Bonus that the closest beach access was guarded and had bathrooms, showers, and changing rooms, as well as a decent surf break (there were frequently surfing lessons nearby) and boogie boarding break. There were often open parking spaces at the beach access as well, but we walked every time. The house felt well-loved and well-cared for and has a lot of character—our young kids loved making up stories about the fish and waterfowl on the walls. The kitchen had all of the basic necessities and comforts. Outdoor shower was perfect for rinsing off the kids on the way home from a day in the sand. The street was quiet and a dead end, so no through traffic/traffic noise to worry about—felt very safe to let our kids play out in the yard. A few nearby restaurants, coffee shop, ice cream, and grocery store—even a cute little mini golf course on the way to the beach. Property manager was helpful and very easy to communicate with. As a family of six we may outgrow the space as our kids get older (house has 2 queen beds and one king bed), but we would happily return until then! Thank you for a wonderful, relaxing OBX vacation!

Great Property

From beginning to end, this was an awesome VRBO experience. Our host, Amanda, was awesome. She contacted me a few days before the trip, during the trip, and after the trip. The home far exceeded our expectations. My favorite part of the home was the sunroom, but the outdoor shower and living space below the cottage was a great place to relax as well. We took our 9.5 year old Yorkie poo and he had an amazing time as well. The outdoor shower was perfect, as we could clean him off before bringing him back inside! 10 out of 10 stars!!

The home was immaculately clean. Everything one could possibly need and more was there for us! Not a single detail was forgotten. Amanda was wonderful throughout the entire process. Beach was a short walk away. My family had the best vacation ever! Book it~you won’t regret it!

Nags Head Cottage

This cottage met all my expectations. So clean, beds very comfortable, everything you need and outdoor space is fantastic😊It is easy to walk to the beach. Lots of nice restaurants and shopping options. would definitely stay here again. Owners are easy to contact and they really want you to enjoy your stay.

Amazing place! Recommend!! We loved it!

This place was super fun and amazing location to the beach, the store and the park. We loved dating here. It was super clean, the manager was super nice and welcoming and we had no issues at all. I loved all the outside seating (take your picks there are at least 4 places to sit outside) and great amenities. Fun beach stuff provided and games and puzzles. The bedding was comfortable and beds were a dream. Many nights I went to bed hearing rain and woke up with birds chirping !!! Absolutely reccomend and can't wait to come back. With a wagon, we were able to walk to the beach everyday and loved all the reccomendations provided. Thanks for a great time!
