We rented the property for a weekend visiting family in Olathe. Upon checking in we noticed the house was very cold. The thermostat was reading 59 but heat was set to 90. I assume the cleaning crew also realized it was cold and thought cranking it all the way up might help. Temperatures were getting down into the 30’s overnight and we were traveling with my infant son. I immediately reached out to the property owner and she was able to send a handyman within the hour. Luckily he was able to fix it but with check-in so late we had to miss dinner with family to ensure the handyman was able to fix the heat. I understand that things can break at anytime in a house but I wish the person who turned the thermostat to 90 in attempt to warm the house would have notified someone at that time that the heat may be going out. The other items of note were the house felt a little dirty and old. Found a razor cover in the shower left by a previous guest, several dead bugs in the windowsill, and the downstairs common area smelled like vomit. The broken items included some hooks in the bathroom and the mirror was cracked on the closet door. It’s worth mentioning this is a duplex. That wasn’t apparent from the listing. We did hear neighbors talking at certain times of the day but brought sound machines with us so it wasn’t a problem. Overall, I appreciated the homeowners swift repair of the heat and the house was ok for our 3 night stay but I would not stay here again.
