The Star of the West is an incredible oceanfront home able to accommodate a large group. Take in spectacular Atlantic views from the beachside covered porch or upper sun deck. Kitchen is fully equipped and stocked. Plenty of parking in the driveway & underneath the house. Close to downtown Folly Beach. Must be 25 years old or older to rent. Maximum occupancy of 20 guests cannot be exceeded, regardless of visiting or sleeping at the property. We hope to see you soon!

Great place for a extended family vacation. We really enjoyed it with our children and grandchildren. Great location with 10 minute walk to restarants and the pier.

Family funeral

We had 18 family members from all over the country travel for a family funeral. This was a wonderful house to gather and connect. Everything was as described and the owner let a guest check in early due to unexpected travel changes. Would definitely stay here again - very clean and right on the beach. If we had one suggestion it would be to have a few extra throw blankets in the closets for cold nights.

Really nice house with plenty of room to spread out. Several TVs.

I recommend this house. Close to the water even though it wasn't swimming weather, several folks rented wet suits and went in the water. Kitchen was well equipped. House was very clean. One problem with an oven was resolved as soon as it was reported. Several TVs so people could watch different shows. A nice room that accommodated the entire group when they gathered.

Beach Wedding

A small beach wedding of family and friends. The covered porch allowed us to still have the beach as apart of wedding as the temperature dropped. The house is beautiful and the property manager/owner was very responsive.

A Great Stay

It was a wonderful place for a family vacation. We enjoyed the porch and the views immensely. The two washer and dryers and three refrigerators were a real plus for a large family. Gordon always answered promptly to any questions that we had. On the downside, we were surprised at the lack of an adequate supply of dishwashing detergent, soap, paper towels to begin the vacation. Otherwise we have no complaints. It was a great stay!

Great time in great location

The house was just perfect. The rooms, the amenities, the cleanliness, towels and sheets, access to the beach, parking, and everything else were just perfect. My only advice to the homeowner would be to have hand soap available at all sinks. We had to buy 8 hand soap bottles, one for each sink. Also, have some extra toilet paper (more than the 2 provided per the bathroom) available somewhere in the house, in case of long stays. We stayed for three nights and needed to buy toilet paper.

The best New Year’s Eve stay

We had a great time during our stay. Plenty of room for all of us and very close to Folly’s Main Street and pier (fire works). Will be coming back!

Beautiful stay at Folly

This house was perfect for getting old friends together for a wedding in town. Highly recommend! Perfect location, plenty of rooms, very well equipped kitchen.

Beautiful Home

Beautiful home with lots of charm. Loved the location and easy access to the beach. Ocean views were amazing! The only downside was that some of the mattresses needed to be updated.

Exactly what we needed

It is perfect for when you get a large number of family and friends for a wedding. Everyone had plenty of room. The home was perfectly designed for this type of funtion with bedrooms to the rear and the two large rooms facing the ocean. And just a short drive to the Island House and local restaurants

Family Gathering

House was as advertised. Loads of space. No one felt cramped or on top of each other. Beach access great. Definitely a repeat rental.

Magical Wedding

My husband and I got married on the beach and had a reception in the house. It was a magical experience. All the guests loved the house! My family and I loved staying there before and after the event. Plenty of space and very functional for large groups!!

great beachfront house

We have stayed here several times. One of the best beach front rentals on West Ashley. The house has been updated with some new furniture. One of the ovens does not work. Overall, a great trip and we will stay here again.

Fantastic view and great layout for a large group

Loved the gorgeous views from the living areas and easy beach access. Kitchen was fabulous for cooking for a group and well-stocked with pots/pans etc. Bedrooms and baths were comfortable and everything was as promised. Great location on the water and walking distance to "downtown" Folly Beach. The house and furtnishings are a little worn and there was some water damage when we were there in the ceiling. I think they were planning to do some work on the house this winter. We did not mind because everything was functional and it fealt like a real family beach house, not a sterile model.

Great family time

Nice, roomy house for family gathering. Great location. Home needs some TLC. Some sliding doors did not lock. Overall cleanliness not the greatest. Carpets and kitchen cabinets need good cleaning. Overall nice home and had great family time.

Great property and location

I was very pleased with our stay. The house is large enough for a large group to spend time together but also enough room to get a little piece and quiet when needed. There was some water damage that I’m sure it will be fixed and I’m glad my booking was not canceled because of it.

Great location, place needs some work

This house is right on the beach and about 1/2 mile from downtown. Plenty of room for large groups. Our group was 9 adults. We spent a lot of time on the deck and on the beach and enjoyed it very much. We had rented a car which was helpful to drive to the grocery store a little off of the island as it was much cheaper. The downtown restaurants were all wonderful. We had an issue with the house itself. The toilets need to be reset as they all rock. There was a water leak patched in the kitchen ceiling upon our arrival. On our 2nd day the ceiling started leaking and it fell down to expose a plastic container in the ceiling full of water and mold. It made a huge mess and was gross. This was obviously a known issue that was not taken care of right away, simply just a previous patch fix. The property management was contacted and sent someone out right away. He just placed the container back up, screwed a piece of wood up and left. He did clean up but we had to vacuum and sweep as there was drywall dust everywhere. It put a big damper in our day. It just spoke very poorly of their property management company. We were given one roll of toilet paper per bathroom. For extended stays you will have to buy more which was an inconvenience to us and the first time we ran across this with a rental. We were also given a credit for a rental agency for beach supplies. Because we didn’t book until we got there, we were charged a late schedule fee which was annoying and odd. That has no bearing on the property, just a heads up for others. Overall, we had a wonderful time, even with the issues we had.
