We had a wonderful month staying at Carter Cottage. The home is so lovely - spacious, beautifully designed and decorated, and comfortable. It's very clear the owners take great care of it.The outdoor spaces (front deck and private back patio) are amazing, too. The location is ideal for walking to Sunset Cliffs and downtown Ocean Beach, as well as so convenient to all of San Diego's attractions. Ashlyn was so responsive from initial contact to checkout. She touched base with us throughout our stay to make sure all was well.I'd definitely recommend staying here, and hope to return again someday!

The most perfect stay

Our stay at the Carter Cottage was perfect in every way. We traveled to San Diego to celebrate my Dads 70th Birthday and this cozy bungalow met all our our needs. Clean, quiet, centrally located, and housed with all that you could ever need. We will definitely stay again.

This home was beautifully designed. It’s comfortable and cozy, clean and bright. Great amenities, wonderful bedding, perfect coffee, delicious restaurant recommendation's. The air traffic above was noticeable when outdoors, but the interior was worth it!

Perfect Stay

House is beautifully decorated and clean just like the photos shown! Great location to the ocean and restaurants. Brought the whole family which was a party of 5 and we all fit comfortably. Only stayed two nights and wish we could have stayed longer. Will definitely be back!

Excellent stay at the cottage

My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Carter Cottage. OB is such a great small neighborhood with so much to offer. We were able to walk/quick drives into town for most local adventures. It was also a great home base as it allowed quick access to downtown SD, Mission Beach, La Jolla and Carlsbad. The house was clean and as per the description.

One of the best

Another review mentioned this and I have to echo, one of the best VRBO’s we’ve ever stayed in! House felt brand new and super clean. All beds and linens are comfy and high end. Location was great and easy to get to/from. Loved sitting on the deck watching the sunset every night. Host was very friendly and communication was great. Will be back!

Four of us stayed here for a week while attending a wedding in the neighborhood. The Carter Cottage was equipped with very high quality furnishings in the kitchen and all other rooms. For us the location was excellent; we walked to the Sunset Cliffs and had great views of the ocean and, of course, the sunset. We also walked to downtown Ocean Beach along some sketchy but fun trails above the surf. Ashlyn the proprietor was timely in communications, and her holiday decorations were beautiful. We would definitely stay here again and likely come back in the late summer so we can swim in the ocean.

Fabulous Property!

Carter Cottage is one of the best houses we’ve ever rented on vrbo. The house is incredibly well designed with travelers in mind. The details are amazing, it’s clear that the owners have put so much thought, time and effort into making this a luxury rental. The multiple outdoor spaces are fantastic with water views from the front deck and privacy in the back yard. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need and then some! All the home goods, bedding and furnishings are high quality and overall it felt like a special place to stay. Communication with the owner was top notch and the location was great. We were able to take a quick stroll to get to the ocean, shops and restaurants. We stayed with 5 adults and had plenty of room. I highly recommend this home and would stay again in a heartbeat.

Frankly, this is the type of place you don’t want to leave an honest review about because it is so amazing you’ll want to go back and you don’t want it to get so popular it won’t be available. This is a spectacular home to stay in. Beautifully appointed, comfortable, with just a great vibe. Just as it appears in the photos. Wonderful veranda on the front (great place to have a meal and enjoy the view). Great backyard for entertaining. Very thoughtfully well stocked. The hosts have put a lot of thought into this and it shows. They were also very attentive and responsive. From the moment we walked in, we said, and our friends who also came to visit said the same thing: “I could live here.”

Beautiful house, exactly as pictured. Everything is newly renovated and both the front deck and backyard were so nice to sit out and enjoy the San Diego breeze. It was a perfect location for a weekend ladies trip. If you are looking for a nice, quiet getaway, this place is the place to be. Also helpful that the hosts were also super communicative and quick to respond!
