Camp Amherst: Ski and Lakeside Retreat. Killington/Okemo, Firepit, private dock!

Our newly renovated lakeside "camp" is the perfect place for an active yet relaxing Summer/Fall getaway or a fun-filled Winter retreat! In this area, a "camp" is typically a minimalistic 3-season dwelling, but since its renovation the property is a "camp" no longer! Although it still has a private and secluded vibe, it is anything but minimalistic. The renovations focused on a clean, modern design with particular attention to highlighting the beauty of the lake itself. Numerous windows/sliders on all three floors give breathtaking views of the lake, and during the warmer months you have a private dock for fishing, swimming, kayaking and lounging. As an added bonus, Camp Plymouth State Park is only one mile away and has a beach, playground and water activities. Winter months are just as fabulous, with Killington and Okemo resorts nearly equidistant from the house. If skiing and riding aren't your thing, snowmobiling and snowshoeing are other popular activities that are readily available. Don't forget that a firepit during any season is the perfect night cap!

This is a very special place and we hope you can enjoy it as much as we do! It is a mix of modern luxuries and "camp" vibes of days past. There is something for everyone at the Amherst Ski and Lakeside Retreat!

Wonderful stay in Okemo

This property was beautiful and in a great location. Secluded and located in beautiful setting on the lake yet only 12-13 minutes ride to okemo mt. The property is clean and new and extremely comfortable and the owner is very responsive and easy to get in touch. We truly enjoyed our Vermont winter vacation.

Wonderful stay!

My family and I had a great stay at Jess's home. It is located in the beautiful woods on a lake, and it's incredibly peaceful. Jess was an excellent host and communicator. The property is extremely clean, had everything that you would need, beautiful woodwork/carpentry, and well laid out. We skied at Killington, and the trip was easy to the base lodge. I highly recommend. Thank you, Jess!

Great House close to Okemo

Relaxing retreat!

The lake house is beautiful! Very comfortable and spacious with many amenities. The host is incredibly attentive. We enjoyed fishing, kayaking and swimming. It was a great spot!

Great house and great location

This was a terrific place to stay. The house was super clean, well stocked (including a few extras), and perfect for our crew of 5 people. The teens liked how close it was to Killington and Okemo. The adults liked proximity to Woodstock, Quechee and King Arthur. The house had a great view of the lake. There is a nice little hiking trail at the park down the road. Hosts were nice and responsive. It was perfect.

Ski trip with family

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay during a ski vacation to Okemo. The lake house made our stay that much more enjoyable with a beautiful lake front location and amazing amenities! The house was clean and beautifully furnished. Would highly recommend this house!!

October Escape

We spent a few days catching up with a friend from California in this beautiful home. Home is fresh, new and clean with a great setting on a lake with dock. Nicely outfitted kitchen has everything you likely need. Comfortable beds/bedrooms and nice bathrooms. Host was very accommodating and accessible. Obviously, we highly recommend this home.

Fall Getaway

We made a quick fall getaway to take in the colors. The property is beautiful, the house is spotless and had everything we could ever need. Jesse is a great host and was quick to respond to our queries. We would highly recommend her place and would consider a trip back next year!

Had a Wonderful Stay

We had a great time during this stay. The house was clean and comfortable. We really appreciated how well-stocked it was and that we didn’t have to bring a lot from home (like linens, towels, etc.) Great cookware and kitchen supplies. We didn’t feel there was anything missing. The homeowner was super helpful and friendly. The kids (teens) had a great time fishing and boating. Highly recommend.

Holiday weekend

This home had everything we needed to cook all our meals, enjoy the beautiful nature, have fun and relax. Highlights were being able to kayak easily from the house and play ping pong! The linens and kitchen supplies were too notch. We loved our time here!!

Wonderful week on Amherst Lake

The house is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped and the appliances are top notch and new. The entire house is immaculate. The beds are comfortable and 3 bathrooms worked out perfectly for us. The host is very pleasant and answers any and all questions very quickly. We had fun on the lake, took a day hike in Plymouth, spent time in Woodstock and went golfing on a nearby golf course. Our family would love to return to this beautiful home.

Great winter holiday!

We had a great time at Camp Amherst with my wife and family of three. There was lots to do with the house and it was a short 20 minute drive to Killington where we snowboarded every day. The host was more than gracious as we accidentally had put a hole in the wall, but we were able to amicably settle this quickly. She was always available and communicating throughout our stay. I would highly recommend this property and plan to go back if we ever want to spend another week at Killington

Perfect Ski Getawat

The space was large and plentiful. We made many memories in the kitchen cooking up warm meals after a day on the slopes. Kitchen is bare (only salt pepp and EVOO), so bring everything you need for spices. 15 minute easy drive from killington. Waking up to a snow covered lake every morning was majestic. NO HOT TUB.

short end of summer vacation

House is immaculate. beautifully redone. Did not use the lake or kayaks so can not comment on that. Convenient for the hiking and golf we wanted to do. Only comment, and nothing against the house. Like many ski areas, food choices are limited and not the most healthful. Should have gone into Woodstock more for dining

Family Lake Retreat

Jess and Paul were amazing hosts. They were super responsive and accommodating before we even arrived and went above and beyond to offer recommendations for activities our family would enjoy in the area. And they attended to and resolved any questions immediately when they arose. As for their home…it is beautifully and thoughtfully remodeled with really nice appliances and fixtures. Beds and furniture were comfy and spotless. The main level is surrounded by windows, so natural light and views of the woods and lake are everywhere, and truly give you the feel that you are away from it all. Sure, you have to drive 15 minutes to the nearest grocery store. But the drive is beautiful and allows you to get out, explore and get to know the area. Our kids loved fishing right off the private dock. And another gem was the small state park beach just a mile down the road where you can rent paddle boats, canoes, kayaks and SUPs for use on the adjacent Echo Lake. We felt so comfortable in this home and were sad to leave. It’s a special little spot.

It is such a special place that I have fallen in love with! My family and I are happiest when we are surrounded by mountains, lakes, and friendly people. I love being a host because I get to help others experience this truly special place

It's directly on the lake, it's serene, and there are two options for skiing/riding within 15 minutes. It's the perfect location!

The property is newly renovated and has such an amazing feel. It was designed by my husband, who is a seasoned veteran of custom interior woodworking. The attention to detail cannot be ignored. You will notice his personal touch in everything from the beautiful stairways to the reclaimed wood that is sprinkled throughout the house. He paid special attention to highlighting the beauty of the lake by creating stunning views of Amherst on all three levels of the house. In addition, just being on the lake, nestled in between the mountains is about the best you can get. After a day on the lake or slopes you can relax around the firepit or just soak in the peaceful sounds of nature. You are absolutely going to fall in love with this property!
