About this space
This unique studio space with private entrance is a recent addition to our charming home, located on a quiet private road in the village of Shokan. Situated within minutes of the Ashokan Rail Trail, this bike and walking trail offers dramatic vistas of the Ashokan Reservoir.
Woodstock & Phoencia with their stores, galleries and restaurants are only 15 minute drives . Local recreation includes hiking trails, kayaking and for those looking for relaxation there are renowned spas.
The space
Oil paintings line the walls of this recently built self contained wing of a 1930's home. Guests have their own private entrance, full bathroom and patio deck with outdoor area. Facilities include sink, mini fridge, coffee machine and microwave. For those traveling with a child a low single bed can be available.

Guests have access to their own 350sq ft studio space, designated parking and outdoor area

Super clean, great water pressure in the shower, and plenty of room for 2 people. The hosts are lovely, great with communication and will likely greet you at check in. If you're looking for a quiet and private place for a long weekend, this is a great option. The town of Shokan is super tiny and has very few dining and/or grocery options, so you'd have to head to Woodstock, Kingston or Phoenicia for legit breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinking options, but all are just a 15-25 minute drive away.

Nice cafe/general store a short walk away, restaurant even closer. The room was spotless, nicely laid out and decorated, and walls hung with numerous, varied paintings by the host. Kitchen/coffee area completely outfitted. Extremely comfortable bed!The host greeted us at arrival (after taking special steps to enable us to check in early on account of the timing of the wedding we came to attend), gave us a complete briefing on everything we needed to know.

Great location

We met Elaine when we arrived, after we had sent her an approximate ETA. She showed us around, gave recommendations for nearby restaurants for dinner and breakfast, and was very welcoming. Location was perfect for our needs which was a halfway point form one destination to another. Woodstock is a few minutes away and was a cool town. We hope to return next year again.

Wonderful place to stay

My husband & I stayed for a long weekend for a folk concert. Elaine & Steve’s place was so comfortable and peaceful. The space is attached to their house but was very quiet. The communication with Elaine was great. She met us when we arrived and explained everything. It has a small kitchenette that met our needs fine. We would stay here again.

The studio unit was immaculate, cozy, quiet, and beautifully decorated. The host, Elaine, was welcoming and friendly. Microwave, mini fridge, and coffee maker was all I needed for this one-night stay. (Coffee appreciated!)

Lovely little place

The property was just as listed/pictured. Perfect space for a single or couple. This is a nice sized space for a studio, with a large bathroom (with EXCELLENT water pressure in the shower). Elaine greeted us in person and filled us in on the logistics of her place. While there isn't much to the actual town where the house is located, it's not too far to Woodstock, where there are plenty of food options, grocery stores, liquor stores, cultural events and small businesses to patronize. A nice option if you're looking for some peace and quiet, as this is on a private road, with limited exposure to neighbors.

Quiet, beautiful area, yet close to stores and dining. Close to Woodstock, Stayed for event at Bearsville Theater. Comfortable bed. Plenty of light. High ceiling. Quality linen, towels, toiletries. The space is exceptional and unique as it is decorated with original art. Very special. Highly recommend it.

Wonderful ‘West Wing’ stay

This artistic space was ideal for our two day stay- a lovely setting up a hill, amongst tall trees and a short drive to other hamlets, restaurants, antiquing, sights, etc. The studio is quite new, very cleverly laid out, with plenty of room and a small patio overlooking a little water feature, lots of windows, very quiet and private from the main attached house.It is meticulously maintained, with all the new mod cons- smart tv, WiFi, heaters, ac, brand new toilet and shower stall (good water pressure and plenty hot water), hairdryer, etc. I always appreciate that there are enough towel racks, hooks and shelves in a bathroom, and lots of lighting options and outlets throughout the space. They’ve thought of everything! The kitchen has a mini-fridge, sink, microwave, kettle, coffee maker, some dishes and silverware. What more do you need?!This is truly a delightful rental, with a comfy bed, roomy full length (yay!) closet with plenty of hangers, mirrors, attractive carpets and amazing art by the thoughtful and charming Elaine! (Steve was out of town but maybe we’ll meet him next time…)
