On arrival to the home, which was considerably more worn and aged than the listing photos would lead us to believe, we were met with a few dead roaches right in the kitchen area, and a line of ants in the same place. We went on to find how scantily furnished the place truly was, one towel per person, one single trash bag, only some pots, pans, cutlery, etc.. The light switches remained a mystery to us for the two days we were there. Some down stairs controlled fixtures upstairs, some upstairs controlled some down. It was as if a random mingling of three way switches ran the whole place, and we still needed remotes to turn on ceiling fans and lights, but that’s if the right series of switches was in the right place. The electricity on the bedroom side of the first floor stopped working our second night, out of nowhere. We tried to reset the GFCI in the bathroom as told to do so by a placard left in the bathroom, but that had no effect. We were unable to charge phones, plug in our child monitor, have lights in the hallway, bathroom, or either bedroom, all due so some mysterious issue. But, no worries, the lights blasted back on right at 6:30am. The home was convenient to the beach, stores, and restaurants. The AC kept the place cool, and the hot water never seemed to run out. But it’s hard to overlook the shortcomings even in light of the few good things.
