The Refuge at Laurel

Enjoy a cozy mountain getaway located in the heart of Nelson County. Perfect for couples, friends, or singles, the Refuge at Laurel is 25 minutes from Charlottesville and a short drive to the wineries, breweries, distilleries, and orchards on Route 151. Take a hike through the mountains on the many trails bordering the George Washington National Forest. Or, work from the home office with included fiber Internet.
The space
The Refuge has a mid-century "mountain" design with vintage furniture mixed with high-tech upgrades such as a smart thermostat.
Guest access
Guests have full access to the large fenced-in yard and adjoining workshop (parking is permissible in the workshop).

Amazing Wilderness Retreat

My mom and I used this place as a home base as we explored around Charlottesville and Lynchburg, it was perfect! Remote and relaxing with all the amenities we could want. Rebecca was super responsive and helped us have an amazing stay!

The Refuge is such a wonderful place.! It was perfect for us. The location is quiet and peaceful. We had a few late afternoon showers and it was fun sitting on the front porch and enjoying the summer run. The back yard is huge with a great fire pit. I can't wait to go back!

Great out of the way place for a couple or small families. The kitchen is stocked with all the utensils and cookware to make any meal from breakfast to dinner. The fenced in, sizeable yard is a great amenity for those with dogs.Finally, the night sky is phenominal. You can clearly see many stars and constellations without light pollution. Great for stargazing.

Peaceful lovely getaway

What a treasure to find this Nelson County gem! It was the perfect spot to enjoy the peaceful outdoors in a charming cottage. So much bigger on the inside than it looks - and such a nice renovation. We found a GREAT Refuge at Laurel !

After a beautiful drive through the mountains, we arrived at our Refuge at Laurel. It is perfectly located between Charlottesville & Lynchburg making our visit to historic sites in Virginia easy. Then we got to return to the PEACE & QUIET found at The Refuge. Well stocked with everything one needs inside, there's the beautiful grounds that surround it. Great communication from our Host, this is definitely a place we will look forward to visiting again !

My wonderful getaway

We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay in your beautiful little cabin. Just the 2 of us enjoyed our meals and restful evenings at the cabin. Loved the swing on the front porch. Kitchen was well stocked, even Emeril cookware! Surrounding area is quiet and beautiful. Thank you.

A lovely getaway

Absolutely loved being in the middle of nowhere for a long weekend with a friend. Appreciated the fully stocked kitchen and bathroom. There were plenty of extra blankets if needed. Her directions were straight and to the point. Would definitely stay here again. :)
