The lake view was nice, and the host were very friendly. The home is a little dated but was fine for our purpose. Plenty of space for hanging out.

My stay was a wonderful place to unwind and enjoy life. I had stressful family business in Dallas (not far away) that had to be done but all my burdens seemed to melt away when I returned to Mallard's Mist. It's easy to unwind when you pull in the drive and there is a beautiful heard of deer.
The property is very nicely maintained and the deer come and dust and dawn.
I counted 15 or 16 deer.
They are so curious, they come right up to you, as long as you don't make any sudden movements.
If you do spook them they move very fast.

The Perfect Getaway—A Hidden Gem on the Lake!Our stay at this charming, older lake house was nothing short of amazing. We had a group of 8 older teens and adults, plus one energetic 3-year-old—and not a single complaint from anyone the entire time (which says everything).From the moment we arrived, the cozy, homey feel of the house made us feel like we were staying at a beloved family retreat. We swam, caught fish, ran barefoot through the soft green grass, and stretched out under the sun with nothing but the sounds of nature around us.But more than anything, this was the perfect place to unwind. No pressure, no rush—just space to relax, reconnect, and enjoy each other’s company. It’s rare to find a place that keeps every age group happy, but this lake house truly delivered. We’re already talking about when we can come back!

Refreshing Relaxing Retreat Home

The communication was clear and timely from the moment I inquired about the home through our arrival. The property is even more beautiful in person than in the photos, and it can very comfortably sleep 10 people if needed. The kitchen and bathrooms were fully equipped with everything we needed—even a bag of charcoal was provided!The view was serene, and the peace and quiet were exactly what we needed. If you're driving, be aware that we saw many deer (Bambi sightings!) both during the day and at night. It's important to drive slowly and stay alert—we truly enjoyed seeing them up close.The host met us at check-in, and the door uses a keycode, which made things even more convenient. We were in town for a family reunion, and this home was the perfect retreat after spending time with loved ones.

Awesome property!

Had so much fun, the hosts are great and so friendly. House is cute and has everything you need. We had a relaxing time fishing and tanning. Definitely will stay again.

Tranquility

Had an amazing weekend, was not used to spring mattress beds but the peacefulness of the entire area made up for it. If your looking to get away from the noises of the city i would definitely recommend sraying here. The lake behind the house only gets about waste deep, perfect for kids to splash and play in. Once you get out past the boat docks it gets deeper. We enjoyed seeing all the Mallard Ducks, the few deer we seen at night right out by the water.

Beautiful & quiet.

We came to this area for 3 graduation. We got to fish one morning & that was a lot of fun too. The host was so nice & the property was beautiful! We enjoyed our stay & hope to return soon.

Diamond in the sand

Such a beautiful lake, the 4th largest in Texas. The property is right on the lake. Spacious lawns offer tranquility. Wonderful lanes and streets for walks or bike rides. Lots of room for our 5 family members to hang out. Plenty of amenities for a large group. The local restaurants are better than expected for a small town. Pretty special place. We definitely tagged this one as a "return place "

Perfect for familys with little kids

The property is safe and perfect for adults and littles. The walk up beach front is perfect for everyone to easily get in and out of the water. Fishing was great at night even while it was hot. Plenty of shade all in the back and great ac in the housem

Our Favorite Lake House!

We have been coming here now 7 out of the last 8 years for the 4th of July. Can’t express how much we love it here, the house is right on the water and able to walk right in. The yard is always kept up and the trees provide great shade during the day. We have been out here with anywhere from 4-10 people and never felt crowded. Jon is always very attentive and deals with anything that comes up very quickly. We highly recommend staying at the Mallard Mist!!

The Mallard Mist.

This place was truly amazing next to the lake. The home was clean, every needed was there, towels dish cloths, dishes were well stocked as well as cookware. The children really loved it because they could swim in the lake everyday. Our host was nice and explained everything we needed to know. We decided that we would love to come back another time. I recommend this rental to anyone wanting to stay on the lake.

My husband and his two long time friends stayed in this wonderful house for a “guys” fishing and golf trip. They had only positive things to say about the house and its awesome patio view of the lake. They will gladly stay there again, and I’m considering a girls trip there as well. They recommend it highly.

Peaceful, on water, views but safe from boat, pwc traffic, only 5 min from all services but you feel totally away from town. Can sit on deck and watch kids play, swim in shallow water or join them in the large protected cove. No road traffic. Safe for kids, walking, pets.
