Lovingly remodeled in 2022, The Sougan blends the charm of a vintage motel with the modern comforts today’s travelers crave. From your front window, enjoy sweeping views of the lake, just steps away from your door. Our North Woods trip!

This place is amazing! The kitchenette looked exactly like the pictures on their website! Super clean, smelled great, loved the vintage vibe and very private! Right on the South Turtle Lake, beautiful view from our room, very quiet and peaceful and we had friendly neighbors. Would we stay there again? Absolutely!!!

Very close to great

The layout/use of space was good. I wish the shelves in the bedroom were deep enough to actually store the 'bed dressing' pillows out of the way, but they're not. Also, I was really enamored of the blue kitchen cabinets shown in the photos. They are not that color, alas MUCH darker. I tried opening all the window blinds, turning on all the lights, and using my phone's flash, and still could not make them look the color of the promo photos. The firepit area could use some cover for the provided wood, as it was too damp to do more than smolder. Lake and pier are nice. I would have gladly booked a return for next year, but when I looked, the price will be more than double and is now outside my expense window. Still, recommended if you can afford it.

45 Anniversary Trip

We loved our stay. It was just as listed and so peaceful. We were very close to the bike trails and had just a short drive to park our car. Enjoyed sitting on the dock and seeing the eagle snd listening to the loons. Will rent again for sure.

Absolutely darling!

They have updated this motel just the perfect amount. It has all the original charm and warmth, but updated with fresh appliances, bathroom and convenience like usb plugs in the bedside tables. Super clean. And hooks! Most vrbos never have enough hanging hooks, this one does. The lake is lovely and right outside the door. We will be back, many family memories to be made here.

The perfect balance

I loved the mid century cabin esthetic. Very clean and quiet. The perfect amount of seclusion with modern amenities. If you like busy hotels with a work out room and a check-in desk this is not for you. If you prefer roughing it and using an outhouse this is not for you. This could easily be my new favorite spot to vacation. Right on the lake with all the outdoor fun you expect and love from a Midwest vacation.

Love, love, love the vintage vibe!

The property was exactly as pictured. Nicely updated and well appointed with everything needed for an enjoyable stay. Bed was comfortable and linens were soft. Playing horseshoes (kid shoes were an added plus) while watching the beautiful sunset was the highlight of the stay. The owners definitely love this property and the history of Winchester. **Watch for the added fees - I was pretty disappointed when I realized I paid more than $100 more a night in fees than the original list price. My fault for not paying attention to the fine print.

Fun, relaxing weekend on the lake

We traveled up to the Northwoods for a family weekend getaway! The room was very clean and cozy with plenty of amenities (plates, cups, coffee machine, cleaning supplies). It was close to several restaurants/bars. We also used the dock for our pontoon boat day. Very enjoyable for the weekend!

I enjoyed the space of the room. I didn’t really take advantage of the resort because I was in the area for a family reunion. Will recommend this for anyone heading that direction.

Excellent cozy clean had everything great view great fishing,price amenities very nice owner

Wonderful place. We had a great time caught lots of fish off the dock. The motel room was roomy clean very cozy place. Had everything in there we needed. Used the boat while we were there worked great. Very nice owners they have a binder of places for bait and places to eat a nice story of them and how they came apon this cozy place. If we are ever in the area again we would definitely stay there!
