OBX Family Trip 2024

The Salty Piper is very conveniently located near the beach. There is a wooden walkway that starts at the car port and goes directly to the beach. It is also very close to shopping and Harris Teeter. We had a great time in this house and it fit 2 adults and 4 kids perfectly. The only complaint I have is that the kitchen is a tad small. Really only enough room for one person in there at a time or it gets cramped. However, the kitchen was very well stocked with utensils and cookware. We enjoyed staying here!

The house have everything we need and is not far from the beach. - just down the boardwalk and the stairs across the dunes. We like the key-less entry and the instant entry at 4:00. The beds were made and the linens in place.

Paradise vacation at The Salty Piper

We have finally found our forever house after coming to the OBX 9 times in 15 years. It is close to the beach, boardwalk right behind the house is awesome, pet friendly, sleeps our family well, lovely kitchen. We have already booked this house for next year same time. Looking forward to it already. Thank you so much for opening up your home to people needing a respite at the ocean.

Salty Piper was a Hit!

Reviewer Comments: My family and I had a wonderful time staying here in June of 2023; we were pretty nervous about going on our first vacation with a young baby but a comfortable, clean and conveniently located home base made the trip a big success.Location a quick walk from a fairly quiet beach was great; but also don't underestimate the benefit of being right around the corner from Harris Teeter (and Duck Donuts!). Amenities were great, especially the swing and hammock to hang out on the deck. Cleaning crew did an amazing job and the home was spotless when we arrived. My one quibble was the wifi was a bit unstable and occasionally had some issues.

Our Anuual Week at OBX

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We are repeat renters at Cs By The Sea. and the house if one of our favorites we have ever stayed in. It is well laid out, well furnished, and within a convenient distance of the beach - just down the boardwalk and over the dune. We did have an issue this year that we reported and was promised it would be taken care of - which it was not. I even reported it again at checkout, but received no response. An apology or acknowledgement of some kind would have been nice. We have already reserved our week for next year.

Funky layout- but lovely home

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The layout of the house is funky- 1 king upstairs and 3 bedrooms downstairs- one of which is the second king. The modern renovations are nice and the house decor is lovely- but the layout is not necessarily convenient for 2 families with young children. Some of the spaces were tight- like the kitchen and the bathrooms. But overall lovely home. Absolutely love the location and proximity to the private walkway access to the beach. Soo easy with toddlers. Nice quiet neighborhood, very close to harris teeter and nearby stores. I would rent again- but prob for one family- not two families with young children. Keys were easy to pick up from after hours mailbox and the whole online rental process was easy. The staff answered my emails within 24 hrs- everything was easy.

Nice place, poor communication

The house is lovely and was just right for our needs. Convenient access (with many stairs) to the beach. We were disappointed that the "ocean view" was completely blocked by numerous houses. Communication was very confusing and frustrating. I booked through VRBO, but I was supposed to download the Beach Realty app for all instructions - and the app wouldn't download to my phone. One set of emailed instructions said to stop first at their office before getting to the property, whereas another said we would get emailed our keycode. There were 2 phone numbers. The disposal wasn't working and after 3 phone calls, I found a form to download for maintenance. (The disposal was fixed within one day, which was great.) My final complaint is that I called the Corolla office to ask if the home had beach chairs - because some reviews said it did. The very nice person told me there were no chairs - unless previous guests had left them. So, we rented chairs. When we arrived, we saw, in the parking area, a large accessible storage unit with " BEACH CHAIRS" clearly written on the front. I thought, through VRBO, I'd be communicating with the owner. I would not rent from a corporation managed VRBO again.

The perfect house!

The layout of adult and kid bedrooms, the beautiful beach decor, and the easy beach access was just amazing. This is the first time in over 20 years of coming to the OBX as an adult that I felt like the house had exactly what I needed - everything in the kitchen, a nice hose/outside area for cleaning off our dog and kids, chairs and beach toys, a basketball hoop, a comfy couch for hanging out, games for the family to play, a beautiful deck with comfy chairs. the list goes on and on. Considering this is a dog friendly house, this was the LOVELIEST house I've ever stayed in - so well maintained. My whole family kept saying how much we loved this house. Thanks for a wonderful trip!

Family Vacation

This house was amazing. Exactly as pictured in the photos. It also had EVERYTHING you can think of. The distance to the beach couldn’t be beat. We really enjoyed our stay. Though dog friendly, there was no place for our dog to do it’s business outside without walking a bit away from the house. There was also a ton of tall grass with little spikes at the tip that would get stuck on our dog or even us if we got too close, they hurt to remove. So just need to keep an eye out for them. The couch in the living room was totally collapsed and has seen it’s day. None of us would really even sit it on it cause you just caved in. But to be honest it wouldn’t deter me from renting again, the house is just that great. Over all we really really enjoyed our stay and hope to come back to OBX soon!

Another Wonderful Beach Week!

Reviewer Comments: We have stayed at the Salty Piper (formerly C's by the Sea) for quite a few years, and we have already made our reservations for next year! The house is very nice, comfortable, and close to the beach, just a walk down the boardwalk and the stairs over the dunes. The house is well maintained and stocked. It's a nice peaceful neighborhood. It's our home away from home for one glorious week a year. We have stayed in several rentals in the same vicinity and the Salty Piper is the best for our needs!

Meeting in the middle; NC meets Virginia

We appreciated the ability to be able to bring our dogs and loved that there were dog couch covers provided. The effort that the owner took to make their home inviting and comfortable was evident. The access ( boardwalk) to the beach was great. My suggestion for a future upgrade would be a gas-grill. We were disappointed with the management company that the linens we ordered were not there upon our arrival. It was so late when we arrived we had no other choice , but to sleep on our beach towels. When I called the next Am they were apologetic, but refused to offer any discount for the linens mistake; stating “ it does not work that way”. I decided to get a refund and drove 30 mins. to Walmart to buy linens. Other than that inconvenience our stay was lovely.

What a great place to stay

The ONLY thing that was difficult were the stairs and we knew that before going we just thought(my mom and Larry) they would be able to get up better. They are elderly and it was quite difficult for them. But, what a great house to stay in!! Our family had the best time in Corolla (first timers on the Outer Banks)!! Would defiantly use Beach Realty again!!!

It is such a short walk on the boardwalk and over the dune to the ocean. The house is well appointed and well maintained. It has everything we need. The only thing I would have changed this year is a new comforter in the upstairs master bedroom. Beach Realty is a great company to rent from as well.
