"The Salty Turtle" may be just the home away from home you are looking for! This Pup Friendly home consists of 1900 sq ft of balconies, peek-a-boo views, and adventures galore! The home's prime location, included amenities and beach proximity will make spending your time beach-combing and sun-seeking an Ocean BREEZE!

Pleasure Island (Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, and Fort Fisher) has become a RAPIDLY increasing vacation (and full-time!) destination for the East coast and beyond for many reasons. It’s a family-oriented beach with a touch of everything one might be looking for! It’s an AMAZING place to visit, live, and never leave! The home is on the North End of Carolina Beach and a short ride or long walk to downtown and everything that it has to offer. In Carolina Beach you’ve got the boardwalk, restaurants, and local shops of all kinds. If you like adventures, the marina is also there where you can take an offshore fishing trip, diving excursion, or party boat out for a sunset sail. Camping more your thing? Bring the 4X4 and drive (and camp) on the beach at Freeman Park, located on the North End of the island.

"The Salty Turtle" is a three level 1900 sq ft home that has something for everyone! The ground floor greets you with parking for 3, a private shower stall that's perfect for rinsing off the sand you've picked up from the beach, and a storage area with a few beach accessories that our amazing owner has left.

The entry to this 4 bed, 4 both home take you up the staircase to first floor which boasts two bedrooms (one with its own private balcony - #1 & #2), a guest bathroom (#1), and a private laundry. Every level has one or MULTIPLE large outdoor balconies, decks, and sitting areas with incredible local neighbor or peek-a-boo Atlantic ocean views.

The second floor boasts an open dining area, breakfast bar, kitchen, and living room. Peek-a-boo Atlantic views from the deck and canal views await those looking for a small reminder of what awaits right up the block! The half (#2) bath sits just past the end of the kitchen. A few of the amenities provided by your Owners include courtesy Eco Amenities travel size organic soap/shampoo/lotions and large Aussie shampoo and conditioner are left in the bathroom of each bath as well. Also, a roll of TP in each bathroom, 1 roll of PT in the kitchen, 2 garbage bags per garbage, laundry pods, dishwasher pods, dryer sheets, hand soap, dish soap, a sponge, Cafe' Bustelo, Tazo Tea, and pure cane sugar in each kitchen. Additional items are likely on sight as well!

The third floor brings you up to a pair of master bedrooms (#3 & #4). Each has it's own private balcony with respective views, breezes, and vantage points of Pleasure Island. The unit's THREE (3) QUEEN and ONE (1) FULL + TWIN bunk consists of either a plush luxury mattress or a new encased 8” memory foam/cooling gel composition mattress because we want all of our guests to be comfortable when it comes time to recharge.

Neighborhood description

Pleasure Island is a coastal barrier island in Southeastern North Carolina, USA just south of the City of Wilmington. Pleasure Island is located within Federal Point Township, in New Hanover County. The coastal resort towns of Carolina Beach and Kure Beach, as well as the annexed communities of Wilmington Beach and Hanby Beach are located on the island.

The home itself is short ride or long walk from Downtown Carolina Beach with its shops, activities and dining. There are fireworks during the summer every Thursday night, Movies at the lake each Sunday night, and local fairs around the lake each Saturday morning. Carolina Beach is a mix of friendly locals, snowbirds, and vacationers all looking to escape the inland and enjoy the sand, surf, and sun.

Carolina Beach and the surrounding neighborhoods offer an array of sights and activities to enjoy while here. Some examples are a subtle beach hike through Carolina Beach State Park, Fishing on the Kure Beach Pier, kayaking to one of the many islands surrounding the Intracoastal Waterway, watching canons blast during a historical reenactment at the Fort Fisher State Historic Site, or petting some Sting Rays at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher. This doesn’t even include the awing scenery of Airlie Gardens, and our very own battleship (USS NC) in Wilmington! Perhaps more relaxing and less “adventure” is your speed? Our own local Brewery (Good Hops) along with a round of Frisbee golf may be what the doctor ordered!

