NEW CENTRAL AIR CONDITIONING! Imagine waking up on Water Island and walking onto your deck looking over Honeymoon Beach and onto the Caribbean Sea. Stroll 5 minutes down to the beach and to one of the best beach bars in the Virgin Islands. Spend the day snorkeling with sea turtles, lounging under palms trees or jump into a game of beach tennis, volley ball or pickle ball. Rent a golf cart for your stay and explore our little 500 acre island and you will feel like you have just stepped back into time. Swing by the kid friendly crossings for a crushed ice, local art or grab a beer. Next head over to Heidi's for the best fish tacos in the USVI. Our cottage has an expansive Living Room with incredible views, open kitchen with newer gas stove & stainless steel fridge and great deck. Each Bedroom has a simple full bath w/ shower. 1st bedroom has queen memory foam mattress, in suite bath and new mini split AC. 2nd bedroom has a king memory foam mattress, adjacent full bath and new mini split AC. We highly recommend renting a golf cart online from Rachel’s Rentals. If your looking for luxury this is not the house for you; but if you’re ready to disappear into our tropical hideout then come be our guest.

Our stay was unforgettable from beginning to end. If you’re looking for a low-key, relaxing, snorkeling filled vacation look no further. Water island is the smallest of the four US Virgin Islands, yet no cruise ships port on the island making it the most tranquil paradise. Only golf carts so no traffic either. No better way to decompress! First and foremost the property manager, Sylvie was second to none-she made our stay extra memorable with her guided tours and art classes for the kiddos. It’s a one stop shop here!!

Water Island Gem

This property is perfectly located near the Honeymoon Beach and Dinghy’s Bar. The property management and owner were amazingly helpful in every aspect of my stay. Finally the people of Water island were so nice that it made my trip extra special.

Amazing location and Owner

Water Island is a unique Island, so make sure you are familiar with it first. This location offers some of the best views from the island. George is a great property manager and I would highly recommend!

This location on Water Island is excellent: 5 minute walk to Honeymoon Beach, and easy walks to other, less crowded beaches on the island. Tortoises galore, amazing snorkeling, hummingbirds, and cool breezes most every evening.As other reviews have said, this is not a resort stay. If you adjust your expectations to align with a rustic Caribbean vibe, you will be delighted. The space is great for up to four people, and bedrooms are decent sized. Bathrooms are small. The kitchen was well supplied with a surprisingly good gas stove. Sporadic wifi made TV use somewhat problematic. Water is sourced from a cistern. Conservation is critical.The in ground pool is very serviceable, but again, think rustic Caribbean. It offers a cool, convenient dip. It is not a great pool for very young children.The focus of our stay was quiet relaxation, so we were very content with the slow pace of this area. If you are looking for nightlife and lots of distractions, this rental will seem boring. If, however, you want to enjoy nature and the beach in peach and quiet, you will love it here.One of the highlights of our stay was interacting with Sylvie, the warm and incredibly helpful property manager. She lives on site, and was available to answer questions, address any issues that arose, and even offer personal snorkel tours and an amazing art workshop. She is also a professional chef who can be hired. I can't speak highly enough about her.

We understood not to expect “luxury” but didn’t think we’d be coming to an unfinished property. The home was seemingly still under construction, from unfinished doorways to gaps between ceilings and walls where many bugs including baby cockroaches would make their way in and out of. We also saw a huge water bug in the shower. The home didn’t have any cooking basics ie salt, pepper or oil, and we couldn’t justify buying that stuff for our short stay so we ate out all meals. Only decaf coffee provided. George was fairly unresponsive, sometimes for days at a time. A next door neighbor answered our questions by text. She showed up unexpectedly to drop off a can opener (that we didn’t ask for) at an inopportune time. The wifi is spotty and not listed in the home so we had to reach out and wait. We were not made aware until after booking of a VERY steep hill we had to walk up to get to the home, and being 5 months pregnant I really should’ve been alerted of this in advance.