Getting around

There isn’t anywhere or anything on our Island that isn’t accessible with foot power. Downtown Carolina Beach has a number of vendors (such as Pleasure Island Rentals @ 2 N Lake Park Blvd Carolina Beach NC 28428 (golf carts) and Tony Silvagni’s Surf School @ 107 Charlotte ave Carolina Beach NC 28428 (bicycles, paddleboards, surfboards, kayaks) for rent as an alternative to walking or driving. Taxi’s (local golf cart taxi’s) and Uber’s are also generally available for an assist when needed as well throughout the island! You can catch a Ferry to Southport in Kure Beach @ 2422 Fort Fisher Blvd S Kure Beach which leads to another ferry to Bald Head Island where NO CARS are allowed at all!

After all, you won’t catch many locals going OTB! (Over The Bridge). Everything you need is right here!

Guest access

The HOME: Guests have full access to their own private HOME (never shared) along with a respective deck, patio, or balcony.

PARKING: Each reservation will have access to (3) THREE assigned carport parking spaces (depending upon vehicle size). 2 under the carport, and 1 to the right on the gravel.

•Closest BEACH access: Periwinkle Public Beach Access (Periwinkle Lane).
Interaction with guests

I will be available for check-in and general assistance until 8PM EST. Anything with the exception of an emergency (ie. flood, fire, or another *safety* related risk sent to Maintenance) will be responded to ASAP the following day.

Our partners include the Tony Silvagni Surf School for professional surf lessons, bicycle, umbrella and chair rentals, Hot Ticket Fishing Charters, Salty Dog Yoga, Beachside Express Services, Amy’s Rise N Shine, and Griffin Cleaning and linens. •Linens (sheets, bath towels, beach towels, wash cloths, floor towels, pillowcases, etc.) along with pillows and a summer comforter ARE included in your suite rental! Prior to departure, please assist our linen team by beginning a load before hitting to road!

Carolina Beach

•The Town of Carolina Beach offers multiple public parking options to visitors and residents on a FIRST COME-FIRST SERVE basis. Town-operated parking is open year round and paid parking is enforced March 1st - October 31st from 9AM - 8PM. Parking fees restart each morning during enforcement hours for all of the Town's parking lots and on-street parking spaces.

•ALL suites are non-smoking (including vaping) and a heavy cleaning/repair charge can result if not adhered to. This includes porches, decks, balconies, and walkways. Please smoke well away from any SWRE property unless willing to risk the potential loss of deposit or more.

•NO BBQing on ANY decks or porches. This is a huge fire hazard and is fineable by the town (as is removing batteries from any smoke or co2 alarms).

•There is a $100 non-refundable pet fee for one approved pup and a $50 pup fee for a second. There is a two-dog maximum unless an exception is granted. Cats are not allowed on premises.

•April 1st through September 30th, dogs are allowed on the Carolina Beach during restricted hours of BEFORE 9:00 am and AFTER 5:00 pm. On the extreme North End of Carolina Beach, dogs are allowed on leash 24/7 on leash. In Kure Beach, dogs are NOT allowed at any juncture. Fort Fisher allows dogs on leash on the beach 24/7. Please be responsible to follow all town pet ordinances and have an awareness as to which beach you are on at all times!

Pup rules for Pet Friendly homes

•Any interactions between your furry son or daughter and other neighbors (animal OR human) are completely at your discretion (and *liability). Please be a responsible pup owner and protect yourselves and others as may be necessary!
•Pups are NEVER allowed on any furniture. (*Single biggest added charge from the cleaners/owners post stay.)
•Do NOT let your pup bark excessively in any multi-unit environment.
•ALWAYS pick up after your pup IMMEDIATELY after the potty sesh.
•If maintenance needs to visit, ENSURE your pup is put in their respective kennels. This coincides with rule #1.
•If the home/apartment has an outdoor shower, please use it to rinse off your pup after a day of fun. Not only will that help to prevent a potential plumbing call (typically pup hair: that would fall to the guest to remedy $), but a clean pup is much less likely to result in a post stay hygiene charge (sand+salt+stinky can =$).