One of our primary goals as hosts is to clearly set expectations through our listing and communication, and to ask the right questions to ensure our property is a good fit for each guest. We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback, as it helps us improve going forward. In reviewing our correspondence, we did recommend renting a golf cart, as transportation can greatly enhance a guest’s experience on Water Island. We understand you were only able to secure one for a single day. Access to a golf cart is especially important for mobility and ease of exploring the island, and we do wish we had been made aware of any mobility concerns in advance so we could better advise you. We also see that you were in contact with our on-site property manager during your stay while we were traveling remotely. We will follow up with her to ensure she more clearly introduces herself and her role to future guests. Water Island, while just minutes from St. Thomas, offers a uniquely remote and tropical experience—very much a getaway from suburban comforts. Many of our guests enjoy the natural surroundings, including the tortoises, hermit crabs, and ever-changing landscape around the home. With that natural environment, there are occasionally other elements of island living as well. Our pest control service treated the property prior to your arrival and returned for additional environmentally friendly treatment after you shared your concerns. As with most tropical environments, however, pests can reappear if food sources are left accessible. We appreciate your feedback and hope it helps future guests better understand the experience of staying on Water Island.

Great Start

Had a blast. Only problem is, WATER ISLAND needs to be put in imminent description. Had I been aware that this bed and breakfast was not located on the island of Saint Thomas, I could had planned better financial. If intended to stay in Water Island, 5 stars. Great, no complaints. But being on Water Island while intending to be in St Thomas bring extra hurdles into the equation. Not going into details as far as those. But it’s going to cost you extra. Which although, is met with hospitality… should be met more accountancy and accommodation unless clearly stated that this BnB is on Water Island.

Prime Water Island Location

My 5 star review is based on my expectations after talking to George, the owner, but this is not a 5 star property. Keep in mind the property is still undergoing improvements. We rented the main house and guest house beside it. The main house has a very large kitchen and living area so our family staying in the guest house joined the main house for meals. The property is at a perfect location for walking to beautiful Honeymoon Beach. From the house you get a view of the beach and blue water and the sound of the birds and tree frogs is so relaxing. Tortoises and hermit crabs in the yard add to the amazing ambience of Water Island. Beds were very comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. Remember it is an island property and water comes from a cistern so you should be respectful and conserve water. George was an amazing host who responded immediately to all of our questions and needs. If you're looking for luxury this isn't for you, but if you want a laid back island vibe you can't go wrong here.

Think rustic cabin

Overall, we had a wonderful stay. The island is interesting with various wildlife and having limited cars is a really nice change. The locals are all very friendly. A great place to get away and just relax. As for the property, our first impression was not good. There is limited furniture. There were no towels, many pillows didn't have slips. The one bedroom had a broken down plastic bin for an end table. The electrical is unfinished in both bathrooms. There was a new microwave and toaster oven but the hot plate didn't work at all and the stove barely worked. We did eventually get two burners to light. The exterior is not well kept with various building materials and trash laying around. The isn't really a local property owner so if it tricky to get help if you need it. There isn't a generator on the property. We didn't have an issue with that but would have been a major problem. However, once we adjusted our expectations to being more like upscale camping, we got along just fine. There was plenty of room. There is AC in both bedrooms but not the main room which didn't really need it. We were on the beach during the heat of the day and there are nice island breezes. The deck has a beautiful view overlooking honeymoon beach. You should definitely rent a golf cart and beach chairs from Rachaels. You can walk to the beach but it is down a big incline. Also part of the fun in exploring the island.

My wife and I have been hosting our vacation houses for over a decade. We love exploring the Caribbean and found water island a few years back for the perfect balance of US flights but a world away from life here in the states.

Por qué escogió este alojamiento

Stepping off the ferry on Water Island takes you to a different place in time. Golf carts are the mode of transportation and you rarely see a car. Living on an island of 500 acres and a population of about 180 is transformative.

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

Its hard to find a home with both an amazing view and easy proximity from the beach. The two bedroom two bath set up is perfect for couples, friends or a small family.
